Aussie sales! Share the news of LOCAL sales!

I know I'm being wildly optimistic here but have there been any sightings of the latest Hobbit wave? They seem to be showing up in the US and from memory we received Hobbit/LoTR sets around the same time..... -
Hi BrickG, Let me first of all say that I think the majority of us have been where you are at one stage or another to various degrees. Like anything in life the passion ebbs and flows. I have gone through 2 dark ages wherein didn't even look at lego and even sold my entire collection at that point. All I can say is don't give up entirely and get rid of what you have. If you have space pack it up and put it away, who knows where you'll be in a couple of years time..... Another recommendation if you have the stomach for it is commit to organising your collections once this short term pain is done (I myself don't mind sorting) you'll find MOCing becomes so much easier to plan and execute. Maybe this will ignite the spark again. Bottom line is, have a break if you feel you need to but don't make any long term decisions until you've thought about it for a good long while. My 2c worth....

Ezra Oakheart would be honoured to visit GoH Ezra Oakheart by slobey79, on Flickr Although Ezra and Sir Brychan haven't been seen in the same room together It must be the official haircut of Avalonian sea captains...... -
What made you get out of your LEGO dark age?

Lord of the Rings..... I was always a Castle Lego and Tolkien fan but having it combined was too much to resist -

An odd one but toy world on Beeliar drive WA has 1 PoP Battle of Alamut for $99.99 on their clearance stand near the entry. Surprise to see any of this line still available. They also tend to stock a lot of exclusives that aren't widely available. -
Wow this is great. A nightmarish creature befitting the realm of Nocturnus.

Eurobricks structure, moderating, member involvement and more
Slobey replied to SMC's topic in Forum Information and Help
I've been a member of EB for some 8 or 9 years with varying levels of activity. I'm not a huge poster but enjoy the way EB is set up and moderated. I find that there is very little- if any- trolling or petty arguments and that if there is the mods let it try and sort it self out before they step in. I'm sure there are some decisions that Mods would make differently if they had their time again but that's human. I think it's running great and overall a pleasant place to visit. Also +1 for longtime member recognition -
Light blueish grey :-) the base colour for most medieval structures :-)

Deciding to sell my entire collection when I entered a Dark Age. Multiple Viking sets, Early Harry potter and my childhood Castle sets. I've since managed to get the classic Castle sets I had, but if I can give any advise NEVER sell your LEGO unless you have no choice......

As the others have said don't be too hard on yourself..... The wyvern looks great and the posing on the rockwork is really good too.

This is great! I love builds that have a good dash of humour in them :-) the ogress is well built and the scale difference really pulls it all together. Looking forward the story continuing

This is my current set up. All my parts and MOCs have to be up high to prevent my 3 yr old boy from getting into them Workspace by slobey79, on Flickr

Yeah that's Gothmog, the picture is incorrect as it says in the first paragraph. That's why I asked

Nice tower and landscaping. The mine is a nice touch, you're fortunate kaliphlin's resources are close to the surface ;-) You can deep link images from Flickr by clicking on the share icon (third from bottom right hand side). Copy the BB code for medium and paste it to your post. Your pic will then show up in your post :-)

I'm busy with my task V. The buildng is happening in fits and starts between bricklink orders. It is rather big but is about three-quarters finished. I was going to do a WIP thread but I think I'll just wait till it's done. It may take a month or so yet, finding time to build is also proving challenging.... -
Looks like they've closed the borders again. Oh well it was good while it lasted....

Does anyone else here struggle with MOCs?
Slobey replied to SerenityInFire's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I agree with Mahtion, don't plan too much and just let the creativity flow. sometimes all it takes is putting a few pieces together to inspire you to make it bigger..... For example: I planned this MOC meticulously and I lost inspiration pretty quick. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=80556&hl=concentric but this one just sort of happened while I was experimenting with some building techniques http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=98384 -
I will generally pick up any castle/LoTR/hobbit set even if I'm not a fan of the particular model as they provide excellent part packs for castle/fantasy MOCing. I've built up enough of a collection of random bricks now that I can Bricklink specific items that I need (2x1 bluish grey bricks mainly ) The current castle is a good place to start building a collection of useful pieces and if you can find Helm's Deep (even 2nd hand) it is one of the best parts packs out there.

Haha. Nice scene. I like the way you've shaped the hull of the boat and the brick built beastie!

A bit obscure ;-) I think you're setting yself up for disappointment there. Or are you thinking of Gothmog? http://lotr.wikia.com/wiki/Gothmog_(Lieutenant_of_Morgul)

Lego have been victims of the change in movie schedule and character design from the start. hence the Yazneg debacle and not getting a proper Azog figure till wave 2. I dare say that if we got an Azog in wave 1 and 2, Lego MAY have given us Bolg in this wave. The other thing to consider is that kids who want to start buying Hobbit sets now will need main characters to make their purchase worthwhile. I doubt 99% of non-AFOL parents would be aware you can buy figures on eBay. Lego design and market sets primarily to children, they may pay us lip-service but they are Lego's bread and butter.

The masons wait patiently for the next Bricklink order to arrive. Some spend their time more productively than others...... Waiting for Bricklink by slobey79, on Flickr

Well.... at least it puts to an end the rampant speculation and guesses on who, what and how many would be in these sets that could never have possibly lived up to expectations.... I for one am ambivalent, I'll enjoy building them and then they will become Moc fodder....
