  1. IRRC Greg said it on the Chat: Tahu can manipulate lava because Fire Toa can control heat, but he can't create lava since it's molten rock.
  2. Personally, I knew that the moment I saw the Miru and the Kaukau looked way different than the classics- I knew I had to keep my expectations low (as far as of faithfulness to 2001 goes, not the quality of the designs on their own). In the end they turned out ok, I absolutely love the Miru. I'm just surprised and disappointed that Tahu, who seemed to be one of the three finalized sets, got his mask changed for no reason. The changes the Hau went through really make no sense to me. Was it to make the piece sturdier? Did the (grah) focus groups actually like the final design more?
  3. I..kinda don't mind Lewa having monkey-like proportions so to speak. Plus it's an easy fix, unlike classic BIONICLE where, most of the time, you'd end up using the Vahki lower leg piece, giving the character a pair of awkwardly bulky lower arms. I see it! My mind thought "goggles!", but a scuba visor makes so much more sense. It's a lot better than both Kaukau Nuva, on par with the Mata mask I would say.
  4. In the defense of the Hau, I think the bottom-up perspective the gold version is shown from makes it look a lot fatter and squashed than it might really be. The red Hau worn by Tahu doesn't look that bad, it looks narrower and taller...it's an odd Hau Mata/Hau Nuva/Arthron combination. Pretty cool all things considered. Anyway, the other mask designs look fantastic. They really nailed down the Miru (the smile! I can see it!), the Kakama and the Akaku. Gali's looks a lot better than the prototype: it indeed looks like the movie!Kaukau Nuva, it has nothing to do with the Mata mask though.. anyway, I think I like it. I hope the Pakari looks ok. The Skull Spiders look cool as usual, I really like the new legs/claws. Not that surprised to see a Skull Scorpion, I knew they'd do something like that the moment I saw a fifth clip bar on top. LoSS still looks boring, but I do really have to get my hands on his head/chest piece. Lastly, the print art looks beautiful! While not the tribal style I predicted, it does still have an ancient feeling, coupled with something alien. You know about those movies that fuse ancient cultures with sci-fi? Kinda like Stargate? Yeah, the Toa chests remind me of those. And what's with Kopaka's leg printing? WAY COOL. They're like alien robots covered in hieroglyphics. I love it!
  5. I like the sets but blech, I am extremely disappointed at Tahu's mask. Not sure why they felt the need to change it..... I might post some thoughts tomorrow.
  6. So am I, I know they use it because it stands out, but tr. red looks much more evil. And, as I've been saying for a while, it looks unnatural and tacky for fire, tr. flame orange (Jaller Inika's secondary colour) looks a lot better.
  7. Yeah, I don't have a clue about Gali's shoulders either. The shoulder pads and the arm connections sit so close to each other, they either used some crazy Technic or CCBS technique or a new piece.. @Lyichir Are they? I mean the armour bits above his chest armour. If you're talking about the Beasts tail stingers/claws, I really don't see them. They look like new pieces to me.
  8. Those were introduced in Furno XL (assuming you're implying they're new), anyway I did notice that. Not very fond of the look tbh, though I admit they offer a cool play feature. And speaking of Lewa, does anyone have an idea on how his shoulder pads work? It looks like a new piece, but even then I don't know how they attach.
  9. If these are following classic!BIONICLE's pattern, I think Summer is going to bring "just" canister villains and a few large sets. We always got only one small sets wave each year, mostly because they're supposed to be impulse sets. And I personally don't want to see Turaga this time around. I always felt they were a story artifact from 2001: wise Matoran did their job just as well.
  10. Too bad they're going to drop the "Skull" part. "Ragni-teschio" actually sounds kind of badass and exotic to this native speaker. I wonder if it's for simplicity sake, or the old boring "Death is EEVIL! Kids must NOT know about death!".
  11. I edited the post to inlcude tr. lime, I'd be ok with both (and the Lewa Mata standing on my desk does look good with those eyes). Oh snap. Actually some HF sets got translated, we got "Signore del Fuoco" (which is nowhere as cool as "SENOR DEL FUEGO") and the godawful "Dottor Witch" (I wonder if they check terms up before coming up with crap like this). And some IfB names got translated too: 44024 became "Bestia Trivellatrice"and 44025 "Macchina Trivellatrice di Bulk" (talk about creativity..) and I think we got "Regina delle Bestie" (Queen Beast for the non-speakers) too. So I don't think it's that unlikely for the new set names to be translated. I think we're getting something along the lines of "Protettore/Guardiano del ____" , "____, Signore/Padrone del ____" and "Signore/Lord dei Ragni-Teschio" (or maybe they keep Skull Spiders in English, I can totally see them doing that). Hopefully Gali is a "Signora" (female form) and not a "Signore" (male form)... but I'm not keeping my hopes up.
  12. I like dark or bright green (which is close enought while giving a better sense of glow) for him, just not lime green. Yellow suits him though, for some reason. I'd probably pick:Tahu- purple would've been close enough (...well, the closest colour available at least) to his 2001/2002 pink eyes but since it seems we aren't getting it, yellow (ice blue goes great with red, but it makes him look too icy- that's Kopaka, not Tahu) Kopaka- Ice blue all the way Onua- bright green or yellow Lewa- lime or yellow Pohatu- tr. orange Gali- yellow, or (as it would seem from the pics) bright green You didn't know? K is the edgiest letter ever!
  13. So no trace of tr. purple it seems (I could swear display pic!Onua had tr. purple, but oh well), but apparently Onua has YELLOW eyes. I hope that is actual yellow, it'd look good on a lot of characters, tr. lime makes no sense for Onua.
  14. So, Toa+Protectors are a thing. They sound kind of disappointing so far. Still, I will be surprised if the are no combo models among the Toa. And nice to see the new head and printed chests confirmed, as obvious both were. And: "Tahu can attach the BA swords to his back and use the other pair (the lavaboard ones)" Awesome! I hope all Toa can do that. I always wanted to see something like that in sets (no, whatever they tried to do with the BA Heroes' shields does NOT count).
  15. He's totally designing the new Bohrok parts. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
  16. I've been wondering that as well. Maybe he didn't work much on this wave? Seems weird they'd keep him out of new bonkles.
  17. ^ That is the same type of female joint the Glatorian and Brain Attack heads used. I kinda wish those huge horns stayed, but the final version is the best I think. So gorgeous. Easily my favorite Legendary mask of the three. Having one in hand is going to be a real treat ...
  18. Nature pays for our mistakes, not with money...but with pain. : ( Lewa, Master of Environmentalism main character for 2015.
  19. My first set was a...parts mask pack. Yeah. I wasn't sure if I liked those weird Slizer-like characters yet so I got into the whole lore only after I fell in love with the concept, the masks, the exotic names.. A few weeks later, I got Tahu and Gali. My last set was Star Gresh. I got Star Tahu and Rahkshi together, I was disappointed so I swore to not buy another Star but then Gresh won me over. I still regret buying every one of those, aside from some pieces. I wasn't interested in Nektann, Skrall and not-quiteTakanuva, and so my BIONICLE sets collecting days were over..until now of course. EDIT: Oh man, mask pack. Why did I type that...
  20. Until we get details on how the heads and masks work, that is the theory I'm going to support. It's going to be really weird if all the masks attach via hinges, not just because I'm not fond of the idea (so far). The point is that a number of masks sport obvious dots on the mouth area: the Protectors' mask, Kopaka's, Gali's, Pohatu's, Lewa's (the finalized set of the lot)... those dots don't seem to be very meaningful in terms of design, so why adding them if not for connection purposes? I think the MoCr is going to appear in Summer, or maybe even in 2016 (unlinkely IMO). I don't see any set we know of (as far as we know, this is the full line-up) leaving some room for the MoCr to be included, unless LoSS's gold Spider is a stand-in for the Mask, but I doubt that. We might get a store exclusive, but those tend to not feature new moulds (just some spiffy recolours), much less an important one like the mask that happens to be the main focus of the story. And yeah, I really want to see something around the 30 Euro tag. No vehicles, no monsters, just a big old Titan who towers above most characters. The CCBS has evolved a lot since its biggest build (Witch Doctor) debuted. And I think the new head is going to be very similar to the 2001-2003 Toa head. They're already making this huge, unprecedented of an effort to stay close to the 2001 designs (the masks, the weapons, the colours..) it just seems natural to me they're going for the classic robotic head look again.
  21. I had never read about the plans you mentioned, thanks Aanchir! I guess this explains why the BoM was used up so fast, in one year. I imagine that they were supposed to be saved for the 2009-2011 story, while 2008 had other villains for Jaller and the others to face: criminals interested in the Ignika like the Piraka and Barraki? BoM servants? It was obvious to anyone that the 2010 story was the result of years worth of story being scrapped, but I didn't feel that way about 2008. Mata Nui had been healed and so the Mahri had completed their destiny. It made sense for the Nuva to step in and complete their mission. I do realize now, however, that the later half of 2007 was indeed kinda rushed. Take Karzahni: he did play a pretty important role in 2006, so it made sense for him to be one of 2007's villains (which is why I called on him reappearing months ago his set actually got revealed), but I always thought it was disappointing that he was a really minor one in the end. Maybe Karzahni and Lesovikk were originally supposed to be a major villain and a sort of mentor figure to the Mahri (their "Lhikan" so to speak) respectively, before they got exiled to the serials. A third year for the Ignika quest arc would've been really cool to see indeed. But 3 years to awaken Mata Nui seem a bit too much, unless a full on war was supposed to happen: maybe that way we'd have gotten sets like more OoMN members, Dark Hunters, BoM servants and Makuta themselves, and maybe other stuff (Artakha? Toa Hagah? Who knows). It's pretty fascinating, but I guess we'd have to resort to our imagination and fan fiction making powers, unless BIONICLE 2 tries to redo some stuff.
  22. I'll definitely get all the Toa, and some of the others depending on their parts. LoSS looked cool and made of fairly useful parts at first, but now that I saw his structure is made of Technic (grah) he doesn't look that interesting aside his head/chest and the gold spider. I'm still on the fence on most of the Protectors. I think I'll buy Earth P. for the (tr.?) purple and Stone P. for the armour bits and tr. yellow. The other 4 seem less interesting, though I do kinda want Fire P.'s mask to use it as a neo-Arthron.
  23. I kinda see what you mean. The tip does look a bit irregular, and the back sticks out a lot, like the Beast foot. I don't mind it, I have lots of black 2.0 feet and few Beasts feet. I just find Toa with bestial feet a bit odd (the Inika foot has some small spikes, but it's not downright monstrous like that one). And all of Onua's purple parts are transparent in the display pic. Most are solid in the newest pic, I'm even doubtful about his thigh bones (they look black to me).
  24. Odd since he used 2.0 feet like the others in the display pic (and tr purple.. ), which is likely closer to the final products. I suppose the Beast foot is wider and more suited to his build (I saw some Onua MOCs using it actually), but I'm not that fond of one member of the team using such a different looking foot piece.
  25. Most think it's a prototype Mask of Creation, and I think I agree. I don't see a quest for two gold masks happening.
