Not me! I embrace death with open arms!! ....As long as it's a lynch, anyway. Actually, yeah, I could use some protection.

Now you're just trying to set up a Star Wars quote... But it sounds pretty cool.

Sofia notes that Erik was waiting by the stairwell. "Indeed, I suppose we should get on with this investigation....you can of course all come back down afterward to speak with the patrons when you're done, but could we head up there?" Natnail just took a deep swig of the bottle that was handed to him in response. -

"Business is fine, but do it look like I'm on a job? Naw, I've got more important things to do...Quillius! Another rum!" he shouted to the bartender, who growled but complied. -
Tesni's Special Damage should be drawn to me, and then with Special Mirror I should return the damage. It looks like you took the health off both me and Tesni for some reason. The Prince should be at 176 health while Tesni should be at full. Atramor reeled backward as the Prince and the General swarmed him. He spat some blood out of his mouth, retreating to the back row to try and heal himself. "Secret to my success is bein' the toughest guy on the block. Word gets around when ye' can put down a hero without anythin' more than a sword and a drink, haha." "Yes, he was a merchant, his name was Rorik. He operated out of Vartland, we were only here on a business trip. We met around a decade ago. I was barely out of my teens and working in one of the taverns in one of the ports...not such a promising future. We struck up a conversation about the prices of mead, and I guess he saw my talent at figuring out how economics worked, because next thing I knew, he was dragging my around the entire continent to show me how the business worked. Just about anything of value I've done I owe to him..." She sighs, staring at a wall for a few moments, deep in thought, before turning back to Pretzel. "He didn't like to flaunt his wealth. I don't know if it was being a norseman or just how he was. He preferred a good, strong ale over any of the luxuries a more expensive inn could offer." The girl crossed her arms, looking either indignant or annoyed. "I've never heard of you. I don't know nothing about any murders, and the only reason I'm here is to get off the streets for a while. My age is no concern of yours, either. You're an elf, you're probably, what, a couple thousand years old?" snapped the girl. -

The mercenary turned his head slowly towards Dreyrugr. What at first seemed some sort of mask actually seemed to comprise his head naturally, covered in blood red scales of some sort. "A writer...really," he stated in a cool, monotone voice. "You seem a surprisingly well-armed writer, then, my friend." "HAH! Do not try and fool me aglhrghn, anyone with half a wit can figure out you're not. What is it, then? Assassin? Sellsword?" accused the strange orange being, her voice loud and gurgling. "Hero...?" suggested the strange mercenary, quietly and astutely. "You didn't hear it from me, friend, but the one at the bar isn't the most reputable fellow when it comes to the ladies. I can only assume what he said, but when all was said and done....well, that gap in the wall behind the counter speaks for itself. It was a window before that fight happened, you know. I'm Boris, by the way, Boris Brottin." "Yes, right in his room upstairs...I'm afraid I don't pay much attention to the bar patrons, but I'm sure the bartender does, if you want to find out." Sofia blinks, and raises her eyebrow. "I can't speak for the other two, but the vampire is actually in your party...his name is Dreyrugr, I believe." " 'Fraid I don't recall," remarked the man, snatching the rum without a second thought and downing it. "Name's Natnail, best damn sellsword in Eubric, and don't ye' forget it." The hooded girl looked up at Nessa. She looked fairly young considering she was alone in a bar. "Nothing much. You?" -
"Hit that Prince, Russel," suggested Atramor, continuing his assault on the Rebel General. Battle Order Russel attacks Rebel Prince, front row - Tesni Atramor attacks Rebel General, front row - Althior Ellaria nurtures Atramor, back row -

The bard sighs once he's done playing. "Not very profitable, unfortunately. I just don't think people appreciate my music as much as you. And yes, it can get more violent than you might think." He looked left and right, nodding towards the unsavory man Sylph was speaking to and the orange woman in succession, lowering his voice to a whisper. "Those two got into a fight that almost leveled the bar the other day!" -

The weremutt handed over a sealed bottle of Rum to Sylph, scooping up the 7 coins as well as the single coin as a tip. "Thankssir," he growled. "Don't think so, unless ye' got a lady under that armor with ye'," the man slurred. Sofia shrugs. "Too many to count. Rorik liked to associate himself closely with his business partners and shippers and such, he made acquaintances anywhere he could." -
It's called Extortion, though, which I feel gives it the flavor it needs.

The thankful bard (whose jar was totally empty save Erik's coin) noted his benefactor walked over, and suddenly struck up a slow, powerful tune, reminiscent of the low, booming beat of war drums as an army would march forth. It sounded...well, off, on the bagpipes, but Erik couldn't help but feel rather Inspired by the music. "Like I said, we barely even had any competition, much less any rivals that would go as far as to kill him to take him out of business." "It was fairly early...I came straight from my room and into his so we could get a start on the day touring the markets, and...there he was." "He was the head of his own merchant company, but as far as physical possessions, no. He was much more a norseman than I ever was, he hardly ever put any stock in luxuries for himself. He only placed true value in influence and sway, not gemstones nor jewelry." -
It doesn't have to make sense. Thormanil made 2000+ gold killing barnyard animals.
-
I said it works like Sentinel, not Guardian Angel. It doesn't protect against negative effects. I figure gold is the reasonable counter-balance for that.

"Assorted wares, mostly generic supplies. Clothing, food, liquor...we were into the cloth business, but prices have been all over the place in the past month or so ago for some reason. We arrived hardly a week ago, we were to negotiate some new trade agreements with the shops. I guess he was hoping we could expand to Eubric, but there's barely any space between the Hinckwells and the Shadeuax." "Yes, I wasn't....entirely sure what to do when I...I found him, and I didn't feel at all comfortable leaving him there, but...anything that'll you help you bring this murderer to justice." "It's good to meet you two as well. I believe that just leaves your party leader. Then we can go upstairs, unless you want to investigate the bar some more." -

The bard looked elated as Erik tossed him a coin. "Thank you, good sir!" He looked eager for more, or maybe just a conversation, but Erik was already at the bar. "Got plenty'a drinkssir," the bartender half-growled. The Inn of the Winking Gargoyle Ambrosia - Causes the reinforced-effect, double the target's defense for the duration of one battle. Costs 43 gold. Flame-distilled Brandy - Causes the encouraged- and the immune to ice-effects for the duration of one battle. Costs 23 gold. Mulled Wine - Causes the inspired-effect, doubling the target's current and maximum health for the duration of one battle. Costs 48 gold. Rum - The favorite drink of any common pirate, giving it to them makes them your friend. Does not work on pirate leaders, though. Costs 7 gold. -
I had an idea for Black Knight's Shield (Extortion: it's essentially Sentinel, but the Black Knight gains gold equal to the amount of damage protected), but it's very different from the current one.
-
I love it because it's almost like being immune to all effects. And with the Pheles Rod, I can probably take whatever effect is is for the round it needs to wear off. Right now my goal is to get immunity to all elements in it, too. It shall be the ultimate defensive artifact!
-
Regulator...maybe. Mass Special Mirror is a lot of fun.

I pride Atramor on being a jack-of-all-trades. Healer, tank, offense, support. Anything I need. I mean, he's probably not as effective as others in each field, but I like adaptable characters.

"It is good to meet you Sylph, and you as well, Nessa. I'm happy to meet anyone who's willing to help out a stranger, whether it's your job or not. Like I mentioned, I have no idea who would want Rorik dead...we're both from Vartland, and he was a very reputable trader there, but...well, it's not like Eubric, the merchant families aren't always in a squabble for power. I'll let you search his room once your companions arrive, I didn't touch anything in there yet, so any evidence is still....well....fresh." Sofia looked around for a moment, and dropped her voice. "If you'd like to get a head start, you may want to ask around the bar. It's a small, low-key inn, so I doubt very many outside of it knew he was even here..."
