drat. seems like i got a new title. i think it should be "all the great taste but none of the calories!" :-P

went to my local target store and the knight impulse set was $3.99. HC!!! guess you won't be finding these at your local toy store any time soon. i think TLC's margin is really low on these sets and retails just refuse to stock them. guess best way to get them is from your LEGO stores or from S@H. But at $3.49 per set, it just doesn't seem that smart to buy.

i was away last weekend, and this was what i missed? glad i missed it. :-D

advice? nah...just ideas. it's not like i had any experience in decals! :-D special = florescent, i think. because normal ink is just like normal marker pen: overshadowed by dark paper (or dark brick). only florescent ink/pen can show on dark background. i maybe oversimplifying since the hue will be different from the normal lego color. :-D :-D oh well, let's see how well you do on my crazy ideas...lol X-D -

well, i did a little search and he mentioned using a special printer for dark surface. you might want to ask him about that "special printer". i think the printer might be using florescent ink. http://www.fineclonier.com/Decal_Design.pdf oh just thought of another solution. would the ink run if you reprint on the same patch? if not, how about printing a white layer on the waterslide. wait for it to dry. then reprint with color on the same patch. that should have the same effect as priming but would be more accurate since you only need to apply the decal once, instead of twice. -

oh sorry...didn't know you've asked. :-P sorry for stating the obvious then. :-D -

maybe you can email kaminoan and find out how he does it? his decals appear great on light or black surface. as can be seen from SW4J's attempt below. http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...ndpost&p=211045 -
i agree. i like the use of EF stickers! the torso is my favorite! nice use of avatar's head!

Interesting tidbit from TLC's annual report

steven spielberg but my bad here. should be george lucas. darn...i don't recall who makes what anymore. -
well, i think batman will tank too. they gotta scale down on the vehicles. still way too large right now. any vehicles in dino attack scale is doom to failure. I just want to quote TLC's own statement - "Now a street sweeper actually looks like the machine sweeping the streets." well, they gotta do just that. design vehicles that look like vehicles rather than "houses with wheels." as an eg, kbtoys, which overcharges about $5-10 on all lego sets put the battank up at $40 retail price. $10 below MSRP. :-D that has gotta tell you something about the batman sales! i gotta say that TLC got indy's scale just right. the vehicles aren't in gigantic sizes. set with buildings are in the right size and still pack ingenius contraptions for kids to explore. in fact, that little mini jeep that is supposed to be a BM set, i think it will be a classic. in about 6 mths we should see the set being sold between $20 to $30, if not more.

do you recall seeing anime/manga with medieval looking contraptions that run on steam? things like a gyrocopter or floating cities, etc. that's steampunk.

Interesting tidbit from TLC's annual report
natelite replied to Joebot's topic in General LEGO Discussion
yeah, i can't believe it is the best theme out there. i mean look at the hottest set list. it's dominated by star wars and castle sets. even if you say SW is not as profitable because of licensing fees (which i don't believe SS is charging TLC for any licensing fees), you would have thought that castle trumped city. :-P long live castle! :-D :-D -
hmm, lack of army building. lack of unique vehicles or buildings. sorry, i gotta disagree with you. :-/ as a comparison - the spiderman theme tanked. not sure why ironman would be any different.
-
is it 8 studs wide? it's smaller than the official set but still retain the look. i say nice job! way to go without using the dino attack scale! if only we can convince TLC to scale down to real MF scale and not dino scale. :-D 8 studs is probably as small as you can get since you built it to be a 2 seater. :-) *y* *y*

wow! nice decals hinckley! that's really good work. i still like the clear decal. seems like the red that printed on white paper appeared brownish when applied using clear decal to the yellow torso. maybe you can adj your printing colors to account for the base torso color. other than that, only way i see is to just work with white torsos? edit: just thought of another possibility. just like "priming" in painting, how about applying a white print on clear decal first to the torso then reapply the color print on clear decal to torso. it's going to be more expensive and more demanding on your skills since it's harder to place two decals that accurately. edit: hmm, i wonder how the other customizers do it. i recall SW4J applied the BF prints to the metallic silver armor. maybe in the printing they apply different inks or maybe thicker prints? -
my money is on either pirates or space. *y* :-) and guys...please be civil about disagreeing. ;-)

i need some red roof pieces for my castle. :-P

ASK HERE How to clean your LEGO sets/parts?

http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/godfrey/...ck/legowash.jpg bump - sorry for taking so long. :-P click on the link above to read the catalog. the top was from the 1992 catalog. the bottom was from 1990. apparently they reduced the limit from 110 to 104F. interesting!! remember kids! it's mild liquid dish detergent only! :-P i doubt anyone follows these rules vigorously. -
well, 6011 has a unique part, the light gray chest not found on any other set. hence the high price. any rare and unusual part will naturally command a high price. see those samurai mf packs?

i like to see a big bad balrog! *y* :-D but as for bad guys, my castle collection is already complete. i have the tag team of the necromancer and a death knight for the undeads. :-P i wrote a short "story" about the factions i have using the D&D alignment as a guide. not sure if i can link it here... :-/

wow...the stickers are great! i like both emblems! the "space skulls" is cutesy. *wub* :-D i don't like the giant skull spaceship though. but seems from the description there are going to be 4 vehicles...so i'm looking forward to seeing what else is there.
