  1. you could use the light up brick from the first EF series. change the led so it gives the light you want. i think blue led gives better aura effect. if you want to hide the brick you could use one of those fiber optic cable to channel the light to the knight. i would just dig a hole under the knight, paint the cable black to hide it and let the end of the optic cable as my light source. if you place it well enough, it should give a glow that seems to eminate from the knight, creating that aura effect.
  2. if brand promotion is the aim, they should give them away. my kid could use a free lego castle costume for halloween!! no way am i going to spend $50 to buy some lousy lego costume that i can get better quality from disney store for $19.99 or for cheaper for a no-brand product at TRU. seriously, TLC thinks too highly of the peripheral products. a nerf gun lookalike for $19.99 (now on sale for $9.99)??? why don't i just get the original nerf gun from walmart and not during sale for half that???
  3. sorry, doesn't look ethereal to me. looks more like a bright florescent light shining from the back.
  4. using this. check out my sig-fig for the sledge hammer. :-P
  5. they are a tad expensive for the design.
  6. 10176 - royal knight castle on sale for $50 this week only Oct 24 to 30. Call Lego Shop @ home @ 1-800-835-4386. do not order online, it's a phone special.
  7. it is a limited edition. available from TRU US. i own this set. it's great... *wub*
  8. that's interesting. i watched king arthur last weekend after keeping the dvd in shrink wrap for the longest time ever. interesting theory about sarmatian warriors = knights. :-P in the end, the story is too cliche and silly.
  9. well, i'm sure they aren't randomly inserted. europe's numbers were all 5k+ and all without the extra bag of slopes. i think the distribution was "randomized" not the production phase.
  10. one's a troll, the other's a giant troll. :-P one's a dwarf, the other's a human. :-P see? *y*
  11. maybe woodchucks and wood are related. if you can chuck wood you can chuck woodchucks. just a thought. 8-| maybe not. *wacko* *sweet* what now?? how about my greenie troll knight?
  12. i kinda doubt it. it's labeled special edition. :-P target exclusive me thinks. :-/
  13. just as pins and needles or pain and torture is to pspguy. :-P hit me baby one more time...... ;-P
  14. just like butt sniffing is to canine :-P
  15. what with? super glue? :-D
  16. hmmm, what you have left overs don't exactly match mine. i don't have a 2x3 brick, or that many 2x2 tiles (only 2 dark bley). and no wrong plates issue, just missing a 1x1x2/3 cheese tile. what is your set number? I built my #785 set. like to see if the error is somehow related to a particular sequence.
  17. the problem i see is that none of these "accessories" are making any money. why does TLC keep wasting designer's time and its own capital making all these crap. and all the while ignoring calls for better factory sets. there are two competitive advantage i see in the lego brand name. 1 - design. 2 - bricks. 1- to stay in the game and to profit year after year, keep your designers motivated and happy to let their creative juices flow unbridled. to accomplish this, sure price points are important. but what about being bolder and venture into more UCS designs than just SW? they keep talking about how 90% of target consumers are kids and only 10% afols. i kinda doubt that judging from the sales figures from their top 25 hot seller list, week after week. okay, granted most of their sales must come from retail stores rather than online, but still.... themes that are generally tailored for kids like aqua, MM are disasters compared to castle, city, SW. i see whiny kids in TRU asking for these sets all the time, and yet those that sell are mostly afol or afol approved themes, like new castle rather than the replaced KK2. 2- keep creating parts that lego fans want. new accessories. new brick parts. maintain quality but lower cost of production. this has been somewhat of a failure. if you look at the cafe corner set you'll see many problems with color consistency and a much higher error tolerance. the bricks do not line up correctly. that's just poor QC. if you are going to outsource, you gotta inspect the output. don't fall into the mattel/hasbro recall trap. the brand name will be tainted. :-P and while i welcome the new troll swords, it's way too big for a mf. i thought that was clear when the consumers rejected the horrendous zwords (KK swords). again, we see TLC reverting to the imaginary "90% of buyers are kids" rule. duh... yeah, that's why KK2 was such a failure. :-| because 90% of buyers are kids. :-| same goes with the larger than life skeleton swords.
  18. i'm at the opposite end of the spectrum. i love the tank and hate the mechs. :-P the tank is really well constructed. just that the color scheme is definitely a fashion disaster. look at the ground view. it looks fantastic. the back also looks protected. the only gripe i have is that it has two protruding laser guns on the back. will probably need to moc it away. definitely looks like a solid mech warrior type tank. :-P
  19. done. you like my new troll knight? :-P
  20. i think Deinonychus said it pretty well. use tubings to widen the contact surface so it won't cut. it's trying to balance 20lbs across at least 8 hanging points is the hardest part. one way i can think of is to use springs to measure load. if the load is too great, increase support by using additional lines. and instead of drawing on vertical support, try to a-line the strings diagonally at a 45 degree angle. that should ensure more even distribution of load, though still may not be perfect. but at least you can increase support where needed. what sort of screws are you looking at? those for chandeliers? :-P while i like that arrangement, i think laying the MF sideways is more likely to warp the plastics. plus, i'm not sure how you are going to support it. the frame was designed to support compressive load, not tensile load.
  21. 14392?!?!?! what the deuce??? *wacko* *wacko*
  22. hard on ON!!! :-D :-D if i were you, i would hold out for an ani magnet set!!! cheap hairpiece via MAGNET sets ON!!! on that note, i hope ms eclipse and BD *vader* is also available in the said magnet set!
  23. crap. i hate it. wallet's gonna hurt again 2008. :-/ was just thinking of getting the ATAP, droids, and battle packs. now i have to get the rest. the design of the rogue shadow improved so much from the last visual. and the extra headpieces...yummm, that was a fantastic move lego!!! good job throwing those in to entice fans who were on the fence before. rogue shadow, and anakin made it into my list. :-o help me!!!!! edit: wow...eurobricks is quite famous apparently. they quoted EB on the slides. the part about AFOLs. :-P
  24. let's see. no mech. building as porous as a pergola. one crappy flying vehicle. poor color coordination on minifig (seriously...dark bley and purple??? black hair??? duh...i'm no metrosexual but i know a fashion disaster when i see one). hmmm, i wonder why.... hehehehehe. no offense to SW4J though...i know you like it... :-D :-D :-D
