The hairpieces are compatible with minifigs, yes? I know the ears are molded in the hair so I have to use fleshie heads, I just want to know if they're compatible like the hairpieces from the main Friends line.

Much as I'd like to see trans red I agree tr. reddish orange is much more likely, especially since it seems we're getting red eyes (which are represented by tr. reddish orange, well, almost always). I think that colour is more suited to represent fire, but at least it goes well with black. I wonder if Risgrynsgrot can tell us anything more about the colours. It seems it goes like this: Warrior: ? Slicer: ? Basher: purple? Scorpio: ? (Please let it be dark tan) Grinder: black and tr. red/reddish orange Ekimu: tr. light blue and gold, as expected. Also, did you remember (Risgrynsgrot obviously) if the sets contained extra masks and/or Skull Spiders? I can see MM vs SG being a "race" set, as in "Who will get the powerful Mask of Creation first? The hero or the villain? You decide!". But I don't know about the others.

Bit of a surprise Ekimu doesn't have his hammer, but at this point I think he is wearing the famous gold/blue Protector mask and the MoCr is going to be shown on the box art as the "prize mask", like the "Golden Masks of POWAH" in the Toa sets. No idea of how he's going to fight though, hopefully the hammer is there but just hard to see. Aside from that odd thing, the sets sound way cool! Skull Slicer is quite the surprise, I wonder if all 4 arms work with gears..

The exposed ball joints are worrying a bit myself. IRL pics don't make them to be that awful, but I did fear what you said about the "disjointed appearence", especially in side shots. I've seen some people elsewhere covering the ball joints with 3M or 4M shells, which has the nice side effect of making the figure's chest larger, but obviously it doesn't work for all Toa (I'd put those on Tahu or Pohatu, but definitely not on Lewa, Gali or Kopaka). Leaked picture of Skull Grinder found!

From what I got Skull Destroyer, Crusher, etc.. are unofficial translations Risgrynsgrot did. However, as someone on YT pointed out his name is a Swedish word. Swedish and Danish as languages are fairly close to eachother so it's possible he managed to translate from the original Danish set names. So, while unofficial, these translations might give us some insight on how the sets look, until Risgrynsgrot provides us with more detailed descriptions (which might or not happen since he described the pictures as being pretty small). Which brings me to... If Risgrynsgrot got those translations from Swedish or Danish, the set's original name is closer to the general concept of destroying or annhilating, so I don't think "Grinder" is meant to be taken literally and is closer to what Lego thought as a cool sounding English term for marketing purposes (Destroyer sounds cool too, but Grinder is more.. brutal, I guess).I myself wouldn't like if the one who might turn out to be 2015's big bad reused such a simple piece, already used by one of the Protectors at that- it would be the equivalent of 03 Makuta using a Kohlii sti- oh wait, he kinda did. But still, I don't think a saw is a weapon fit for a leader villain, a pole weapon or a sword would be better. And speaking of swords, Risgrynsgrot said one of the villains is using a big sword, I think that he would've mentioned it if said sword belonged to S. Grinder. So I'm going with my original theory that S. Slicer is the swordsman type, so the sword might belong to him. I wonder if the big sword is a new piece or a recolour (black? Titanium metallic?) of Tahu's/Kopaka's giant blade. I was about to say that MM vs SG might be about 40 dollars like Queen Beast, but then I remembered that USA got Queen Beast for 35, it's Yuropoors who had to pay 40 Euro (47 DOLLARS) for her set.I think Ekimu is going to be something between a Protector and a mid-size Toa, something worth about 12 Euro on his own. Hopefully that means that, even if the set isn't more expensive that Queen Beast, Skull Grinder turns out to be a more satisfying build and design compared to the likes of Fangar, Fluminox, Splitter Beast, etc. There don't seem to be any budget-eating elements this time (minifigs, giant overly complicated launchers, etc..)- there might be 1-2 Skull Spiders included in the set, but going by the Winter wave they don't seem to limit the sets designs in any way (unlike the Brains, ughhh). I like that as well. Important and/or legendary and/or powerful characters in G1 were almost always Toa sized or above: Mata Nui is an obvious example, but Artakha, Karzahni, TSO, many OoMN members etc.. were all much bigger than Toa. I like the idea of a legendary character who happens to be, physically speaking, little more than the average villager.Your second paragraph hints at Ekimu not being much of a fighter, but I actually hope he is, because that would reinforce the idea that size doesn't matter. Since he's going to fight Skull Grinder directly, that should hint at him being fairly powerful on his own (especially if the G2 MoCr has its G1 counterpart's reality warping powers), unless that battle is non canon. Now, name one Matoran-sized character in G1 above the Turaga power level (shapeshifters don't count). I guess I just really like the idea of a a small guy fighting on par with a titanic foe, Yoda style.

I just had a thought, since we're seeing skeleton like characters maybe one of the sets (Skull Grinder?) has a Grim Reaper theme, with a cape and a scythe?

I'm just happy we get a "battle" set where all models included are interesting (assuming Grinder isn't disappointing, but the Winter wave is so good I find that unlikely). Lego has the bad habit of bundling special/important characters with unneeded models that bump up the price. Want the almighty Queen Beast? You need to buy Evo's third Machine to get her! Karzahni and those Matoran look pretty cool, don't they? Here's a trap included with the set so you spend 10 Euro more! I'd cite 03 Takanuva as an example too, I personally hate the Ussanui, but I'm not sure how many would agree. You get the point anyway. I feared Grinder was some boring stuff like a trap or a vehicle for that reason, but I'm glad to be proven wrong. The last character vs character set we got was Bulk vs and Vapour, but HF 1.0..wasn't to my tastes, to say the least. But Okotoconicle is a wonderful, wonderful thing and I'm sure this set is going to be a lot of fun for AFOLs and kids alike. There don't seem to be huge sets this year (Scorpio and Grinder should be a bit bigger than Tahu and Kopaka but that's it), but they probably want to test the waters before going all out. Also, the quality of sets is more important than their sizes.

Kongu's teal is most definitely not coming back, it has been discounted years ago. The closest colours we have now are medium azure (Thonraxx's and the Beasts' bones) or, even closer, dark azure (Gali's armour and mask). Ekimu seemed to be tr. light blue in the animation, which is line with the Protectors (who have a lot of transparent pieces), and his shells (3M or 4M) already exist in that colour. I think that'd be a very cool colour scheme, but I'm all up for new dark azure shells if that is the case!

I just noticed on S@H that LoSS's number is 70790, despite the set being cheaper than 70789 Onua. This sounds like a contradiction, but I do think LoSS is a special case, being the sole villain set of the Winter wave. Meanwhile the Summer sets are all villains (Ekimu is just a small part of a mostly villain set, according to Risgrynsgrot's description) so I think they're following the regular cheapest-most expensive order, like the 12 hero sets of the Winter wave are doing (Protector-small Toa-large Toa).

I guess my post is moot then, ah well I had fun writing it anyway. Risgrynsgrot, does S. Scorpion look anything like the circled statues here? And do any of the villains happen to wear this mask? That would settle some major debates we had..

Not surprised the names changed so much. Like with the Protectors/Defenders, Surge Battle/War/Combat Machine, etc. It's all a matter of translation. Assuming these are the final ones, my predictions are mostly unchanged. Warrior is a 10 Euro trooper figure (as a direct evil counterpart to the Protectors). "Shredder" sounds a bit different than "Slicer", I assumed it was a swordsman warrior but they might pull a TMNT reference and give it large bladed claws. Not sure about Shredder's price, it could be 15 Euro I guess (I wouldn't mind all 3 middle sets being 20, though). Interesting that Scorpion's and Crusher's orders are switched around, so Crusher might be the more expensive one, but the previous list had set numbers associated with the names so it might not mean anything. Of course, it could be that these two have the same price point, so their orders are interchangeable (if you switched around 70788 Kopaka and 70787 Tahu it won't matter much since they're both 20 Euro sets). In that case, I think these are both 20 Euro sets, Crusher/Basher being a big guy (like an evil Onua) and Scorpion being Statue Guy©, a taller figure like Tahu and Kopaka. Finally, since Mask Maker is once again singular, I guess there goes my theory that it's actually "Makers", so the set will most likely include Ekimu and him only. I guess "Grinder" sounded a bit too dark, but I'm still going to miss that term. "Destroyer" still sounds too different from "Hoarder", so I still think that they are the leader of the Skull Army and that we're not going to see Makuta this year.

Sorry, got completely mixed up. Nevermind what I wrote.

I think we're going to see more Spiders included in the sets. Sure, it's definitely not the same level of conflict, but they can be used as alternate masks for the Skull guys, like the Toa' gold masks. Or they can be used as small pet companions, like Black Phantom's Arachnox drone or Jaller Mahri's Hanah (sp) crab.

Shame about the dark blue set.. But I really like the idea of a dark tan set! As for the Toa, I don't think we'll see another team. Unlike G1, recent action themes have made an effort to keep a single team of heroes, adding at most 2-4 additional members. Look at Ninjago for instance.

I don't think you're going to find anything until next week jaller. I don't know where you live exactly, but around here Winter sets never come out before the end of Christmas holidays.

I considered doing that to my Lewa, but now I have no doubt I'm going to. I actually like him more this way, he looks more slender. This is one of those times when Kongu Mahri's half-length Metru eyestalk would be useful. I wonder if we're ever going to get something like that again.. I think that'd look too long. Does the friction extender work with the new heads? It works with the Glatorian head, but not with the Brain Attack one. Maybe that one could do the trick. And yes, I did download the game on my Android tablet. It's quite repetitive, but I still found it fun enough to finish all six campaigns. I want to try getting all pieces (it's fun trying out new looks for the Toa!), but I heard you get only one piece every day with Endless Mode.

Out of the Fire guys, I think Fluminox is the best choice. The 5 extra Euros are really worth it: he has four -the highest number out of the quartet- of the new armour add-ons (which I like a lot and I hope to see in BIONICLE!), a large torso bone, a good selection of tr. orange parts (included the hands, which are exclusive to him and Cragger- and well, Protector of Fire) and 4 friction joints. Get Cragger/Panthar if you need earth green/black parts, otherwise go for Fluminox. Laval looks pretty useless to me, aside from his exclusive gold Beast feet. If you want another Ice set, I'd get Vardy, the dark tan shells are marvelous and he has a good selection of tr. light blue pieces, probably the best one among the Ice trio.
-
I'd keep that extra Tahu myself. He has a nice selection of red and gold parts, rare Technic pieces, silver blades (very generic and versatile) and a blue eyestalk (which is very rare compared to the lime one). I regretted buying that Tahu off eBay at first, but I decided I'm going to buy one from a store (because muh nostalgia) and build him while keeping that one for parts.

Daamn. Chima is really ending. I wasn't a huge fan (some great figs, though) but it felt so short. >tfw no Shadowind and Dark Tribes Ultrabuilds

I went to the Padua (official, apparently) Lego store, it was closed for lunch break so I couldn't find anyone to ask. But there was a notice reading "New for Lego 2015 January 9th". So that should cement it.

Word from Admiral Prime from tfw2005 is that his local "unofficial Lego shop" as he calls it is going to receive the sets on the 9th. It's a bit unusual for them to show up on a Friday (most shops here restock on Monday), but each store has its policy I guess.I'm going to downtown Padua later today, I really don't think I'm going to find the sets but it's worth trying anyway. I'm glad the February rumour is disproven at least. And just to make this post a bit more excting, holy crap I didn't realize you could do this with the blasters (I think you must not attach the yellow pin for it to work, though):

It doesn't show for Italy either, but all other 2015 themes seem to be there (including Ninjago, which was rumoured to come out as late as March or April). They're existing themes though, while BIONICLE needs to be added as a separate section. And @Gatanui yeah, I knew it! Now I'm 99% sure the sets are coming out in January for most of Europe. Hopefully I should find them next week or the other...

Italian shops I meant. January 7th, 16th, 20th, 30th- these are the dates I found. Germany is such a big market for Lego they treat it as separate from the rest of Europe (getting the sets earlier, etc..). It might be that Europe mainland and UK are getting the sets in January while Germany gets a February release, as unusual as it might sound. Also, online shops and stores are different things. When 2014 Chima Ultrabuilds reached stores here and in other European countries, they weren't even present on S@H yet. So the February release might refer to S@H- sets could reach German stores earlier, as it often seems to happen there.

That's great! I guess an Italian January release is nearly confirmed now. Most online shops point to the same conclusion.

Thanks guys! It's way better than the set connecting method. Less obstrusive and more functional. Definitely going to use it (with due credit if I share anything, of course).
