  1. Agreed. The gold looks good on Tahu and decent on Onua. I think Lewa, Gali, or even Pohatu could pull it off, but it looks horrible on Kopaka IMO. It's worsened by the fact that the gold-and-white colour scheme is one that is traditionally Takanuva's, not Kopaka's.
  2. I'll buy them all in one shot, but as for the order in which I build them... Probably Tahu first because he's the most iconic, and Kopaka because he's my favourite character of the team. Also, nice mock-up there! Although you got the torso shell wrong, it's a 2.0 torso instead of the Breakout torso, I believe. Also, the picture kinda emphasizes how small the previous masks (or at least the Stars ones) were, I do hope the masks are a little bigger to accommodate the increased body size.
  3. Not surprised, just... Slightly appalled at the extent some fans go to, heh. Also I don't see why everyone's expecting a big reveal at NYCC or something - I don't think Bionicle's that big a theme, coupled with the fact that Lego's constraction lines seem to have taken the backseat in terms of such forms of promotion. It's not as popular as Star Wars or Superheroes, or like Mixels which has a tie-in cartoon coming out. Just my impression though, can anyone recall how the official reveal for Hero Factory was like?
  4. Wow. How do you guys find these things? If we're lucky, we'll get retail catalogue leaks within the next month or so.
  5. Hmm, so it's confirmed that Bats' wings are printed? I find it odd that the official images don't show the print, I was really afraid it would be stickered.
  6. Reading all the footage descriptions for the Age of Ultron trailer is getting me so pumped... Fingers crossed that Marvel uploads the trailer soon for the rest of the world to see!
  7. Just some speculation on my part: Lord of Skull Spiders doesn't make much sense - I'm thinking that either 1) it's supposed to be 'Lord of Mask Spiders' instead or something along those lines and 'mask' got translated wrongly to 'skull', or 2) Lego retconned masks to be now called skulls, which sounds a little ridiculous. Just throwing it out there. Yeah, just a guess. Not going to start the whole packaging debate again, but I don't see why Lego won't stick to the bags. Unless Lego manages to come up with some ingenius new idea for packaging, like you suggest. Wow, I didn't notice that before. Good eye! I wonder what significance that new mask has.
  8. Sold. The Toa are definitely day 1 purchases. I'm getting all of them! I'll take my time to analyze the picture to see how they're designed... But first of, I just want to say that I'm kinda disappointed that they all seem to use the Superheroes chest piece. I was hoping for a little more diversity in that aspect. EDIT: Look at the 'boxes' on the top row. It seems the new Bionicle sets retain HF's bagged packaging (or the Defenders at least).
  9. It's more than likely that the empty box reveal is Minecraft; it was just confirmed that it's going to be a fully fledged licensed theme and it's missing from the SDCC display. If Lego chooses to unveil Bionicle at a convention, my money is on NYCC in October.
  10. 'Rule of 6' - that's a good one! I chuckled quite a bit reading that. Anyway, I don't see what's wrong with it - I think it's a pretty good number, actually. It's worked for both Bionicle and HF (up till 2011, at least) - not too large a number but still keeping the team compact. Plus, it's a nice number to have a team on display on a shelf! I've never bought an entire wave of sets before, if Bionicle is returning, I might find myself buying the entire first wave.
  11. Lack of evidence of a 2015 wave? Heck, even Star Wars' 2015 sets haven't been leaked/hinted at yet. It's too early to tell. If anything, the fact that the Bionicle 2015 pictures were leaked this early makes it more suspicious. Assuming Bionicle is indeed returning, the date of its leak is more of an anomaly than anything.
  12. I don't know much about Transformers, but from what I've seen, even a huge franchise like that only has a couple of female characters. It's not that there aren't any female Bionicle fans, it's just that 1) they aren't the intended audience, and 2) whatever small number of them there are only make up a tiny proportion of people who buy Bionicle. Not enough for Lego to produce multiple characters that are female to specially cater to them. Also, this is just anecdotal evidence - but a friend of mine is a female Bionicle fan, and even she is only into it because she likes the sets; she's perpetually clueless about the storyline.
  13. Element Lords? To be honest, I have no idea what they are, I had to Google it. (I guess I'm not too familiar with the Spherus Magna backstory.) That might not be too accessible for mainstream audiences - we also have to consider that these might be completely new characters/villains. For me, it's not between the Phantoka and Mistika - overall, I like the 2009 Makuta a lot more than the Toa.
  14. Okay, I'm officially 101% convinced! Hopefully the villain names are placeholders (or just bad translations) for the real, unique names. A possibility is that they added the 'defender' or 'master' prefixes to make the sets look more relatable to first-timers. Not everyone would know what a 'Toa' is.
  15. I think a new dedicated hand piece with articulated fingers has been due for a long, long time. Sure, there are many brickbuilt alternatives, but I'm sure it's something fans (non-MOCists like me, especially) have been clamouring for for a long while.
  16. Actually, the sides of the mask seems to feature the ridges unique to the Avohkii. But at this point, it could be anything, really. Fingers crossed for a SDCC reveal but I highly doubt so. IIRC Lego doesn't usually reveal much during SDCC. Hopefully we get more info soon!
  17. Maybe the Gresh-like set is a Toa of Lightning, perhaps? The blue colour, the Gresh-like spikes on its head and the use of the HF flame/lightning piece seems indicative of this.
  18. I was thinking the exact same thing! And I do hope that's Takanuva, though I don't see the resemblance (I can't see anything specific at all, actually). I don't own his past 3 versions, unfortunately, and he's one of my favourite characters, so I'd jump at the chance to get him.
  19. I wasn't active on forums during Bionicle's time - how were the leaks then? HF usually gets them weeks, if not months, after popular themes like Star Wars or Superhereoes. I assume Bionicle was well known and popular enough at the time (and hopefully still is, amongst fans of other themes, at least) for the leakers to take note of it.
  20. Hopefully, with Bionicle's popularity (assuming the rumours are true, of course), we'll get leaked images at the same time as the other themes. HF always seems to get shortchanged every year in terms of leaked images.
  21. You know, reading all your wishes and expectations, I can't help but think that most if not all of you are going to be disappointed. Anticipation runs high, then if the rumours are confirmed, people are going to start complaining that the original is better or something like that. Which is why I still don't want to be completely convinced abut Bionicle's return, and as for the part of me that believes it, well, I've learnt not to expect much. As long as Bionicle returns, I'll be satisfied.
  22. Anyway, looking at that leaked picture, we (might) have a Skakdi, Visorak, and Tahu (?), and I was thinking - Bionicle could do a 'throwback' line, sort of like Transformers' Generations line. It'd consist of remakes of old sets in the new CCBS system. I don't know how popular Bionicle is (was?) compared to Star Wars, but if SW can rehash vehicles every vehicles and still be confident that people will buy them, I don't see why this can't be the same for Bionicle! Okay, it's probably wishful thinking on my part I guess, having lost out on a lot of the old sets. But it's still a thought! Agreed. With HF going minifig-style this year, it could distinguish itself from Bionicle in this manner, which would be strictly constraction figures.
  23. I don't know about you guys, but I LOVED Bionicle's vehicles. Especially the 2008/2009 ones. Unfortunately I was younger back then and could only afford to buy canister sets, but a good friend of mine has all of them and they're a ton of fun to play with. I would kill to own a vehicle like the Axalara or Jetrax. Unfortunately with the more widespread use of the CCBS, I doubt we'll see a large, heavy Technic-based constraction figure-sized vehicle any time soon. I don't have much experiences with the mask packs - I had my parents buy me so much Slizers that by the time Bionicle rolled around, they refused to buy more sets for me and I'd only get a few a year. I remember being so jealous of my cousin who would get all the sets and let me play with them. (Kinda explains my addiction to Lego now - it's like I'm living out the childhood I never had! Heh.) I only started buying sets for myself in 2008, and like I said, I could only afford a few canister sets here and there. So if the return is Bionicle is true, Lego's going to get a lot of my money next year!
  24. That's amazing! I see so many new posters in this thread. Bionicle's return would really breathe new life into this forum, instead of just the few of us regulars. This gets me as well, but I guess it's inevitable since so many people want this to be true.
  25. Nice! The way the feet come together reminds me of the Rakhshi's 'jet modes'.
