Hi all, somebody may remember a frigate i've started long ago (still a WIP) with my personal tumblehome technique.. wich needs several structure reinforcement, but hope to post some new pics soon. meanwhile i've been interested in making a corvette too, using small old bow, stern and 4 small midsections, but i prefere to make it in LDD first. where may i find a software? have i to make "steps" myself on it, or completed the model i may simply ask to show the brick-by-brick sequence? does any software show the parts list? many thanks! Matteo

i see, you mean the "yellow thief", a very clever design, surely in my top10 MOCs on this forum (absolutely, unquestionably first place for the Vesta!!).

uhm.. i think the gunports are too near each other. i've seen good looking gunports at 4 studs even on prefab hulls, so on a brickbuilt hull 2 studs are too near. BTW yours is a pretty nice (and ambitious) project, try to consider some 3x3 studs brickbuilt gunports :) keep it up!

i'm trying to figure how to use your sides design in the middle part (love the way it looks) and put a couple hinges or clips to block sides in place (and maybe swivel them). do you think is it possible to make a brig with a 1 mid-section small hull in a plausible minifig illusion scale? this thing makes me want to continue my old project... http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/687/sdc10828x.jpg/

this is incredibly beauty! i'm trying to make little ships like yours, but i've found it much more difficult than making larger ones... hope you won't be disappointed if i try to "copy" the main structure edit: have the sides been blocked or just drop in place?

hi all, as you can read in the topic: i just want to discolour some minifig...to prepare it for paper decals or something else.. wich kind of product can do that without ruining the plastic? thanks

Talk to the Star Wars Moderators and Regulators
Matteo1130 replied to KimT's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Good morning, i'm mostly new in this forum, i'm more often on classic-pirates, so i hope i'm writing in the right section :) I've been a collector in original lego starwars kits since their very first appearance on the shelves, so i'm in possess of a really huge number of minifigs and vehicles (often in multiple copies). My original idea (which left by for years) was to make a tabletop wargame. now i've found some collectors friends and i'm trying again :) the question is: anyone tried the same and could share a rulebook? i've already tried with the rules on brikwars.com, funny but not really compliant with the background, so i would like to collect some tip before trying a massive conversion from the D6 RPG game. i'm asking in the admin section because maybe this could be already spoken in an old thread.. thanks for reading :) Matteo from Italy -
It's a really nice model, it's complete and it seems to be completely playable. the only thing i could change is the choice of the blue color that makes it appear somehow modern, in spite of the guns in pirate's style. This is the first trimaran i've seen in minifig scale, great job.

Hi all, i'm near to end my ship (visible in this forum) and i'm trying to use it in the Evil Stevie Pirate Game. My brother and friends have some other ships (caribbean clipper, BBB, skull's eye schrooner, and i'm building some more cutter), but my heavy frigate, with her 7 mid sections and 44 guns exceed the rules of the game. Somebody wrote and tried with friends some special rule to add those ships to the game? thanks for reading.. matteo

thank tou alak, i'll try to make a castle...but i'm afraid the ship will come too high. i'll see :)

ok, i've understood there're a lot of "errors" in my interpretation of a model... but i love this and i would like to continue in my project as a game instead of a model, adding only the details i could make :/ by the way i'm in the mood of posting every progress, hoping to be helpful to someone purposing techniques :) here's some shot of the bow on finishing (i'm still missing a lot of pieces but i really wanted to make an idea of the final shape) i think the masts will have a different colour (reddish brown 2x2 round bricks with black 2x2 round plates every 3 or 4 bricks maybe.. but i'll be glad to get some suggestion before to make some order..) in this pics there's an illusion that makes the hull curve more dramatically on the bow.. i think it looks realistic only on an early 1700 frigate, i'm still looking at my reference book to get some idea to make the stern plausible with the age of the ship (once finished the bow) i think the figurehead will be a triton with a dark green fishtail, yellow torso and an old man head, with white accessory beard and a golden crown.. i think there's a trident in some series so i could call my ship "Poseidon" wich is a good name for an english and/or a french ship... let's see..
-
they're made the same way :) but (i don't know why) the camera changes heavily the shape of the gunports (and of the entire ship...she looks really different). by the way i think i'm removing those gunports to make place to a brickbuilt fence... i'm using as a guide "the history of the french frigate 1650-1850" to get some ideas.
-
yes, they're gunports, but allgunports in th front half will be removed. talking about the curves: i really like the way it looks (and it's a litte late to rebuild the entire hull...) so i think i'm keeping this shape.. as i said i'm very sorry about pics, in real life the ship looks different
-
the line is in dark red, ti recall the gunports. i don't know why but the ship seems shorter in the pictures :( IRL she looks different.. about the black brick line..it's impossible to remove that, but i'm on the way to change the sides again: the number of guns on the upper deck will be decreased, the stairs will slide one gunport forwarsds and there'll be a brickbuilt fence to make sides "ligheter". about headrails i'm afraid i'll meake you wait a long. every kind of shipping is very slow in here. i'll try to make some project in LDD to share with you :) p.s. the caribbean clipper is not original and will be heavily changed into a frigate once i've finished this ship. i also have 3 small bow 3 small stern and 5 small mid sections, i'll se what i can do with those pieces ;)
-
just to make you know: i'm still bricking ;) the new colour scheme the shape...i'm VERY proud of this shape, an incredible curve on a minifig illusion scale there'll be a little surprise to you once i've get the bricks, the headrails will be completely brickbuilt, and with an all new technique!
-
beautiful, but i have a question: all of these mocs figuring buildings etcetera... will be destroyed to build other mocs? it's a pity!!
-
i was planing to place toilets, but i don't know the exact position... there'll be a stair to the upper bridge. for headrails i would like to try a new technique.
-
here again, i'm on my way for finishing the bow.. all the sides are almost done and the shape and colour scheme has heavily changed into admiral croissant's and perfectionist's tips. the question is: wich details should i improve for making a realistic bow? the headrails could be done in a single heavy bow for each side of the ship?
-
wow, really beautiful... great job on those windows. bellissimo.
-
all right, i've successfully modified the upper bridge and i'm waiting for the black parts to complete the line. i've also lowered 1 plate the sides, and the illusion works great, thanks for all the tips (soon more pics). @admins: how could i change topic title to "WIP heavy frigate (still without a name)"?
-
thanks perfectionist, as usual you made a lot of fine advices. i think i'll try first to change the reddish brown line into a completely black one, and see if the illusion helps me without lowering.. wich means a complete reconstruction and denies me to make my opening sides.. :/ can't wait to try and post some pic. for the techniques: no worry, i was only scared about "steal" techniques and not to share those, so i'll be glad (or proud) id someone uses my ideas :)
-
uhm... 2 x 4 plates.. up and down the tan line? i was planning about placing tiles with clips to sustain a ladder or a couple fences (as a ladder as well). but now i'm running low on bricks and i'm not in the mood of destroying my star wars collection to complete the ship ;)
-
this is how it looks after the rising.. if i've understood well you're suggesting about changing in black the slopes and the two plates under those.. i don't know if this is possible beacuse the two plates are part of the upper deck/lower roof, but i'll try to figure something. if i can't change that colour maybe i could change in reddish brown the black line. but i can't understand wich gaps are you talking about :( maybe i have misunderstood: are you talking about changing the colour of the handrail on the stairs from tan/brown to yellow/black? it could be a great idea.. and the gaps.. if you mean the holes in the black line: they will hold a line of little cannons :) at last there will be 44 guns in completely playable minifig scale another edit: minifig ILLUSION scale (sorry

as i said the progress this time are very poor. for every order on bricklin k i made i have to wait about 3 weeks for the shipping because of the F@#*ยง shame of italian mail system.. i've just added the suppurt for the cat's tails, the upper sides ah suggested by admiral croissant (in black colour) and reduced a bit the lenght of the figurehead support. now i have to ask (as usual) some help. i'm in the mood to rise a plate the new black gunline, to make ah handrail in tan colour, interrupted next to the stairs on the sides and make for each part an handknob similar to the inner stairs. i don't know if it will be black as the gunline, tan (so there will be a thin tan line between the yellow tiles and the black bricks) or dark red to recall the gunports on the main gundeck. stairs on the sides: i don'l like the way they looks with the 1 x 2 tiles with handle so i'm planning to make stairs with reddish brown fences (1x4x2) as i've seen on other ships (i can't recall where..). upper black gunline: does it feel realistic? (not "scaled" or "real"... just realistic) or is it better to enlarge the part without the black line? even if by this way i'l reduce the number of guns.. of corse the "colored" support for the rigging will be black and will be finished by a technic brick and a tile. the next step will be the finishing of the bow, using swivel plates i'll complete the black line, rising 1 or 2 plates in the front part, starting by the last yellow tile already placed... for the headrails i'm still searching an idea for using soft axles..i'll see.. thanks for reading

i'm agree with perfectionist (in some way) and my idea was to protect other users to me (and my using their ideas). for example i think i'm the first using this technique for the sides (folding down) and i'm thinking in good faith that's a my idea, but i can't be sure to offend anyone. by the way i'm planning to copy the CGH's lanterns and the small brickbuilt cannons for the upper bridge, or the stove from the perfectionist's achilles; and most of the ideas on this ship comes from admiral croissant. So: before going on with this project i'd like to say "thanks" to all the builders who helped me and "sorry" to th eother builders i've copied without giving some sort of credit. i'm uploading the images and soon i'll be glad to share my (very poor this time) progresses.
