Old Bionicle sets: To open or not to open
Aethersprite replied to Aethersprite's topic in LEGO Action Figures
The set in question is Jaller Mahri. I'm not one to buy MISB sets but it was going for pretty cheap, so might as well. I think I'll most probably open it since I'm not one who likes to keep sets MISB; my main concern now is the joints cracking. Has anyone opened and assembled an old set recently? -
I recently acquired a brand-new, unopened Bionicle set from 2007. It was during my dark ages of Lego and I don't own any sets from that year. If you were in my position, would you open it? I'm not one of those collectors who like to keep their sets sealed, but I don't have a lot of old Bionicle sets. All my constraction sets on display are CCBS - if I opened this one, it'd look very out of place on display. Plus, I'm afraid that the sockets might break if I try assembling them because they're so old. What are your thoughts on this?

Just a random thought. I do hope the new skull masks - Grinder/Warrior's and Basher/Scorpio's - get names or powers, like the Mask of ___________. I really do dig their designs and I hope Lego won't just leave them as 'generic skull faces'.

I think my fault with the new sets is that they are skeletons with little armour, not the fact that they are figures in general with little armour. Well, both, but the latter stems from the former.

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion
Aethersprite replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Amazing as always, just2good. The rear interior is a bit smaller than I'd like, but it's not like I display my figs inside my sets anyways. This seals the deal for me, I'm definitely getting the Quinjet! Can't wait to get home from work to watch your video. -

Loving the Quinjet. I hope we get pictures of its rear hatch soon, I wonder how much space is there to fit minifigs. -

So glad the Tydirium has an interior. Guaranteed buy for me, my most wanted set of the summer. -

Are there pictures of the back of the Quinjet's interior, i.e. the compartment behind the one that stores Cap's bike? -

Does the Tydirium have an interior in its body, other than the cockpit? I haven't seen any images of those. -

That's why we have a separate discussion for them here, for people who actually appreciate them. -

Tydirium looks amazing. Can't wait to see shots of its interior. -

Pretty much sums up my thoughts. I'm quite impressed with how well armoured Vader is, though. However something's telling me both of these are in the higher price range of sets... -
Just because the original design wasn't elegant, doesn't mean the new one can't be! It didn't feel so... Awkward, to me at least.

I agree, Pohatu seems to be the weakest of the Toa. His only saving graces are the boomerangs, his dark orange pieces, and that gorgeous Kakama. It's my favourite of the new Kanohi. Speaking of Pohatu, what's to be the consensus on flipping his gearbox to give him kicking legs? It's definitely possible, sure, but I vaguely remember someone who tried it mentioned that it was inelegant.

For me it's more of the fact that the black pins look so unsightly on the weapons than the ease of removing them. But it's a great mod! I'll definitely be modding some of my sets too, though not to the extent you have. Thanks for sharing.

Agreed on both counts, I think we'll get a much more fruitful discussion of these sets here. I can't wait for these sets. I'm pretty sure we'll see a new mold for the lightsabers, but I'm more excited for new armour pieces! -

Wasn't that already brought up when we got that leaked list of exclusives for the year? -
It's a pity my country probably won't see the polybag. Hopefully some store will get it as an exclusive, but it's unlikely. Polybags hardly ever see retail release over here.

I love your replacement of the black pins on the weapons (Tahu, Kopaka, Gali) with the light grey ones with studs. I'm definitely copying that technique!

To each his own; thankfully, I appreciate both. We constraction fans are extremely excited for these sets! I can't wait to see pictures. -

Cody? And not a generic clone? Wow. All the non-organic sets are automatically sold on me. It seems they were shown at Nuremberg, but pictures were not allowed. Here's hoping we see them at NYTF! -
Nice work GK377, though I suspect there might be some mechanism that prevents the whole system to flop from side to side. Anyway, to digress, I bought all the Toa sets today! In one shot. I'm going to ration opening them - I tell myself 1 a week, but I'll probably end up opening one every few days. I built Onua first, and I'm really blown away. I love him. It's a pity the summer wave - regardless of whether we like it or not - doesn't seem to live up to the winter one. Hopefully the Star Wars constraction line makes up for this, and the 2016 sets of course!

Star Wars Constraction 2015 Discussion
Aethersprite replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Why not? Lego doesn't think like us - they won't make sets based on how well they'd translate to construction (i.e. robotic aesthetics like Grievous and Vader) but by how popular the characters are. I'm sure we'll see Jedi. Thanks! That means we probably won't see them at NYTF, though, which is a pity. -
Basher's arms swing inward? Wow. Depending on how well that works out, I just might get him. Still not sold on Warrior, Slicer, and Scorpio though. Speaking of Warrior - he seems to have the same arm swinging action as the Toa as well. How is that going to work out, given that both his hands are gripping the bow? As for Ekimu's mask, yeah, the point where the gold and trans blue meet gives a really odd colour, almost yellow. But I'll be displaying my Ekimu with the Mask of Creation anyway, so no matter.
