Great to see old players returning to the game.

A worn-looking orc walks into the Hall, taking a quick look over the Quest board. "Huh. Lot of names. Maybe things aren't as bad as they say." Heroica RPG - Quest #85: Visions of an Unblinking Terror
CMP replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
Atramor looks left and right, as if surprised the party hadn't been consumed in a sandstorm. Again. "Huh. West again, then?" -
That's how Venom has always worked.
-
I'll have to get back to you on that after Quest 89. Unless I come up with another short one like Quest 82, it'll probably be the next one. Won't be for some time.

"Let's go right, then, and see if we can get back to Fazirbar. I bet Nizam was that damn drunk." -
So rather than accept the reality your opinion isn't always going to get agreed with or lead to a rule change, you're just not going to voice it anymore? I hope you don't take that to mean Sandy doesn't value everyone's opinion. If that were the case, we wouldn't have any impact on anything. That's the whole point of this topic, isn't it?
-
Maybe I'm just missing the point of this whole debacle. What's the problem everyone wants solved? That Sandy has too much power? That people should be able to change the rules however they want? Initially I thought the issue was that Sandy doesn't have to run any changes by any of us before making them, but I'm starting to get the idea people are just upset about the way things are run. I thought things have been great since this topic got created. People share rule ideas and opinions and build on them and Sandy either accepts it and applies it or points out some sort of flaw in it. I've never seen any issue with that. If we all were somehow able to change the rules (disregarding how much of a complete mess that would be) we'd be changing things a thousand times more often than they already are. Eventually we'd end up playing a completely different sort of game. And I haven't once seen anyone suppressing anyone else's opinion, just saying that not every single person is going to get their way. And that's never going to change, we're all human.
-
That would be pretty irrational, that's not what happened at all.
-
Sorry. Canute and his mighty gray bush can be quite intimidating.
-
Meh. All you've really gotta do is take wrong step. Then, smush. Damn right.

Atramor pulled his cowl back and stuffed his crumpled tricorne back under his hat on remembering his useless attempts earlier. "There's not a single damn thing out here besides us. No bugs, no rats, no nothin'. Believe me, I already tried. Best chance we got is just to go lookin' around for ourselves." -

"Hah. If a gem like that existed, ya'd be lookin' at the best damn mage in the world." Atramor nodded in thanks as Nyx refilled his canteen, and shrugged at Docken. "Do ya' really think these things are bright enough to even speak, much less do anythin' beyond hittin' enemies?" He casually pushed the motionless Saladdin over, the undead landing facefirst in the sand without resistance as an example. -
If it made any sense it would.
-
It's no wonder the Heroica world doesn't have any philosophers yet.

Atramor coughed and spat out half the Phoenix Essence before sitting up, shaking his head and taking a quick glance at the horde of undead trailing Namyrra. "Thanks. Don't see the purple-eyed bitch with ya'. Hope she got what was comin' to her." He pushed himself to his feet, dumping the Phoenix Essence from his canteen back into its vial and stowing both in his cloak. "Well, that didn't help all that damn much..." The regulator grumbled, picking up the Pheles Rod from the ground beside him, then emptying a gallon or so of sand out of his hat. McCafferey was already back on his shoulder again. "Mind givin' me a refill, Nyx?" -
Machines need maintenance to perform even the most basic tasks like moving. It's not like reviving the dead where motor functions are pretty standard for the body. Using a machine like a puppet could theoretically work, but it's not in the realm of necromancy, so a necromancer shouldn't be able to perform it.
-
True, but it's the wrong topic for it now.
-
Necromancers aren't bringing people back to life, they just reanimate corpses. If they're dead you don't need to concern yourself with organs and such, unlike a machine which will need constant maintenance no matter what. I think leaving it up to QM interpretation is the right call here.
-
Probably, that's how special events have worked in the past.
-
I don't claim to be an expert in the logic of magic but I think raising and controlling dead bodies is a far cry from manipulating complex machinery.
-
A month.
-
Necromancers specialize in reviving dead...it wouldn't be necromancy if it was just controlling stuff.
-
I knew it. That is indeed pretty disappointing. Thranduil and Radagast, on the other hand, look excellent.
