and if you cancel can you get your deposit back? -
why not? 3 normal sets + 1 S@H exclusive early 09. = 4 sets. 3 impulse sets = 3 sets 6 normal sets late 09 = 6 sets 1 advent calendar = 1 set total = 14 sets. of course not all will be available in the us! recall the good wizard impulse and calendar!!

the us is one country. europe is not a country. you have 12 (?) markets right there which you need to negotiate with all the vendors and retailers on pricing. for all intent and purposes, when you slice it by country, the us is the biggest market. as mentioned earlier, the us prices do not include sales tax while europe's prices do. assuming 10% gst in europe, an equivalent price should be eur100 to usd116. what is the trend reverse? eur:usd becomes 1:0.8? don't forget eur is still an experimental currency..and this global meltdown is unlike what we have seen. it has already surpassed all the bear markets in the last couple of decades and by some comparison is actually worse than the great depression of 1929-32. we just might see countries taking back their currency (i.e. dropping the eur) in order to implement more favorable monetary policy. i think we can all agree though that the japanese are getting ripped off badly. they were paying much higher prices earlier and now that their yen strengthened to 94yen to 1 USD, that is making them pay twice as much!!! we'll be seeing more BL activities from them that's for sure!

10Q! town plan here i come! -
do your math. it IS higher. raising prices to stabilize profit? that must be a new economic rule. oh dear, we are in a recession...i know let's raise price!! wheee!!! as i said earlier, the price hike is due mostly to fans complaining about the price disparity from 06-08...when the USD was weaker vs the other currencies. now that the trend reversed (this took place in just 2 mths from oct to dec) they got caught by surprise. since the us is their biggest market, it wont surprise me if they have a price revision before the new sets are out. i mean they have done that study before using dwarves mine and the police station. but those previous hikes were probably just a small test to experiment with consumer's price sensitivity. or the most probable scenario is that they keep the prices but introduce more discount sales. we know for the most part there's a perceived value which roughly equals the msrp. even if you end up paying US$60 for it, would you prefer to buy it knowing that it retailed for MSRP US$100 or for MSRP US$110, all else being equal?

a few weeks? still plenty of time. for returns, i think it's within 30 days. it's 90days in the US. here's what you can do. bring your old receipt. buy a new set at the discounted price. bring the new set and the old receipt to the service counter. return the set and pocket the difference! so far myer only has sale for specific sets. haven't seen a blanket 25% off yet. but anyhoo, i usually just get kmart to price match. unless it's an exclusive set or when kmart sold out. -
i don't think there's any state which charges 10% sales tax. highest i know of is ny of 8.675%. but for discussion sure...let's assume 10%. i think the recent hike was due to fans complaining for the last 2-3 years about the price differential when the USD was weak vs the other currencies. just when TLC decided to do something about it the trend reversed, making the USD prices too expensive!

you can always return it and repurchase. i have done it a few times already with the HSD. was afraid they sell out before i got there. i just bought out the last 2 set of hoth base last weekend too. gonna return those and rebuy new ones! whee!!! DJ is great! i just got 2 mtt's, 2 dwarves mine, and the troll battle wagon for 25% off!!! wheeeee.... it's gonna be a great christmas! completed my castle theme and star wars theme. going to check out the tumbler. might be worth reselling. i'm not interested in the mfs or the set. edit: for those considering GG and CC, sorry - the $199 offer is not in conjunction with any other offers... though you might wanna try...you never know. it might ring up $150!!! anyhoo... it's also good to buy it now for $187. now waiting for a myer's 25% sale to get the town plan! -

DJ _IS_ having a 25% off all toys sale now until 14 Dec. So it is on sale since it's a toy. -
you probably saw the battle _WAGON_ not battle _WHEEL_. they are two completely different sets.

2008- the year the batman died... oh well...bad decision of keeping huge oversized vehicles kill that theme. but it was inevitable. it's not sexy. i was quite surprised to find that agents theme is quite popular with kids. i suppose they have come to expect james bond-esque gadgets and vehicles. i suspect perhaps the same with batman. if only they had made the vehicles smaller and with more features. they could have sold well. speed racer was a total train wreck. the show was a disaster and the sets equally bad. sets were on clearance almost immediately. no surprise there. my top complaint has always been oversized vehicles. so far the surprise theme: spongebob. had no idea the popularity. still surviving well i guess...abet 2009 will be recycle the sets but meh...as long as it sells i guess. good to see indy jones still surviving...though just nearly. no doubt they will be gone in 2010. the movie was not as good....though the vehicles are good, the real vehicles wanted are tanks, apv, etc. the $10 sets sold well though. great as parts packs.

chainmail bikinis with padding.... duuuuuh! there's no pure 24k gold armor but there's gold _PLATED_ armor. lots of kings use gold plating because their armors weren't meant for battle. but they need to be sturdy enough just in case a stray arrow hits...so it's gold _PLATED_. the armors were probably of much tougher materials like bronze or steel. on that note, i think a golden knight is fun to collect but shouldn't be used to form an army of them. i would use one as a battle-king. not even as a king's champion or a hero or as paladins. never heard of heroes or paladins who horded gold instead of using it to feed the poor. btw, gold is very heavy. much heavier than lead. gold platemail would probably be so heavy that you can't possibly move in them.

dont think so. it was a mis-scanning. the set was $150 but may have been set up incorrectly as $99. 20% off would result in $80. i am assuming here... but most likely isolated to one store....not nationwide. -
lol this is silly. the "news" is all one sided. see how brickarms isn't even given the option to reply. it just said "The £9.50 two-inch figures are customised from Lego toys by makers BrickArms, who hope for a Christmas hit." no word whatsoever from brickarms. not even the curtesy of "we contacted BA but they refused to comment." and i like how they singled out the "SS major" and just those elements they found "tasteless". what about the US troops available on the site? it's quite obvious BA targeted afols who wanted to recreate historic scenes and need to provide for both baddies and goodies. so in other words, if we go to a museum and they had a diorama of how the allied forces took back normandy we are supposed to get offended because there are nazi's portrayed in the diorama? get real! this just goes to show how presumably innocuous things can be made "dangerous" by skewing the viewpoint. just like how 80% of all statistics can be made up to suit your needs so can the spindoctors make anything good or bad by twisting the facts. you know what's next? the nazi planes and vehicles from the indy jones sets will recast lego as nazi-philes. seriously...any story can be made one sided. but i agree that "the sun" is very much like "the onion" ...purely satirical and not to be taken seriously for journalism.

BF = black friday. was referring to the huge discount normally unseen. it's an american term. TRU isn't so bad. they have begin to price match but you gotta find a cheaper deal elsewhere first! they usually have lots of sets though so it might be a good idea if the original store ran out during the promo. for eg, the mars mission sale in myers... if your myers ran out, just walk over to tru and get your set, price matched. -
well, i hope copmike come back with some answers soon. i wouldn't mind preordering or getting a few sets just to get hold of that vader!
-
only HP set i got was the last hogwart castle. which is a pity....coz i came out of my dark ages in mar 2006. i could have gotten the small buckbeak set from the "five and below" chain shops but didn't. look what it's selling for in BL right now!
-
i entered too but never had such luck. anyhoo, congrats to the winners.

"limited edition"? (troll batlle wheel)
natelite replied to Squidrobot's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
it usually means the set is only sold by one retailer. in this case, TRU. however most limited edition is also available from S@H or lego stores. but you have nothing to worry about the TBW since it isn't selling well so expect the price to fall later on. some LE sets can sell out quickly and will ebay or BL for 2x or 3x it's original msrp. -
it probably hasn't but all buy, sell sightings should be posted in the buy, sell, deal forum.

no. $34 off. from $159, so around $125. which is silly considering you can get from s@h for $130 (plus massive shipping cost but that wasn't the point). mars mission sets might be worth it but that's a crappy theme. :P -

kmart is having a buy one get one 50% off most toy from thurs to sunday! that is the equivalent of 25% off. too bad you have limited selection after 2 week straight of 20% off toys/lego. -
you might want to check out the ebay link below. click here besides, the racer set came out in 2007 and hinckley already demo'ed the gitd effect with that set. edit: click here -- found the front page news about the gitd LS blade... edit 2: sorry OWK - thought it was a recent thread...but just noticed the may 08 date! lol... apologies.
