  1. oh, i think i got it. it's robotics. the evil guys aren't cyborgs like my initial speculation. they are robots. the agents are fighting evil scientists who made evil robots. there's robot cayman, robot sharks, robot men. maybe even a polar bear next. the pallets look strangely like gold. i could be wrong though. they probably stole that gold from the fed reserve or something.
  2. i posted this before on eurobricks...but i can't find the thread now. Vladek's fortress, complete but badly torned up box for $0.25 + tax = $0.27 from walmart. :-P
  3. i agree. overall this theme is like the batman theme. the vehicles are too large. I do like the superbike though. the wheels are kinda too large but should be fine once you mod it. the car is another nice model but unfortunately too large. it's just like the speed racer cars: 8 stud wide. going to be hard to incorporate into a lego town. the truck also looked promising but too large. need i say that the speed boat isn't like a speed boat but rivals the width of a Black Sea Barracuda? since it is always easy to criticize and point to faults than to to provide solutions, and I don't want to just complain and complain ...so here are my solutions/suggestions. :-P remove the silly flicker rockets from the smaller vehicles or put fewer of them in the vehicles. get designers to train under japanese AFOLs with a knack for making small miniturized models that look beautiful. design smaller (or shorter) flicker pins or mechanism. what i mean by smaller is that it has to match lego's proportion. think pirate's cannon and not that dildo shooter found on the plane (luckily they modified the dildo's design after the batmobile so it looks less like a dildo). seriously...while i am not against action mechanisms, the current existing ones are way too large. like the viking catapults or giant arrows...i don't see why they can't design a smaller part, like maybe in the size of the basketball MF's legs instead of those soccer MF flicker parts. keep the shooting mechanisms on larger vehicles like trucks, airplanes, helis or jet boats but out of the smaller vehicles. the smaller vehicles (like 4 stud cars or bikes) should be used as recon vehicles or mf parts pack, not for action mechanism. oh, and i prefer better looking agents. think black suits with raybans and hidden earpiece. right now the good guys (agents) look like boy scouts with their colorful details. nice to look at but not practical. think jellybean knights meet dino attack. i kinda like the dino attack guys. maybe they can make them into agents now. i definitely like this theme and i think if done right it can have a long shelf life. there can be city battles, jungle battles, aerial battles, sea battles, snow, even space. even mountain hideouts (like osama battles, lol). also they can make various different agents. there's the tough rambo/martial arts type commando. the swave james bond spy. the bomb/explosive expert. the firearms expert. the medic/chemical agent (maybe with a stringe). sorry...got too carried away. i was basically leeching the chars from the pc game, commandos. and they can also make a female agent just like in that game. i guess TLC is making cyborgs the bad guys. that's cool. i like the ironjaw guy. can definitely reuse that headpiece for customized castle MFs. like a big bad troll leader/shaman. i wonder how they make the chainsaw MF.... oh, and they don't have to keep making vehicles. they can make something similar to the western set, bandit hideout possibly in a city setting. agents storming a bad guys operation in a rundown, downtown building or something.
  4. i got a couple of pirate boxes too. i'll put them here as soon as i have the time, which is about 12 hours away or so. :-P
  5. it's batman mecha. it was featured in previous brickmaster magazine. i guess they made it into a set. a BM set but it's still a set. :-D i guess that confirmed it. the mar/apr set will be that fireman set. and the may/jun set will be the mini dino set. that ends my subscription. will wait to see if the jul/aug set is worth picking up before i subscribe for another year. so far i can't say i was thrilled. it's mostly meh for me.
  6. i know. i was laughing the whole time too. red underpants. if the quality is really that similar to lego, then perhaps it will bring some of those really expensive lego MFs down in prices. wonder how well it replicates the shako. :-P
  7. don't worry...i don't either. haven't gotten a set with it yet so i don't know how it works. i don't think it is silly though. flick stick is better than mega large spring loaded "cannon-magik-thingy," zamo spheres or flying squids. those are super silly. flick stick...not so much. :-P
  8. damn...those liberals got to you again haven't they. >:-( :-P seriously though...stop blaming "liberals" for the world's ill. PC or not PC. this is an argument between two individuals. stop talking like everyone is against you. ;-)
  9. tons of spelling error. headmyster with a deep pocket??? highly doubtful. it's 2 sets, that's like $1000+tax. if it is really a school of excellence and for them to come in first place for an engineering and science class only to succumb to poor spelling...how sad. :-D more nigerian scams....tsk tsk.
  10. invest in an acrylic display case! :-P those things can be more expensive than the lego you put inside it though. :-P or for those on a budget, get an aquarium and use it upside down. works perfectly every time! :-D
  11. wow...mister phes has a crazy collection! i have 6285 BSB 3 open complete but mint + 1 incomplete (missing 2 mf) 6286 SES 2 open good condition 6271 IF 1 good condition 6274 CC 2 (one in fair condition - well played condition) 6276 eldorado 2x 6280 1 MISB 1 open but mint 6273 1 open good 6270 1 open good still looking for 6271 & 6277. gotta have those! and maybe 6281.
  12. hmm, i'll list mine on BL for $180 then. :-P any takers? they all have light yellow hands except for 1 hand (i.e. 27 hands are light yellow and 1 is normal yellow). very authentic. :-P slight bite marks on 2 of the red windows but not visible when built. everything else in good condition including visor. hehe
  13. nice!! certainly looks to be the surprise they were talking about. oh well, here's hoping there's another surprise: civilian set. :-P wonder what the 9th MF would be. i counted like 8 on the box. :-P anyone figured them out yet? edit: ack! pardon my eyes... they were wrong. :-P it's exactly 9 on the box. i hope they have more interesting stuff in there though. $25 for 9 figures, makes that $2.80 per figure. kinda steep. :-P better than the pick-a-minifig selection but worse than the "chess" or TTT sets though. :-P
  14. why is it a pain though? i shipped out a couple of times and seems to be fine. :-/
  15. wow..great moc!!! and not too big like EF mechs too. *y* i always liked mini-MF sized mechs not large like a action figure mechs. :-P does he have instructions? :-P
  16. yeah...that's t-rex's hands. but if you strip the hands and put them on those monkey armed mech they both become winners! :-D *y* i like the swinging jets right beneath the tank cockpit though. :-P kinda reminds me of hover jets! MM is finally showing potentials...if only for the humans. :-P if they are targeting grotesque bio-alien ship, they should get that chinese guy...the one featured on brickjournal 9 (or was that 8? :-P) he makes a mean looking alien thingy. or perhaps the octopus/squid looking idea from brickshelf. oh well, i'm not really into goth lego but if they made it mean and grotesque enough it might appeal to others? :-P
  17. i keep boxes. if i have them. it's easy to store though. i like the new boxes because once you cut the tapes you can easily fold them flat and store them that way. for older boxes, if they don't have the tray inserts, i just cut off the glue and fold them flat. it's easy to re-glue them to form boxes again. alternatively, i also put boxes inside of boxes, inside of boxes, eg EF boxes are kept in the sentai fortress box. :-P the $5 sets are kept inside of the $15 sets, which are in turn kept in the $50 sets and the $50 sets are kept in the sentai fortress set. :-P
  18. hard to get anything for original retail price unless it's a very well loved set. well loved as in man handled countless times, aka highly aged set. :-P a mint set will sell for much higher than retail on the sheer fact of time value of money.
  19. i do i do!!!!! :-D :-D i am salivating as it is. on that note though...i don't know why they put another obie 1. give us yoda, for crying out loud!!! have they even seen the price of yoda in the secondary market? BL is averaging $20. and stop giving us R2-D2s!!! we have tons of those already. give us C-3PO. chrome ones too! :-P actually i just want a pearl gold c3po...give us that.... read my lips. No more R2D2 or OBIE. Give us C3PO and Yoda!!!! huzzah!
  20. alright, i'm qualified to speak on the basis that i have most major sets for both western (legoredo, sheriff lockup, bandit hideout) and pirates (6271, 6274, 6276, 6285, 6286, etc)... :-P :-D not really but i'm going to speak type my mind anyway. western is fun with just the minifigs or one set. you have the regular establishment (the union soldiers), the local law enforcers (sheriff and deputy), the civilians (bankers and town folks), and the outlaws. you can have mini fights with just those three sets and still have a fun time. pirates are more fun on a grander scale. but the catch is you need more sets to have your fun. you probably can't have much fun with just one ship. you need a fort, an imperial ship, a pirate ship, a pirate hideout/fortress (6273, 6270 or 6279), maybe an islander or two forts thrown in. but it is more fun once you have at least 4 sets. you can have red coats vs blue coats. you can have pirates vs pirates. you can have edicts and pardons for pirates who invade your enemies (ie red coats using pirates to fight the blue etc). so those on a budget, western is probably a great set. build a wooden town here and there and have your outlaws wreck havoc on the town and the sheriff will come save the day. any set will be fun. you have 3 outlaws vs 2 union soldiers in the bandit hideout. you have 2 vs 2 in the sheriff lockup and you have 3 outlaws, one civilian and 6 union soldiers in legoredo.
  21. maybe war is unacceptable but violence is okay? :-P
  22. haha...it's funny because that's definitely something i would have said. "it doesn't make sense! it's crap." but i never quit. i'm like a bad cold. i just hang around forever until the next one comes along. :-P
  23. i think both sets are good. while i agree the boat is not true minifig scale it is lego minifig scale. :-P what i meant is that just like the 1 person 4-stud-wide car it is not realisticly minifig scale since you should be able to fit 4 people in a sedan car, it is just right for lego minifig scale, i.e. not overly realistic and large. just like apartments can't actually fit 100 minifigs, but more like 2-4. :-P it is something i definitely can fit into my town if i were to have one. the large sports car/monster truck alt looks good too.
  24. good luck winning it at $30 though. X-D recently a ninja fortress 6093 was only at $31 until the last min, when it climbed to $124. i myself bidded $100, but i still didn't win. :-( i did win legoredo recently. waiting to see the condition it is in. :-P hopefully it is a keeper.
