A friend showed that one to me. I nearly died when Anakin's Force ghost appeared! The six-bladed lightsaber and the swarm of TIEs got me as well. Hilarious.

That was incredible. Especially the narrator's voice and the background music... Bionicle is back! I'm really getting a Metru Nui / Karda Nui vibe from all that sound.

Post about Cartoons and Anime you like
Aethersprite replied to Peppermint_M's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I give up. I don't understand why Nick can't decide what to do with what is undoubtedly one of the best shows they have on air right now. But whatever it is, it doesn't affect me or most of the show's fans anyway, since most of us watch it online already whether or not it's on TV. To comment on the previous episode: It was extremely disappointing, definitely the worst episode of the show, ATLA included. I do understand why Bryke had to do it, and I empathise. I just wish they had done something like create a Kickstarter for the funds they needed to finish what would probably be 80% of an episode (since there was some new animation mixed in with the old). I'm sure us fans would be more than happy to give what they need. But there's probably some corporate mumbo-jumbo preventing them from doing that, which is a real pity. Oh well. I can't wait for tomorrow's episode! -
Agreed, it fits in nicely with Nuparu's tinkering nature. Plus, the Protector of Jungle's bow-gun thing is a nice homage to Kongu Inika's lazer crossbow. Coincidentally, both the Protectors of Jungle and Earth are my favourites!

I'll get a Protector or two first, then wait for a sale to get all the Toa in one shot.

What's the furthest his head can look up, by the way? Otherwise he looks pretty good. I love the raised shoulders and the shoulder armour.

I love her! I think I have to agree with you here, VBBN, that the Kaukau is my favourite mask of the wave. It's a very nice blend of the Mata Kaukau and the MoL Nuva Kaukau, the latter of which was my favourite incarnation of the Kaukau. The dark azure is very nice as well. Set-wise, she's pretty average, but her colour scheme has got to be one of the best executed ones out of all the Toa.

Yup, LOSS is horrible. A pity, given how excellent the other sets are. I've always had the impression that the Protectors of Jungle and Stone are carbon copies of each other (barring their weapons) in terms of bones and armour placement. Isn't this the case?

Heh heh. Anyway, on LOSS - I knew I probably wouldn't be interested in it ever since we first got pictures. Aside from some questionable aesthetic design choices, I don't like it that its function impeded on its poseability. The new Toa sets are fantastic in that they combined the gear functions of Bionicle's earlier years with the wider range of articulation its figures had in its later years. Unfortunately, it seems that LOSS is more feature-based and sacrifices some of its articulation in the process.

Agreed, I need more Keetorange parts to go with those I got with Jetbug! As for the Protectors, it looks like all of them have elbows, with the exception of the Ice and Fire Protectors.

BZP's Protector of Ice review is a nice surprise! Probably due to the fact that we've already seen so much of the Toa sets since NYCC but almost nothing on the Protectors. I can't wait till we get reviews of all of them. I'm really impressed with the Protector of Ice, I love that Lego bothered to cover up its back. Its mask is also probably the highlight of the set. I hate that it doesn't have elbows, though. Lego could have thrown in a couple of the shortest bone pieces to give him forearms, like the Protector of Earth. I'll probably pass on it, but I'm looking forward to getting the Protectors of Jungle and Earth. Did you not read what VBBN just said? He's a moderator here, if you haven't noticed.

Wow, I would love to see this! I've thought of making a CCBS Lhikan ever since we got images of the new sets, but I don't think the new Hau fits Lhikan very well.
-
Plus, it's a new theme, so I can understand why Lego would want to send out the first wave of sets early, to increase awareness of the new line.

Same here, but for me it's more so due to the fact that we've seen so much of the Toa sets already but next to nothing of the Protectors. But I do enjoy small sets, and the Protectors have some really neat designs! I just wish they had individual names, perhaps referencing past Turaga/Matoran.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. I didn't notice Kopaka's gearbox is attached higher up than the others'.
-
I just noticed that the bone pieces on the upper arms are the same length as the thighs - it baffles me as to why Lego didn't include the trans-purple bones to be used on the upper arms as well. Not only would it make the trans-purple thighs blend in with the rest of the colour scheme better, we could also have gotten 2 more of those delicious pieces. I guess the large amount of parts was already pushing the set's budget. I know what you mean, I always prefer not to mod my sets with parts not included with it. But like you said, that piece is very common. It's simple and smart enough for TLG to have done, which is why I assumed the set would do the same when I saw the preview; a pity it isn't the case. But like Kalhiki said, luckily the piece is common enough that it'd be fairly easy to throw in with the set.
-
I really like TTV's way of doing it. Use a simple pin connector piece (I don't know the exact name - it's the piece used to connect Kopaka's Guurahk spear to his long axle piece) to connect the two shovels together, then attach them to the hammer. When you're storing it on Onua's back, use the connector to connect the two portions of the handle together. I don't think I'm explaining this quite well, watch TTV's preview of Onua to get what I mean.
-
I second this. Though, like Gali, I think there might be a reason why they chose to attach the shoulder pads on the gearbox instead. I'm guessing it might hinder the articulation.
-
They look really nice, I was hoping we'd see them in official sets in the future, one way or the other. The trans effect looks really good on masks.

Thanks for that, DV. They're surprisingly small! And I thought the Mata masks were small.

That's glorious, VBBN! Really looking forward to your written reviews. BZP's video review is a little too long for me. EDIT: Derp, completely slipped my mind that BZP uploads text reviews with its videos.

LEGO Star Wars 2015 Pictures and Rumors
Aethersprite replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Hasn't it been confirmed that it's $50? Disappointing, given that it's a really nice set. -
Great video, short and sweet. I was hoping he'd actually unbox (open) the sets, though. I'm curious to see as to how they open; hopefully they leave most of the artwork intact. They'd make for nice displays.

No need to get so heated up, we're all here for some healthy discussion! Anyway, here's a little something from Bionicle's Facebook page - I'm guessing it's a little preview of what we can expect in the animated shorts! I'm really liking the look of these, they really remind me of the original movie trilogy.
