it's a great set tbh. if you want army, get the chest set. if you want knights, get tictactoe. pity no shields. also, too bad they didn't make the knights with grill helms instead. those could have been use for massive army building (standard cavalry units) and the visor knights can be the elite shock troops. and while i do enjoy the skeleton knight, i kinda hate the cheesy armor printing. it's so stupid. a blank one would have been better.

Great set. Lego just shot itself in the foot again. You get to skip the naboo fighter and the sith infiltrator sets by getting this. i was thinking of buying those sets for the minifigs, but no longer necessary. :-P

Amen joebot! Your speech put tears in my eyes. :'-)

where did you get such a great bargain???
-
Well, no. you don't need so many MF. But I kinda wish they just do it right the first time. If it was UCS, I would have thought it was meant for display only. If that's the case, it would have been the greatest set ever if it has an interior where you can lift open a portion of the exterior to show the interior. That would have been PERFECT BLISS! Oh well, I hope they come up with an interior decoration set release for the MF!

hehe, good buy. i also used coupons to buy a sail barge. i was kinda surprised to find the store selling because it went for 6mths without the isd and sail barge. i got a better deal though coz i have a $5 coupon as well as a 20% coupon. wanted to get a HP castle but none of those nearby carried the HP castle. :-P i was also able to use the 20% on an mtt set. didn't get to use the $5 coupon because this was earlier in the week. the $5 was only for 3 days. :-P

okay, bart isn't exactly the poster child for good behavior but i doubt anyone would start blaming simpsons for their kids bad behavior. ( i hope i haven't started a class action suit against matt groening! :-P) i guess while it's a popular theme it a controversial one. perhaps they can do a study on how the public (at least those who buy lego) will perceive the license? with that said, there are lots of bags, pencils, and other merchandise made of that show and they still sell well. no massive boycotts all over the world, no angry mobs with torches and pick forks either. just something to consider ;-)

if you want to keep a prized set on display forever, get one of those acrylic display cases. it's kinda expensive in the US but cheaper elsewhere. i think it's because the US lack hobby enthusiasts. :-P eg hard to find any tamiya plastic model sets. it's mostly die cast vehicles on displays.

batman arkahm asylum or star wars sith infiltrator
natelite replied to Lemonu2's topic in LEGO Licensed
Get batman. It's last year's model and soon will be out of stock. The sith you can still wait for xmas, thanksgiving or geoffrey b'day sale. :-P I never pass out on a sale, except maybe ferrari or bionicle. :-P and lego furniture. -
The EF type wigs should work wonders with the simpsons hairdo. There are actually lots of chars on simpsons and lots of places you can make into sets. And simpson movie isn't rated M either. I think it was pg13. SB sometimes do have adult gags as well. Not quite sure why it made it into lego but if it can, I bet simpsons should work too. :-P Besides that, like someone else said, futurama, family guy, american dad are way too adult and they have way fewer key characters to be successful themes. Just on key chars, you have ned flanders and family, Simpson family, the schoolyard kids and family, like nelson and mom, ralph and chief wiggum, milhouse and parents, rev lovejoy and wife, brainy kid - (forgot his name), teacher crabapple, principal skinner and mom, groundskeeper willie, apu and wife and kids, barney and moe, homer's colleagues, etc. way lots to be able to make into successful sets. :-P then you have the martians/aliens, and other strange stuff added in for even more fun and humor. well, just an idea. or maybe they can just run sw until 2011 and go back to no licensing. :-P

what's everyone's idea of lego simpsons? i dont think it's going to happen since the movie has been released and they weren't even bidding. but i thought it would be a good theme since the simpsons have so many wild adventures, it would be a gold mine in terms of sets. you also have so many versions of bart and homer, like pie man, doughboy, radioactive man, the isotopes (or isotots), bartman, etc. so in terms of buildings and vehicles/machines there are lots that can be done, and lots more characters to be collected. probably, i would say on par with SW except there's little to no army building capacity. there are probably lots more cons and pros that i didn't think of. so discuss if it might be a good licence. the best news of all, no FLESH tone mf! they are all yellow! well, most of them anyway.

touche gylman! that's what i said earlier...without those glamorous links you so gracefully provided! :-P while MB is mostly crap i think the kiddy sets are decent enough to buy, eg dora and diego mf as well as lightning mcqueen and tow mater sets. quality seems to be rather good. gotta scan them for lead paint though. these days you can't be too careful with MIC (made in china) products. another plus to go with lego sets. they are made in mexico. :-P
-
Well, lucky you. I couldn't find any. They were sold out too fast! Drat!

Reading your review makes me want to buy the SB line

Blearh. Nothing we don't already know. :-P As for the civilian medieval theme, I am glad they are considering a S@H release. I don

online TRU sale should sell very quickly $14.12 visorak: battle of metru nui. free shipping too. bionicle playset

Sturdy vs interior? That's kinda a no brainer. Since it is so large, if I were the designer, I would go for interior over sturdy. No way would I be thinking of swooshing a 30 pound lego model. But whatever..leaves room for yet another ucs mf! :-P
-
Best suggestion yet! Much more practical than weighing the boxes. Gotta go buy a spy camera and check out all the summer sets in TRU!

A zoo would be nice. Then I can recreate the central park zoo and the scene from the animated movie madagascar! "I like to move it move it!"

Yup. Sinner has it right. It won't be in every 10179. anyone who can afford it will buy it without the promotion of a golden c3p0. the COA is the primary driver of value for the first edition set. Perhaps in the second edition, they might consider placing a golden c3p0 to increase the value given that the COA will disappear then. Target your purchase on lots of $20 sets if you really want to bag a gold c3p0. for those with bl or ebay stores, your best plan of action is hoth base. The mfs are valuable for army building and should sell well at ebay. So what you do is separate the mfs and the remaining pieces and sell them on ebay. Rinse and repeat until you get a gold c3p0. The jedi starfighter seems to be the big seller on S@H, but only contains 2 mfs and the set cost $50.

What happened to the "SYSTEM" logo?
natelite replied to SirNadroj's topic in General LEGO Discussion
These days no set is completely made from system bricks. It has some technic elements. So without proper classification, it has to drop the system logo. Second theory is that the patent expired so they dropped it. Third is that they wanted to promote other parts that are less popular like technic and bionicle and included them into system sets. But since the sets are no longer purely system bricks they can't put system on the boxes. -
If anything it has worse chance, dollar for dollar. 1. Assuming the gold c3p0s are RANDOMLY placed, the LE MF only have 4500 (according to your estimate) sets vs say 500,000 of summer sets sold. The 500k is a rough estimate on my part, but you get the idea that it

Not that keen on the keychains. I would make the minis out of spare parts though but will keep them brick-build. Don't think it is worth the $3.99 to buy them when I can build it for cheaper. :-D I got a luke, darth vader and astronaut key chains but never really like them since I can't really use them for anything other than hanging accessories. I like magnet mfs though. Those are great. :-P
-
But why remove them though? Magnet figures are fun for fridge play or moc. Imagine having a vignette with proper floating mfs!
