sorry little dude. i'm on purchase mode this week. tru having a buy 2 get 3rd free sale. weekend will be spent going around all the local tru to buy all the sets i want. :-P give me some advise here. which number should i keep for myself: 785, 1116, 3688 or 4972? let's post all the serial numbers and see how high the numbers go or who has the best numbers. i think those with nice round numbers will be in high demand. like 1000, 2000 or 5000. i was so mad i didn't get like 777 or 1111 or 787. wtf...just 2 numbers away...ugh!

Interim result better than expected !!

classic doesn't mean old. classic has to have some degree of success to be classic. SW can be classic even if its relatively new. definition of classic: 1 - belonging to the highest rank or class 2 - a work recognized as definitive in its field 3 - having lasting significance or worth; enduring 4 - typical example 5 - superior example of its kind 6 - traditional looking at the SW sets, you will notice that many of them fit that definition. which is sad for my pocket since i cannot afford to e-bay buy them. :-P -
i saw we put that together with star wars! >:-) :-P

there's no fleshtones in stormtrooper packs. only black faceless heads. :-P not trying to be a smartass mind you. :-P

so the chess set might be a better army builder. it's about $2 per mf, vs $3.99 for the impulse set. unless the impulse set has something extra. i don't count the armor as extra though. :-P can you describe the accessories for both the sentry and the wizard sets? they could be ripping us blind if it's just like PAB mf... no more than 5 parts (head, torso, legs, hair/head gear, armor) and 1 accessory.

Have you heard of Victorian inspired steam-powered mechanical robots? Well if you have, you probably heard of steampunk - it is a mix of old and new technologies and asks the question,

alright...i got wind from my wife that 4 large boxes came today. i didn't order anything lately so they must be the ucs mf! though i was expecting 5. will know tonight. edit: got my 4 boxes. anyway, i checked all and nope, no golden c3p0. i have 785, 1116, 3688 and 4972. which number should i take? :-P unfortunately i had to make a small slit in each envelope. hope that doesn't reduce the value too much. :-P i was going through my boxes, and one of the boxes has an extra head. a regular fleshtone. i thought initially that was the hans solo, but i found the hans solo and princess leia in another bag. strange...

hmm, you're right. count dooku is quite a famous char in the movie. strange that we haven't gotten a mf yet after 7 years in production. :-P

Castle Team: The New Role of Fan Feedback
natelite replied to ellerb's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
great design ideas. would have love to see some of the sets you guys built made into sets. i like the stable. marketplace and others may be too tame for the kids. but a barrack, stable, guard tower/house, maybe a town center might be a good hit. i like the modular concept with the castle. would have like expansion packs. :-P the back of the castle looked strangely empty. the throne room is too vulnerable too. :-P will we see expansion packs for afols? kinda like how cafe corner did for city fans, maybe they can start out with a center tower for the castle fans. :-P i hope they are going to release the conceptual warhammer with the dwarves set! big gigantic ones! if only i can make my WoW paladin with them hammers :-P -
so what is your number anyway? wanna trade? ;-) low 1,000 is kinda neat. unless your is low 100. *sing* i would be so jealous! i haven't gotten mine yet. damnit. i hope the post office didn't mess it up and lost it. hoping for a super low number as well. :-P otherwise i would do a review if i got mine. gotten the kings castle (7094) from the tru sale. woopee. funny thing was i gotten a duplicate polybag containing the mf heads, shields and the silver visor. i was missing another polybag but have filed a complaint with customer service for the missing parts. it's the first time for me to see such a poor mistake. usually it's only 1 or 2 missing parts at most. i suggest that you at least check all the parts in your ucs mf against the part list. imagine the horror when you open it in the future only to find this sort of mistake!!! (don't wanna be SOL, you know ;-) )

now you can complete your collection by buying them on sale this week from tru! buy 2 get 3rd free sale.

those in the US, get your butt down to TRU for a buy 2 get 3rd free sale. this week only. all city, all CASTLE!!!, all creator, all EF, all mars, all aqua, all bionicle, and racers sets. too bad no HP or SW or SB. sorry!

there is no rationale behind the numbers. it's randomly picked and once they used the range they move on. but sometimes coming back to the same range again. i don't know who would be geeky enough to try and discipher the meaning of the lego set numbers. :-P
-
not really sales but i think gylman and everyone else would be happy to know that CAD is now 1:1 vs USD. :-P if you drive across the border and shop in the states, it will be like a 40% d/c everyday! woo hoo.. *y*

in my opinion even if the second wave is more limited, it will still be cheaper. i have not seen any set that is more expensive because it is missing something. if indeed the second wave is cheaper, isn't it easy to just throw away the certificate and it will become a second wave version? in the past, we have seen second wave sets become more valuable because of a change in parts, but never for missing parts. eg, CTT - LULS mace windu -> non-LULS MW + additional clone trooper. if TLC were to put a chrome gold C3P0 in the second wave..... but then i would pity those who bought the C3P0 MF from ebay for $200+

so the good knight impulse set is actually sentry? i'm kinda disappointed. only 4 sets? well, let's hope it won't suffer the same fate as the vikings.
-
this set is now available from s@h for the us for $129.99. whoa...wasn't expecting that. was kinda expecting $99.99. well, let's hope amazon screwed up on the pricing again and list for $99.99 :-P

i can't view flickr right now (office banned the ip address). is that the us or europe? socal - i assume is south california? that's weird, i just checked my lego.com order status and it is still backordered. damnit! i don't get it. the distribution center is in ct, if anything i should get it first before socal! :-P

The best moment was when I was buying a duplo set (thomas the tank engine) for my son and seeing the stealth hunter EF set, thinking "whoa

Something is terribly wrong with the construction. You can see it is sort of just dragging its hind legs. The front legs were so wobbly it's almost like a drunk trying to walk. The second movie seems better. You can pretty much expect a lot of wear on the hind legs if the mechanism was to drag the hind legs. I suppose it was designed cheaply to make use of 3 legged support and simple motion by operating in pairs (front left and back right, vs front right and back left). If it were designed with proper movement, the balancing act would have been much tougher since you need to move one leg at a time and push/support on the diagonal leg (eg, front left forward, pushing on hind right. Hind right forward, leaning on front left, etc). Much harder. but i probably have unrealistic expectation. if it took honda way more money than $99 to make the asimo walking robot, how can i expect the At-At to work better than that?

i was wondering where all those sail barges went last year when they had the buy 2 get 3rd free sale. not all stores are the same though. some are more retarded than others. i prefer the times square tru. they are much more reasonable than the other stores. i don't see them hiding any sets (eg, 6212 x-wing was available there when everywhere else is empty). they take all tru coupons, while other tru stores will come up with stupid excuses like only one coupon is permitted, or that coupon is not valid with sale items or other b/s like that. it's annoying because i had to go other tru stores to complete the purchase or walk another round in that store and try another cashier in 1 hour. digressing....but related... i recalled trying to buy a "happy feet" dvd for my son during the dvd sale, and i couldn't find any on the shelves. i then spotted 4-5 boxes full hiding behind the service counter and asked the lady there if i can get a WS version. so yeah, i do think they hide stuff during sale. it's no surprise they would do that to lego sets too. if you want to buy normal sets at retail price, i suggest tapping amazon.com first. they ship for free (above $25 in purchase) and usually charges no tax, which comes to cheaper than walmart or target. for sale items though, nothing beats finding clearance sets for a good price at either walmart, target or tru. :-P for eg, during august in tru, the ucs batmobile was on clearance for $49.99, with a further 20% d/c for clearance items. there was an online coupon from toysrus.com for another 20% off, and another email coupon for $5 off $25 total purchase. total purchase incl tax comes up to $29, which is like 60% off. :-D

good moc. bad comic. when i saw that pic, i was like "what the..." it's clear the comic illustrator is no steven spielberg. just not my cuppa joe/tea.

What are your biggest Lego dissapointments?
natelite replied to Batbrick's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Nothing beats shoddy parts for biggest disappointment. I wasn't really expecting a significant deterioration when they considered moving production to mexico and elsewhere but my experience with the caf -
finished building the cafe corner with my kid over the weekend. set was awesome visually. the design and build was unique and innovative (the corner was superbly done - using turntables to create - who knew?). unfortunately the bricks were definitely of poorer quality. colors have different shades even for the same group (the dark blue, tan, dark red were in noticably different shades for almost every brick). the bricks did not line up right. the visually unappealing side (ie the back) where it should have just been a flat wall, it was twisting all over, like a badly constructed apartment. gaps were everywhere. urgh. definitely a result of bad production run. never noticed any visible gaps in the past. well, just waiting for the UCS MF now! hopefully will get it this week so i can spend another weekend building. ;-)
