Supercar
Zerobricks replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thank you for comments guys @dluders I dont think i will make instructions in LDD, as of lot of bricks used in car arent there (yet). For the pillar and roof color, I decided to use black, because I was running low on red, and because black looks like a removable type of roof. Four wheel steering was used, so the car can actually drive a circle in my room -
This is my first ever supercar! I kind of mixed the 8880, 8448, 8466 and 8297 features together. The car uses all wheel drive and steering, wherebye the rear wheels steer at a lower angle than front. The gearbox is a 5+R, which uniquely uses both gears of the differential to power it. All gears with exception of reverse are powered by the central diff, the reverse is by front wheel drive only. Gearbox has the following gear ratios: 1 gear 2,5 2 gear 1,67 3 gear 1,5 4 gear 1,0 5 gear 0,9 R gear 1,4 Picture of gearbox at start of the build: I tryed to make car as functional as possible, so there are 3 buttons in the dashboard. The first one when tilted pops up the lights in front and turns them on. The second button pops up the hood and the third one opens and closes the motorized roof. Also the doors have working handles, that automatically lock when doors close, to keep them from opening. The suspension uses horizontal mounted springs to save on space. Front has almost 50 grill pieces to cool the massive V12 engine. The rear has mustang-like lights and 2 massive exhaustst. You can see the roof mechanics here: All the mechanical guts are visible here. Can you count all the gears ? Video link: More pictures including HD ones are at my BS folder: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=436915 I hope you guys like it! It may not be as stylish as Crowkiler's monsters, but I think it's quite neat.

Small Yellow RC-car
Zerobricks replied to Jurgen Krooshoop's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Small but furious! The bigger rear wheels sure add a lot to its attitude. Did you think of replacing knob gear for something smoother, like normal gears? Another tip, you might wanna put another beam between motor and gears, so you dont dmage the Xl motor's hole. -

Weird problem with LDD?
Zerobricks replied to BrickClick's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Your computer specifictions? Also did you install LDD for all users, as admin? -
This is a very small 8x8 trial truck. In order to make it this small I ditched normal steering and used skid steering instead. It has independent suspension ona all wheels. I used rubber 1x2 beams for springa ction, which works great, but the mass must be low. Drivelink uses 1:6 gearing from 2M motors: Rear can be loaded with anything up to 200 grams Suspension travel: Download LDD instructions HERE Video:

Has TLG ever borrowed ideas from AFOLs?
Zerobricks replied to Superkalle's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Seems like TLG copyed a vast amount of the model. At least dmac will get some recognition -
I have been playing with the lego springs, taking the older cracked ones apart. Its easy to take them apart either by using something to squeeze the iner click thingyes or by tilting the head left and right untill it pops out. These springs can now fit on axle on custom springs: The spring made using 5,5 axle allows for over 2 studs of movement, but its not good for hanging weight on it. You can combine soft and hard springs for a more sophisticated spring: You guys think they are usefull?

Congratulations. Though i wonder out of 10000 members, how many are just spambots or such. Still this is the best Lego forum!

Problem with 4 wheel steering is to make sure, the rear wheels dont force steer themselfes. Also this would add more wight on rear, which is not good. Thanks for the critic! -
