  1. and 1995 beat me up and took my lunch money. :-P
  2. yeah...yobrick reminds me of yo baby, the yogurt for babies. :-P
  3. i think the 7 baseplates can ship flat rate priority, which will be cheaper than $20 shipping. better not to scheme from shipping charges. ebay buyers (at least experienced ones) would just count the cost towards the actual item. unless of course you are trying to fleece ebay by bypassing the listing and final sale fees. :-D :-D then i would say, stick it to the man, bro! *y* p.s. i think we need to have the thumb and pinky hand sign smilie!!
  4. thanks for the info, big D! hmm...wonder what has eiffel tower gotta do with valentines???? *wacko* *wacko* i would rather buy a brick-made single stem rose. :-P the keychains would be the best deal...assuming they have exclusive MFs on keychains...then it's keychain removal time! :-D :-D
  5. i wouldn't be surprised if chester was indeed mentioned in the set. *sweet*
  6. just when you think they couldn't come up with better architecture... *wub* *wub* the creator/factory line could very well be the next classic. so far it's 3 out of 3 hits. absolutely stunning. :-D :-D i wish they hire the same talent for EF, MM, or some of the "failing" themes. :-D X-D
  7. i'm not so worried about the sale of these blocks. i'm more worried about these counterfeit blocks passing off as genuine lego blocks. it's quite possible for some ebay sellers to substitute parts with counterfeit blocks and passing the HTF sets as complete when perhaps some of the more pricier blocks are substitutes.
  8. elves are okay to have. forestmen...well, not so much for me. i like to see more of the wolf pack. i think the wolfpack would make good marauders: nomadic people who rule the wasteland. maybe base them off of the saracens. in fact, wolf pack elves would be ideal. :-P they would wear leather armors mostly, and cowls/jedi hoods... and will be expert archers and maybe dual wielding round curved scimitars for melees. as for designs, would be easy to make...normal MF heads with facial prints, almost like that dino attack MF with the facial markings. alternatively maybe they can make new hairpiece mold with hair + circlet imprint and long flexy ears like yoda's. then we can give them more elaborate robes, like the evil necromancer's except without the jagged edges. as for other creatures, i kinda like to see either lizardmen or taurens/minotaurs. it will be hard to do taurens since they should be larger in size than regular MFs, so simply replacing the MF head is not enough. and making new MF molds will make it harder to incorporate these new MF into other themes. on the other hand, lizardmen should be easy to change. just need to make sure they put a stud on the new head mold so the lizardmen can wear helmets. :-P
  9. why are the redcoats so hard to get. i do notice this though but it's just puzzling. 6271 imperial flagship and 6277 imperial trading post sell for way higher than 6274 carribbean clipper and 6276 eldorado fortress. it's just frustrating coz right now my troops are around 2:1 blue to red. i like to have an even match. :-P pirates vs natives vs red vs blue.
  10. the naboo fighter is best. i absolutely love steve the navigation monkey. :-P that little twist is what won me over vs the tie fighter which is equally good but is more generic steampunk, i.e. replacing a droid with a monkey (mechanical with bio-organism instead of another low tech mechanism).
  11. umm, just call the store to find out. from what i can gather it is usually monday or wednesday. i would call on a weekend (saturday, mostly) and they would reply "no stock...call again on monday." or sometimes on wednesday which leads me to believe that's when the shipment comes in.
  12. well, it's not too hard to reproduce on your own. afterall, with the new indy theme there are bley kepis and bley MFs to form the confederates. add the vanilla union soldiers from the western theme and you're done. similarly i think the independence war will be similar. the ordinary civilian soldiers can be formed using the western civilian MFs and the british the red coats from the pirates theme. it can be kinda pricy though buying stuff from BL, especially for the discontinued sets. but i guess we all know by now that TLC only caters to kids which are their target group. any AFOL projects will need to be completed through the BL network. :-D
  13. hmm, the connection between the hips and the torso looks filmsy. if you could get it to work with any torso type (new and old) it could be a winner!
  14. i think there were a couple of reviews here on eurobrick. try the search function using keywords dino attack. there should be around 2-3 reviews. my personal opinion is that the vehicles are way too large. i occasionally still bump into a few of the helicopter sets in TRU stores. they are still at retail price though.
  15. ouch. i hate people who does that. buy the box, open it, steal parts from it and return the rest. the new foldable box really sucks because of that. i much rather have the older version where the entire box is sealed. no way around it other than to carefully scan the seals to make sure they weren't tempered with. i noticed on older sets, the glue on the seals tends to run a little so if a seal has been opened before it won't stay sticky. i like those. you can detect opened box immediately.
  16. Ops...it's kinda hard for me since most of the links were blocked at my workplace. I click and click and everything showed up blocked. thanks though to brickadier general for posting the capcom secret files or i would have to wait until i got home to find out it was a real fake by capcom. :-P but the new headgears would have been awesome though. closest we have is princess leia's two-buns hair. :-P
  17. so, have we figured out if that's a real set or not? strange that they put the playing age as 6 to 39. why 39??? does this mean gylman can't buy this set if it was real? :-P i gotta buy this before i turn 39 too. :-P
  18. so bonaparte - how's the experiment. any update after 29 days?
  19. nice...cute wheelchair. how did you make it?
  20. I saw this in a TRU store last weekend. $39.99. It says special edition across the box as well. Not sure if this is like hoth set's special or just the dwarve's mine's special (just simply an early edition, not limited). piece count, the box listed it as 508 pieces. so, piranha - guess you are SOOL since hawaii has no TRU. :-( The store was in NJ. :-P those from staten island can probably check out some of the NJ stores. :-P BTW, dwarves' mine will be available in target probably april or so. but get this...the price is increasing to $60 from $50. drat...
  21. only known way to de-yellow a white piece is to bleach it. though those who have done so said the part becomes brittle after bleaching. so, i'm not really sure what's the best way of restoring a white piece.
  22. I'll be scanning my sets (those that you haven't gotten) and posting the story here. Link to page when moderated. Set 6273: Rock Island Refuge The Adventures of the Lego System Pirates of the Sea Rock Island Refuge During the 18th century, a peaceful colony of settlers enjoying the island treasures they discovered, suddenly had their serenity interrupted. The invaders were those who called themselves the LEGO SYSTEM Pirates of the Sea! For years, the Pirates had been searching for the same buried treasures that the settlers were now claiming as their own. This, of course, disturbed the Pirates, as they know the doubloons (Spanish gold coins) the settlers found had belonged to their anchestors. On a remote rocky island, Captain Red Beard and his crew of Pirates established the ultimate command post. Called the Rock Island Refuge, it was the perfect haven for the entire crew of the Black Seas Barracuda. From this outpost, Captain Red Beard commanded the efforts of the other buccaneers at the Forbidden Island and Shipwreck Island enclaves. The day was drawing near when the treasure chest full of doubloons would once again belong to the Pirates. Before that day could arrive, however, Governor Broadside and the other settlers would have to be overcome. Use your imagination to continue the adventures of the LEGO SYSTEM Pirates of the Sea! Set: 6280 Armada Flagship The mission of the Imperial Armada is to protect the royal gold. Will they be able to withstand a Pirate attack? With exciting sets from the Imperial Armada collection, only you, the LEGO MANIAC, can rule the high seas! Set 6285: Black Seas Barracuda During the 18th century, a peaceful colony of settlers enjoying the island treasures they discovered, suddenly had their serenity interrupted. The first to hear the news that the settlers had discovered treasure was Captain Red Beard, captain of the Pirate ship Black Seas Barracuda. The Captain decided to gather his men, load his cannons and set sail to reclaim the Pirate treasures from the Eldorado Fortress. High winds, turbulent waters and tornado-like storms would have overwhelmed most, but not the Pirates, for they knew what fortunes lay ahead. Just then, looming off in the horizon the Captain noticed the outline of an object. "What could it be?", he thought to himself, "Perhaps the trip will not be as easy as I thought..." Use your imagination to continue The Adventures of the LEGOLAND Pirates of the Sea! Set 6286: Skull's Eye Schooner The Pirates, led by Captain Redbeard, are a powerful force of renegades. No Imperial treasure is safe when these seafaring mates are around. Their sailing ships are as fast as anything in the Imperial fleet. Their island outposts are fortified and well hidden. Whether on sea or land, they are a strong adversary for Governor Broadside and the Imperial Guards. The Pirate adventure really begins with you, the LEGO Maniac. Using your imagination and the building sets from the LEGO SYSTEM Pirate collection you can create your own exciting high seas adventures. Who will control the enormous royal treasure, the Pirates or the Imperial Guards? Only you can decide because... you're in control of the action... you're in charge of the fun... you're the LEGO Maniac! Set 6278 Enchanted Island Only the Islanders know what dangers lurk in their remote tropical habitat. What will the Pirates find in this bizarre land? With building sets from the LEGO SYSTEM Pirate collection, only you, the LEGO MANIAC, can help discover this strange new world.
  23. well, i have 2 legoredo, 1 bandit hideout and sheriff lockup. so far legoredo is the best. still waiting to get the gold city junction to see if it lives up to the hype. i also like to get my hands on the weapons wagon. looks nice but i always got outbidded by others. :-( might have to BL it instead. :-P
  24. okay....then it should belong in the community forum. maybe even a post within the "best deal thread".
