Heroica RPG - Quest #69: The Hook on the Other Hand
CMP replied to CMP's topic in The Heroica Archive
The woman looks up. She bears a soft smile on her face, but it does little to hide her obvious grief. Nonetheless, she seems to try and avoid dwelling on her thoughts for too long. "That would be me, yes. And you are Sylph Solanum?" -

On the first step inside, they find an irritated-looking creature slinging drinks to a most unsavory-looking individual... ...and off to the right, they note an excited bard blowing away at his bagpipes behind a tip jar and a solitary hooded girl in the corner.... ...towards the left, a shady mercenary-type is speaking to a bright orange woman....thing..... ...and in the back sits the familiar woman in red seen hovering around the Quest board in the hall, giving the heroes a brief wave. Also, the heroes decide not to dwell on the suspiciously similar-looking walls. They have more important things to focus on. Obviously. Welcome to the Quest, I'm glad to have you all. Feel free to talk around the bar, but I won't really begin until everybody confirms.
-
The woman in red returns to the Hall and heads straight to the Quest board. "Hmm...these five will do quite well, I hope..." She took a few moments to scribble down the names of the chosen heroes before turning on her heel and exiting. Well, he's married to Hestia.
-
Take out Nemo and make it 6. Hell, take out Hestia and you've killed 5 plus a hero.
-
No, I know the Wolfgang is far more than that, but in an in-character sense of things, you can't associate the Wolfgang with Donny or Violetta or Steerpike anymore. It doesn't seem like anyone knows all that much of Ulric, to most in Eubric, he's just 'that guy that leads the Wolfgang'.... ....Or maybe he's not? I've always kind of been under the assumption he's been the puppetmaster behind all that, gaining her power through people like his generals rather than directly...which, it sounds like he was, but I guess that's changing. I meant in more of an influential sense. I always thought those three were pretty much what everyone thought when someone said 'Wolfgang'. I hope not. Ulric seems like even more of a genius now, it'd be a shame for him to be outdone, even if it's by Baba.
-
I'm not saying they're not a threat, it's just that with Donny, Violetta, and Steerpike's death, they don't seem as outright powerful. Instead of widely-recognized vigilantes leading the hordes of clueless thugs in the name of some guy half of Eubric knows almost nothing about...you just have hordes of clueless thugs. For lack of a better example, think Stormtroopers, Darth Vader, and the Emperor. Do Stormtroopers really seem all that terrifying without Darth Vader to lead them? Sure, the mastermind behind everything is still alive, but the guy keeping him connected to his soldiers and the masses is gone. I don't think Copper Fox is a member of the Wolfgang, but he's probably the one Donny referred to...he is the one that trains the heroes, so it'd only make sense he has ties to the Wolfgang in order to train Beast Warriors.
-
But the real plot hasn't even shown up yet! I seriously doubt if Quest 66 had failed, every single member of every single house would've died. They probably had specific targets picked out that would've severely damaged relationships between the houses, maybe... Argh. It just seems a shame that Ulric is the only notable Wolfgang member left. I know Donny and Violetta saw themselves as just pawns, but it's like taking the face off the Wolfgang for them to die. All we've heard of Ulric is that he's assumedly the big bad wolf of Eubric, nothing beyond that...it leaves me wondering how the Wolfgang would expect to maintain sway if their three main leaders are dead. Now they just seem like a band of thugs, I doubt most of the goons know anything of Ulric's intentions beyond 'making Eubric better'.
-
They never had their blaze of glory. They got their butts handed to them in both their respective Quests, and the Wolfgang is the faction the plot revolves around, I believe. I just find it hard to believe Ulric's three best generals all die in the same Quest. Reno had an awesome death. He died trying to complete a plan that would've changed the face of the Bonapartes forever, where Ulric hasn't even shown his face yet.
-
That was way too anti-climatic, now I'm sure Donny and Violetta are gonna show up again...

I was thinking in more of a lynching kind of way. Don't you wanna lynch me? Doesn't my heedless grin make you want to just scream out in fury? Would you feel more fulfilled if you were to simply fry my brains out with a toaster in a bathtub, or have the entire town burn me at the stake as me and my silly hat shrivel up like a burnt french fry? I think you all know the answer. -

The Jester here! Somebody kill me, please!! -
Conspirator is darkness elemental and Russel's Encouraged, so he should be dealing 66 damage. Atramor felt his health sap away as the General's sword tore through him - but without question he did just the same, sending the being spiraling backwards. He saw one of the soldiers blundering around blinded only a short distance away. "Good hit, Russel, see if ya' can't take out that other soldier now, too." He continued his duel with the Rebel General, the Pheles Rod practically aglow as he swung it violently in the front row. Battle Order Russel Tesni Atramor attacks Rebel General, front row - Althior Ellaria If everyone's okay with it, we can autoroll until I'm down to say, 35 health, with Russel alternating between Soldier A, Soldier B, and the Prince.
-
Oh, right. I'm thinking of the reasoning it was clarified for enemies, not heroes.
-
"Just keep up your attack, mate, it'll make my job a lot easier if ya' take that soldier's eyes out."
-
The wording of Stunned has always been like that, but people assumed 'turn' meant 'round', I think.
-
No, apparently it was always meant to be like that, but everyone but Sandy had been running it as 'the enemy cannot act next round', basically.
-
The reason I think it should change is because that's how the Stunned effect was once worded, it doesn't literally mean the Stunned effect is applied only next round. Remember how that's what everyone thought it did until around Quest 38 or so? Your call, though.
-
Yeah, but I believe the effect is still physically there, just doesn't do anything until the next round. That's how it works for the Hexed effect, anyway. Atramor winced at Althior's awful pun. "Hardly worth havin' your power doubled....the hell are you Afflicted with, anyway?"
-
Oh, nevermind, Nurture removed it. I missed that. The first round of battle was almost a blur to Atramor. The Pheles Rod bounced off the General's sword - and before he knew it, countless others were swinging at him at once. The weaker blows were dampening by the Rat's Hide, while the stronger were quickly tended to by Ellaria. In retaliation, however, he halved the entire enemy team, delivering instantly fatal blows to four soldiers in quick succession, without even using his weapon. He pushed the final footsoldier to the ground, head at a twisted angle, lying broken among his fellows. Atramor couldn't help but smirk at the long-dead warriors. He hardly felt scratched, invigorated by both the staff and Tesni's furious war cry. "Ya' really need to get yourself stronger soldiers." With that, he again took another swing at the Rebel General in the front row. Battle Order Russel Tesni Atramor attacks Rebel General, front row - Althior Ellaria
-
Alright. Am I right in thinking Russel's rolling Special Damage on the Soldier isn't Special Mirrored by me, at the expense of the Stunned effect on me being removed? I'm honestly not sure on that... Last full OOC post, promise.
-
All damage and Special Damage is redirected to me, he's in no danger at all anyway.
