  1. Thanks for the kind words. I like throwing in plenty of Easter eggs into my convention displays and try not to make them too serious. I figure it gives people more to look at if they come for a second look. @Bregir the water is just (a lot of) trans clear and trans light blue round 1x1 studs.
  2. Hi guys, Here is my display I've built for an upcoming Lego show in my home town. All up it's 96 x 353 studs and by far the biggest I've ever built. I'll post a few pics here but to see more click on the links to my Flickr account. I'll hopefully get some better pics in a couple of weeks at the show. I'd just like to credit Matthias Richiter for the skull design. I reverse engineered it from a picture I found a few years ago but I see he has now put it up on Lego Ideas so if you like it please give him your support! https://ideas.lego.com/projects/290285f9-b882-4dc3-b714-73aa73a4ae96/updates DSC_9496 by slobey79, on Flickr DSC_9497 by slobey79, on Flickr DSC_9494 by slobey79, on Flickr DSC_9491 by slobey79, on Flickr DSC_9490 by slobey79, on Flickr DSC_9485 by slobey79, on Flickr DSC_9475 by slobey79, on Flickr DSC_9469 by slobey79, on Flickr DSC_9466 by slobey79, on Flickr
  3. Thanks for the feedback @blackdeathgr ? The skull was built a while ago and now I'm trying to integrate it into the hill side. I'm probably going to form up a landscape around it and then try to blend it in colour wise as the initial skull was made in solid lbg. I'll post a topic once the show has been and gone to show off the final results... Here is the original skull by itself:
  4. Here's a WIP shot of a display I'm building for a show in a couple of months. I'm pretty happy with how the skull has intergrated into the rock work. There will be more detailing done after the rest of the layout is sorted out.
  5. I know these films aren't based on reality but any civilisation/organisation will evolve their technology over time and it makes sense that TFO would improve on the designs of the Empire as well as the Resistance improving on their tried and tested fighters. I would be more concerned if the directors etc threw out all the designs from previous movies and started from scratch because it wouldn't make sense. Each film delivers new craft as well as new and improved models from the past. I think it also makes sense that Kylo would be a decent pilot with his force abilities............
  6. Thanks guys, much appreciated!
  7. Hi guys, as the topic suggests I would like to generate a parts list for a LDD model I've made. Could anyone point me in the right direction please? TIA
  8. I know its a new development but the Ghost as it's seen in Rogue One on Yavin IV shows a bit of greebling on the vertical front edges of the wings as opposed to the cleaner lines from the Rebels series.
  9. Wow....Just Wow! I've clocked up hours of research for dimensions, scaling etc to build my own large scale Ghost Moc and I've binned it because there is very few things that aren't perfect about your design. Thank you for sharing your LDD file, I don't think anyone would have begrudged you keeping it to yourself.
  10. Thanks for all the comments. @Rotundus close.. It's a British Shorthair ?
  11. Hi guys, Just another redesign of the Imperial Flagship in pirate colours. I wasn't fortunate enough to get the real deal when it was on sale so I thought this would be the next best thing. I know it has probably been done many times before but I hope you like it ;-) DSC_8739 by slobey79, on Flickr DSC_8740 by slobey79, on Flickr DSC_8742 by slobey79, on Flickr DSC_8747 by slobey79, on Flickr DSC_8744 by slobey79, on Flickr DSC_8743 by slobey79, on Flickr

    "Savvy?"

Thanks Phred :-) I am currently expanding it for an upcoming Lego show and I'll be sure to share it once its complete
  14. Hi guys, I thought I'd share a mosaic I made of the famous Japanese artwork of the 1800's. It is 144x96 studs and contains approx 3700 pieces. Hopefully I've done it justice The Great Wave off Kanagawa by slobey79, on Flickr

    "Savvy?"

Hi all, I thought I’d try out a bit of mosaic work. This is 96x48 studs and put a decent dent in my plate inventory. Jack Sparrow by slobey79, on Flickr
  16. Yes!! thanks so much that was the guy I was looking for :-)
  17. Hi guys, there is guy who make custom Lego sails on Bricklink who does a great job but I can't seem to find him back. Does anyone know the store I'm talking about? He also does cool cusom capes too cheers
  18. Thanks for the feedback. The idea when I set up the actual display is to put some strips of wood under the sheets to "dam" the 1x1 trans pieces. It's mainly to hide the leftover grey base plate that wasn't utilised while building.
  19. Hi Guys, Here’s a display I’ve built for an upcoming Lego show. It’s been about 3 years since I began the large drum tower with a view to making a large concentric castle http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=80556&hl=%2Bconcentric+%2Bcastle This display was limited to a 1.2 metre x 1.8 metre table otherwise I may have extended the landscape further. These photos are just from a practice set up (the entire castle and landscape can be taken apart into modular sections). I will take some better photos in 2 weeks time when it is set up for the show. The ship is also an older build which can be seen in this topic: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=98384&hl=harpy There are some techniques I have borrowed from some of you guys, consciously or unconsciously so if you see something familiar you have my thanks Excuse the mess in the background DSC_8463 by slobey79, on Flickr DSC_8485 by slobey79, on Flickr DSC_8483 by slobey79, on Flickr DSC_8477 by slobey79, on Flickr DSC_8476 by slobey79, on Flickr DSC_8472 by slobey79, on Flickr DSC_8466 by slobey79, on Flickr DSC_8473 by slobey79, on Flickr DSC_8474 by slobey79, on Flickr DSC_8465 by slobey79, on Flickr DSC_8469 by slobey79, on Flickr
  20. A bit of a study in landscaping that I thought I'd have some fun with "Tis but a scratch" DSC_8444 by slobey79, on Flickr
  21. Big W are usually the cheapest overall for Lego of the big box stores, I'd put this down as a typo rather than a intentional mislead......
  22. I'm the only AFOL in my family although I have 2 girls (7&9) and a 4 year old son who love Lego and have been building for years. So much so that the girls breezed through the modular they got for Christmas without any trouble. It's so nice to sit around our table with all of us building :-) or to "play" with my son with his Lego. My wife has slowly evolved over 13 years to being bemused by an adult playing with a kids toy to being very supportive- especially after seeing how much of an Adult community there is and seeing the Moc's that I make. I also have a couple of friends who I've had for years who I only realised recently were closet AFOLs I think here are still may people who re embarrassed about it for some reason
  23. Looks like this has moved to the top of the list. Cheers guys I'll have a look, hopefully there's still some around......
  24. I have to concur with spyderlord here.... All stories that have originated here have been credited as the source on Hothbricks and the others as far as I can tell.... What you have to remember is that all websites feed off each other for news and Hothbricks is no exception. At least I know if I want the LATEST news I know where to go. I think it's unfortunate that you've thrown a hand grenade and then left.....
