  1. Can an admin split this thread into 2016 speculation and couplings/buffers?
  2. You mean something like this: You can vote for it here. Please do. At the current rate of getting support it'll reach 10k votes in June 2028. That's the problem. There just aren't enough Lego Train fans around the world. We're a niche within a niche. It sucks, but that's where we are. I've posted about this before. Have a look at all the train projects on Ideas (do a search for train, don't rely on tags). There are currently 3 projects with more than 1000 votes and even those 3, at the current rate of receiving votes, have no hope of reaching 10k in time. Call me the prophet of doom, call me a glass-half-empty guy. I'm hoping for a 50th anniversary set but beyond that I'd be very surprised to see anything other than the 2 or 3 City sets every 3-4 years. Of course I'd love to be wrong... Err... which train from which movie?
  3. Years ago there was TrackDraw. It had some flaws but I loved the concept. Unfortunately it's no longer being developed.
  4. Well done! That's turned out really well! At that size/scale models are not meant for close-ups ;-)
  5. No, they don't. Lego track has a radius of 40 studs. ME Models make R56, R72, R88 and R104.
  6. The rail profile is close to the old 4.5V/12V rails and visibly different than the 9V/PF rails. The gauge, the distance between the rails, is the same as all normal Lego track.
  7. Lego were never going to make R104 track anyway because there's no market for them. Then again, thanks to Big Ben they now produce the large drivers...

  9. Instantly recognisable and that's before I spotted the windmill. That scene could be right outside my parents house (including the greenhouses). That's ok, you've left out the drugs and the red lights ;-)
  10. Nah, you're the winner; you're the owner of a beautiful train.
  11. Nice looking train! Do they run like that in real life, with an engine at each end? The only thing that looks a littlle 'off' is the positioning of the bogies. Could you move them inwards by a stud or would that make them touch in corners?
  12. Dino, have you seen these? R40 + R56 + R72 + R88 + R104 by Duq, on Flickr Universal Track Planning for BlueBrick by Michael Gale, on Flickr
  13. I've said this many times: Google is your friend: https://www.google.ie/search?q=lego+3+axle+bogie+powering&tbm=isch One of the first results there is a picture of Cale Leiphart's design which takes funnily enough to a thread here on Eurobricks:http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=57085 The link in that thread takes you to Cale's images on Flickr where, in the album for the engine this bogie belongs to, you'll find pictures like this: B&O Em1 18 by Cale Leiphart, on Flickr Another image in those search results will take you to Mike Pianta's album of his Class 66 with a number of pictures of both bogies and the inside of his fantastic model: Now all that took me longer to type that to find. It's really not that difficult. Can I recommend you start downloading issues of Railbricks Magazine? Full of building techniques and pictures of great models. Another tip: post a few pictures of what you've tried sofar. A lot of builders prefer "hey, I got this far, can you help me out" to "I've picked a model I want to build, please tell me how to do it". ;-)
  14. It's easy... New steam locomotive 'Anouk'. by therizingrize, on Flickr
  15. Read on. There are modifications to the cylinders to reduce the jamming/locking and other improvements to EN. At the end of that thread Zephyr links to Railbricks issue #7. Start at page 31.
  16. I've just finished the last of the ME Models track parts in LDraw: R40 + R56 + R72 + R88 + R104 by Duq, on Flickr The available parts are: 8x2 Connector (for curves) 8x3 Connector (for straights) 8L Straight rail 32L Straight rail R56 Curved rails (Inner & Outer) R72 Curved rails (Inner & Outer) R88 Curved rails (Inner & Outer) R104 Curved rails (Inner & Outer) I've also created 'shortcut' parts for complete sections of each of the curves as well as the two straights. All parts are available for download from Github. ME Models Half Length Track by Duq, on Flickr
  17. Have you tried searching? http://lmgtfy.com/?q=lego+emerald+night+piston+jam http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=28523
  18. I don't quite get what you're saying. A toy shop is dearer than a Lego set? This year you just shouldn't buy Lego in shops in Ireland; Smyths, Art and Hobby and Argos are all 10%-15% above the Shop at Home price and that's before VIP points. 60052 is €179.99 on Shop at Home, €199.99 in Smyths. I don't think much of the red one in terms of looks and it lacks points/switches. As mentioned above though, it's much better value for money.
  19. Compared to the blue cargo train.
  20. Finally available for Ireland as well. It's 11% cheaper for 11% more parts. Seems like a pretty good deal to me.
  21. Feel free to contribute ;-)
  22. If we're going to be technical anyway, if it's a VIRM then it has to be 4 or 6 cars. The V stands for Verlengd or Extended. The original 3 and 4 car sets were DD-IRM. And yes, as far as I know they have all been extended by now but I no longer live in Holland so can't be entirely sure.
  23. I like it! That piece works really well for the roof. Would be a shame if you had to modify parts though...
  24. Buy 2 Maersk trains and sell one engine ;-)
  25. Search through this forum, it's been explained in detail a few times. Option 1: turn one motor around, tricky to route the wire. Option 2: polarity switch between battery and one of the motors.
