Lego Rep Gives Information on Leaked Images
natelite replied to Starwars4J's topic in General LEGO Discussion
wow...i'm surprised. those are pretty good replicas. the cutlasses and flintlock gun are in chrome silver too! do the parts feel like lego or cheap imitation? -
that's a great new modern house. look at that skylight windows. *wub* *wub* the alternative model seems to show an interior as well.

Lego Rep Gives Information on Leaked Images

agree. as gylman said before - bring it on - UCS MF-scaled Castle 5000+ pieces please!!! i'll outline here why i think it is important for lego to keep producing ucs (not just SW) and afol themed sets. i still feel awkward buying sets that are like for age 5-7. this was so apparent when i first came out of my dark ages shopping in a toy store instead of a hobby shop for lego sets. i feel much more at ease buying tamika models than lego sets. public perception is quite important to some afols. i can't be seen as a kid in an adult body. :-P if lego make more afol sets, then many afols won't feel so weird buying lego. in fact, i could proudly show my guests the UCS MF since it is 16+ but other sets, i need to hide them in my basement. :-P the second reason is that kids need to feel that lego is age appropriate for everyone. when they grow to the teens, they start to want to be like adults. if lego still churn out 16+ sets, then it wouldn't be seen as a kiddy toy and more teens can feel more at ease playing building lego sets. more often we see kids gravitate to R/C or video games because those are usually rated 12-16 or have mature ratings. 16+ sets are also a good way for parents to spend time with their kids on a weekend. for the normal sets, i don't like to help my kid build because i know it's just right for him. so i become more or less a spectator. for the much harder sets like 16+, i can actually have my kid join me in finding the parts and create the set together. just look at the UCS MF. the speed build competition winners completed the set in 6 hours (??? not sure) and there were like 8-10 of them. it's great. it fosters teamwork and coordination. it's a great way for lego to be more of a team toy than one you play build alone. most people dare not showcase their lego creation due to the perception that lego is a kid's toy. if lego starts creating more stunning 16+ afol sets, more and more household will have them displayed. that's like free marketing for you. people visiting will admire the creation, the people showcasing won't feel awkward because it's no longer a child's toy...the visitors will feel envious of the stories of how many weekends they spent together building and decided to try one themselves, etc. it's just great word-of-mouth marketing. -
5000 seems to be the cut-off. I have 4972...i should feel special. :-$ for you, 5306 is a low number, so you should feel proud of it. :-P

the quality is so shoddy, i wouldn't worry about them. besides, i think they clone using the part list from the original set rather than working off of pictures. at least based on the few popular ones they were selling. and they were all lego sets from the 80s/90s like forestmen, wolfpack, etc. -
i wouldn't say that if i were you... click on image for the remake of striking venom! and here's the remake of mecha 1's mech.

so TLC has decided on trolls. then they shall be known as trolls and ogres (vs orcs and trolls). i am still hoping for green trolls rather than sand green trolls. i think they look hipper in green. :-D *sweet* -
yeah. that dark red actually helps you find parts faster as opposed to light grey in every single piece. i suppose if you're really anal you can exchange the tan and red pieces to grey pieces after you have finished your model. i secretly build my MF last night (i was only suppose to during weekend) and got caught up the page 59. will make the front bottom left and right section tonight. :-P if i can find the time away from tending the kids. edit: i've completed the landing legs. it's tough. i wished i had taken time to sort out my parts. i was looking hi&lo for the last grey 2x4 with technic holes plate.

i'm a real newbie when it comes to pirates but looking at this, it seems like a UCS ship that pirate fans would buy. :-D do you agree? and your purple mage castle is a fine model to be made into UCS castle. :-P

super low number, an extra bag of parts. what more could you ask for eh? ;-) i dunno. i think lego qc is sleeping at the wheel too. i bought a 7094 king's castle siege recently and i had a duplicate bag but was missing another. so i have 2 extra kite shields, 2 extra round shields, a bunch of extra heads, an extra silver visor but missing skeleton arms and legs, bow and arrows and a few other stuff. i'm only at the 13% mark (page 40), so i'll know if i have qc issue with the MF much later on. :-P has anyone thought about the luke skywalker MF? correct me if i'm wrong - it seems it is the only unique mf here. so it must go for like $200 or something? :-D

this is great! i didn't know there were phone specials. For this week until tomorrow, Oct 2, there's a special on 7707 Striking Venom for $25 (50%) and 7020 Viking Army Attillery for $15 (50%) if you call the shop@home number 800-835-4386 and order through phone. there was a bionicle and a bulk piece sale but i didn't catch that since i wasn't interested. the viking sounds like a good deal though. about $2 per piece.

:-X it's the same construction as before. stick figure - slap on some slopes and call it armor. ah well, better that way. more money for city, sw, indy, and castle.
-
that's pretty scary. what if some of those misb boxes have errors but were sold like 10years later??? :-P how's the collector going to claim from lego customer service especially if that part has been discontinued? :-P

is it just me or is the crownie from the battlecart holding a new sword mold? looks to be a claymore but shorter. the other crownie seems to be holding a dagger. am i seeing things??? 8-

apart from that sandy mf (the helmet looks _REALLY_ interesting) it's more just a waste of molds. why create another fish mf mold? duh... mf puffy doesn't seem like it can be used anywhere else than in SB. same goes with that fish head. X-D but that sandy...if the helmet is not printed (which i hope it isn't) and is transparent...it can be used for cool retro look. useful in steampunk. useful in 1970s space scenes. useful in diving (retro&modern) scenes. since it is so large, i'm betting that you can have a head with a hairpiece AND the helmet! but we'll have to wait and see. as for sandy's new head mold - not sure how a squirrel head can be used outside of SB.

the sentry will look mighty bland when equipped in full armor and grill helm. the arms are grey, legs are grey and grey bland armor. :-P lack of extra shield is another problem. a lot of the small army building sets lack shield. looks like getting lots of the main castle set is the only way to go. :-P looking at all the castle sets, i think the biggest problems are shields and horses. i think i will stick with the joust and other small sets for army building. this is great, but doesn't add much value. hey SW4J - i think for AFOLs bend on collecting only human MFs, this is cheaper than the chess set. the chess set adds to $2 per MF, but half of those are skellies. so unless skellies sell in BL for the same as regular MF (which i doubt it), it will come up to roughly the same as the impulse. but with impulse you get the grill and armor. and in the chess set you get 1 king, 1 princess and 2 bishops in every set (and only 8 foot soldiers).

target has a 25% d/c sale this week on all CITY and RACERS sets only. edit: actually only the fire truck $19.99 msrp is selling for $14.99. the other city sets have smaller d/c. same with the racers. only the pull-back motor (msrp $19.99) is selling for $14.99. the rest have smaller d/c.

today only, Fri Sept 28th, amazon.com has a 30% d/c on the fire station and the aqua base sets. $42 for the station and $49 for the aqua base. it's slightly cheaper than the TRU sale since it's free shipping and no tax. click on the friday sale tab on amazon.com and go to the toys and baby section.

i'm with vader on the wizard. there's hardly a need for an army of wizards. the sentry (if the description of flared helmet is correct) is perfect as the army building set. but wizard? what army needs more than 1? okay...maybe 1-5 depending on size but i don't see anything more than 10 for like 1000 strong army.

yup!!! but there's one catch though. they gotta make it in MF scale! the USS constellation was a failure because it was not MF scale. :-P i think that's Lego's biggest draw. it doesn't look impressive until it is MF size!!! :-P

but here's where i disagree. Lego has an excellent chance to expand its market. instead of focusing in the right direction it made so many bad moves. like making computer games. or building a theme park. or venture into apparel. or the more recent furniture design. wtf?!?! does it really want to be microsoft, disneyland, gap and ikea all at the same time??? and all this time it could have venture into a new market it can surely compete in immediately using the same creative staff as before. what is the market you say? miniturized models. They can compete with tamika, and the rest of the modeling/hobby brands. currently only Star Wars and City (cafe corner/market street) have UCS sets. just imagine if they created a UCS castle or UCS mecha or UCS pirate. would the fans not go berserk?? it will have almost the same hype as the iphone probably. X-D i'm drooling as it is, thinking of a 5000+ ucs castle or a certain 17th century ship in the carribbeans :-P so yeah, TLC just gotta think outside the box (not too much outside though ;-) last thing i want would be for them to start competing with home depot! ) and not think of its bricks merely as toy for a second. :-O think of them as parts for art and craft. :-P and modeling. :-P
-
i dont think he said grilled helm or visored helm. i specifically recall him saying it was the flared helmet with the nose piece (which is the standard footsoldier). though he did say there's an armor piece as well. what i think the set needs is lots of shields. all the current army builder sets lack shields. lots of weapons but lacking shields. for me, this set needs at least 2-3 shields in order for me to buy it.
-
I would recommend against this. remember the 2008 troll set? it has a tower. :-P thanks to the modular design it will fit in well. *y*

I don't have the UCS ISD but from the pic i can see that it is about the same thickness, slightly shorter but much wider than the MF. So this leads me to believe that dimension-wise the UCS MF is more compact. Also, notice how in the content, the parts fit in just nice without additional spare space for anything else. Strange isn't it that when TLC is responsible for the shipping, we see optimum usage of box spaces. X-D imagine if all boxes were this efficient. $4.99 sets would be no bigger than a match box! X-D X-D the MTT would be reduced to 1/4 its current size! X-D X-D X-D
