edit: oops...just saw the old myer catalog. you're right... $139...or $210 for 2 gunships!!! crap!! hopefully tomorrow they have one for non-members. too late to go get a card now. that's a pretty good deal. here are more deals involving SW. the rogue shadow is now $60. so you can get 2 for $90. quite a steal really. another good deal would be the EF golden tower (golden katana...yummy) $60 for 2!

thanks guys! i got issue 3 of 2008 magazine. guess issue 4 and the catalog is coming this week. oh, and some gift labels for christmas. so the gifts are only once a year? crap. it's quite crappy if i had to pay $15 for it. compared to the us version where you pay $40 and get 6 sets a year...that sucks. well at least the $15 is for lifetime membership!

my fav is killer croc. i'm a castle fan so KC is perfect for my clan of lizardmen. since their hide is very thick and strong they don't need to wear anything for armor besides the europlate. just perfect as it is. maybe change the pants or something. but in terms of batman sets (if that's what you are looking for) nothing beats arkham asylum for value. it has the most batman chars in any batman set, so will command a high price from 09 onwards. i wish i had invested in this set last year when TRU had them for black friday. it was on clearance for like $30 or less just earlier this year. oh what a bummer.

you said that in the star wars thread not the buy sell thread! duhh!!! i also got the club subscription with the bigw sale. guess it just hasn't arrive yet. i tried target, kmart, myers, dj, tru - nope, none has the new catalog. bigw is quite far away so i can't check but i suspect the catalogs aren't available there either. i was hoping for new castle and space pics...but i guess those themes aren't coming to aussie/nz until second half then...

where did you get that catalog? how can i get a copy? can you do us a favor and scan all the pages?

you can sort of estimate the piece count from the pics. i'm guessing US$40-50 (about 400+ pieces) which means A$79-99. so i guess you won't be buying this then! oh...and it looks like it's going to be a TRU exclusive, so feel free to slap on another A$10 to the price! A$89-110.

wrong. the king's battle chariot is the $10 set. just look at the piece count.

all impulse sets are now down to $4.99. with the sale it comes to $3.99 or possibly cheaper (if 25% or more). for those interested in TRU sales, i just found out they restock every saturday morning. if you can't find the set during weekday, try again on saturday morning. the store near me just stock up like 10-20 hoth base sets. also available are the peru peril sets. however gone are the batman and IJ's crystal skull sets (except for peru).

in that case, advise to anyone reading this thread...

sounds like a recipe for disaster to me. the weather will weather the bricks quickly, requiring frequent maintenance which cost money - thus cutting into profit. or they can let the bricks weathered and result in a "cheapen" theme park. a quick lookup of the economy shows most locals can't afford the entrance fees much less the sets from the gift shops. i doubt they can retail the lego sets at cheaper prices than TRU. surely TRU will balk if they can't set the price. even if they have lots of theme parks it's just theme parks. if they are trying to follow dubai's route and create mega tourism hubs, well, how many can the world absorb? dubai has lots of rich expats to support local businesses. the only rich locals there are probably the neighboring singaporeans. is singapore a major destination of cruises? probably not. that means most tourists will have to fly there. i kinda doubt ppl visiting asia would like to visit theme parks. just unheard of. ppl visit asia to get a taste of the exotic, not a taste of the "western" fun. sorry but i dont think asia is ready yet for expensive theme parks. if theme parks in the heart of europe with lots more disposable income have problems generating revenue, how do you expect theme parks in asia to make money? the entertainment and gaming sector will need to take a break until the salaries and wages can support it.

i didn't say they have 100% changed the emblems, i just say there's a very good chance they changed the emblems. Anyway, we'll know once we see the battle chariot. it's my speculation that we will see the so-called "golden knight" in this set. the golden knight is none other than the king himself. most likely we'll see a new visor. i agree with frogstudio in that 2009 sets will see a proliferation of new molds. and it will be the introduction of a new visor for the king. and what emblem you say? if they are to change, it will most likely be to a lion or something resembling a lion, like a chimera.

if there's anything that TLC learned it's that if you chrome something, the fans will buy it! ooooo shiney!!! will we see chrome silver r2-d2? how about chrome white stormtrooper? $13 isn't that bad. i would buy one at that price.

it wouldn't surprise me if they already changed the emblems. we haven't seen any "leaked" pictures of the 3 jan sets have we? and why not? we have seen pics of most jan sets except for castle. we know pictures don't "leak" by themselves... there's a reason why TLC doesn't want us to see the jan castle sets... i wonder what that might be!!

i dont think steve was ambiguous as all. i really don't see what the confusion is about. it's simple. US: 10,000 will be randomly inserted into 2009 sets. Europe: <unknown numbers> will be given out as part of special promotions, such as pre-order, etc. Others: SOOL simple ain't it? aussies and kiwis? SOOL. turkey? SOOL (TLC's definition of europe = those euro countries where S@H is available). poland? SOOL. total available = 85,000. this doesn't mean europe is getting 75,000. europe is getting some of that 75,000. the rest are most likely going to be given out in expos and conventions etc.

how much is the fee and how does that work? was just wondering if layby is just credit...and you incur an interest per month if you didn't pay for it in full. edit: i got the town plan but i want to curse whoever bought out all those harley quinn sets from myers! damn you!!! i ended up buying one for inflated price of $55 from TRU because i didn't want to miss out on the mf. oh, and no hoth base left either when i got to tru. cursed!!!!!!

highly likely. (2 x 0% is still 0% ) i think a lot of the expectation was based on the castle realm map which depicted an elf. it's easy to conclude that elves were planned as a faction. only question is will the theme die prematurely before the elves make an appearance? whatever TLC planned for the elves, i think the theme would have much longer lifespan if they change the emblems of the crownies. there's only so many of crownies that one can take before you have too many of them. would also like to see the bullet helmet return to the theme and maybe a new great helm headgear!
