Both LEGO string and your way to fix the sails works great, the whole work appears "clean" and very accessible, specially considering your "comic" purpose!

I guess you may need this: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=8875 Wich is the Master Index on this portal, there you may find tips, pics, tutorial, historic notes.. and some fun too. Second I think you may need to choose you model, and this link: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=23991 Could help your choice..

In this period I'm in the mood of making some small ships, so I was searching for the seagull of yours, to try something similar to improve in my game... and I've found this. The first time I've seen her I was in my "only frigate" period, and I didn't spend much time looking her; but looking this today I must say she's amazing, an incredible lot of details in such little ship! I wonder if yachts this type may carry a couple guns (so I could make something similar) or not; or eventually if you know some kind of little ship to try (actually I really love the dutch style, much more if with crow's nest on the bowsprit)

I'm quite old and I used to say myself I'm using bricks to make sculptures...truth is: lego are games, and games are made to play! Can't wait to see your battles, maybe on your comics.

I think I can understand, I have a slow project too, wich has not been touched for many months, because of the huge work needed. By the way, yourr widest part is nearly 36 studs, wich means approx 12 meters, and it t would be very accurate on a heavy frigate (maybe a 2 decker instead of 3), the problem on those dimensions is also with the bird's view, wich make your ship mostly straight.. Don't give up this project, you may find lots of accurate infos on this portal.

I'm not sure of what you're asking, if you want those building instructions, you may find them easily with google or browsing the official lego website. Matteo Edit: I have probably misunderstood your question (my fault). You may browse by 'sets' the bricklink.com website, at the voice 'pirates' all of the sets have been sorted by year of production. Some of the ships you named have been produced two times.

This would be great, I've made almost a full rulebook, i'm gonna try it and then traduce in english.. and then I'll be glad to share, or PM all of the working and non working things..

May you please stop making beautiful ships? This is incredible, the minifig illusion scale works greatly.

Since this is coming up a very nice ship, a very little change on the stern should be done: you "glass effect is great, but you may separate it into a certain number of little windows. For rising the masts you can use this brick: https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=4844 instead of the pillar, and the last tip is just an IMHO: you can make the handrailing and headrailing with a color wich is pretty much different from the rest of the ship, i don't know iwhite, or blue, or even yellow could look nice (but this is just my opinion). Keep it up! Matteo

Uhm... maybe i'm playing brikwars with my (HUGE) star wars collection :) what i'm searching now is a different game wich allows me a little simulating, but still remains a "game".

This comes helpful, all of the game turns around the classic 1d6 and maybe using the lego dice... thanks! Edit: found and added those tiles to my order, also added a lego dice, hope to share the first beta, with some gameplay shots, the next week.

Ahoy, sailors of the many bricks! This morning I'm writing you to ask a question: I've seen some interesting game using MOCs on this forum for gameplay, and I know there's the "Evil Steve's Pirates Game" too; but i don't know if there's one tabletop game (maybe written by you) using the minifig as primary element instead of the ships. I've once yesterday finished the core rules for a skirmish game, "lego pirates era" (not France against Royal Navy etc.. but Blue Coats vs Red Coats vs Imperial Armada vs Pirates and the opportunity to be a corsair or a merchant), where the main element are minifigs, ships are moving dioramas. This is a beta-version and the campaign mode is still missing, but I hope to test it in a couple days with some friend.. rules are quite simple and maybe this could be a very fast game. The meaning of my question is to read any other "rulebook" to see if something could be changed or improved in my version (wich I'll surely share on this forum once mostly completed).

What an amazing work you have here! I really like the soft lines of your brickbuilt hull.
-
This moc is so interesting! It reminds me of the 10188 lego kit (the death star diorama). It's like a game.. but it's full of details, really a nice work!

Build your own Pirate LEGO Animal Battle Pack - FAQ
Matteo1130 replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
what about: a galapagos iguana? a sloth? if this would be an immaginary animal pack.. sailors loved to keep strange and esotic creatures on their ships! -
Looks nice! Clever idea for making windows.

Can't tell you! It's a secret! Joking ;) I simply use 4275 hinge plate w 3 fingers and 4531 hinge tile w 2 fingers. This combination allows to fold down sides. Good luck! Edit: Ina realistic look the guns can't start under the largest part of the ship so first you have to curve the hull, then place gunports. This way it will be very hard to make a three decker...
-
Well, polacca will be really similar to yours. I'll change colours and reduce guns, closing the last gunport near to the stern to make the mast support. I've tried to make an internal too, but i think the only internal possible is the captain's cabin (even if really small). Maybe i'll "stalk" you a little for that project Corvette.. i don't really know how will look. all of the guns will be on an uncovered deck, that changes into covered to make the stern, 3 masts (ship). Pics soon (but bricklink orders are shamely slow in my country)
-
I haven't read of this until now... No words about what happened. Hope to see vesta again, in the same shape.. hoses as headrails are nice and realistic, but much less 'lego' and more 'aseptic' than your version.
-
Since you're trying to make a 3 decker, you need a way to open your sides to access the gun deck (if i've undestood your words). There's many ways to reproduce that: the perfectionist way, admiral croissant's and mine. But honestly: with the perfectionit way you have the complete access to the gundeck, but you have to separate te ship to do that. With admiral croissant's and mine method you can look into the gundeck, but even with my method (wich allows minifig wearin hats to walk into) it's very hard to move minifigs in because of the arcs rising the upper deck. I think CGH style is the best way to build a ship and access captain cabin and the central guns.
-
The CGH tumblehome technique may be semplified this way: in a 10 jumper series (for example) you may place a single jumper at the first and at the last position, and in the middle instead of 8 jumpers you may place tiles in the same color. hinges can be replaced by 1x2 plates modified with clips and handles (i can't remember who suggested that, but it was a clever idea) i really like the CGH style, it's accurate, and at the same time remains very "lego".

I've found this on the net: http://www.kotiposti.net/felipe/Pictures/Venus_1783/venus_1783.html by looking a minifig, i think it's pretty accurate to tell that 6studs are about 2 meters (a minifig is long nearly 5 studs and i consider it nearly 1,75m). so, by adding another mid section, my hull will be around 90studs (30m) and the width (counting the stairs on sides) of 24studs is nearly 8m. the proportion is not working :( ... so there it comes the illusion. To make the illusion work, i'll like to ask to some MOC expert (such as admiral croissant) some tip to make her look realistic...
-
Hi all, I left my project take some dust for several months because of a structural issue. The original ship had the shape i wanted (even if not everyone liked it), but it was built in economy of pieces and lifting the MOC it was pretty much breaking in pieces.. for this reason i knew that i had to broke it before making some progress and left it apart for a long time. Yesterday I found the courage to disassemble it and change most of the shape into more realistic version, changing the lenght of the hull and completely rebuild the bow, according to a book i read ("the history of the french frigate 1650-1850"). The new bow is realistic, but still "LEGO" (for example the headrailing is brickbuilt, but every brick is completely lock in place, no moving bricks); but I need some help: my book is black&white illustrated and my bow is made by anycolours bricks. May someone post (or link) images about realistic coloured bows, so i can place the bricklink order and post some decent picture of this version? :)

does lego digital designer accept old style bow and stern? are tehre other softwares?
