  1. Just amazing! The floor is stunning, and the approach you took with the open space adds to a feeling of reverence. Love it!
  2. I really like the creative lifeboat, but overall, it does look like a boing build. I'm just not that into the design to even consider it, not a bad set though.
  3. Out of curiosity have we gotten a confirmation that this will be a series 13, not an extra set? I saw the initial link, I was just curious if it had been seen elsewhere. Unless there are some great accessories I'll be skipping this either way.
  4. I ended my conquest with a gingerbread man, the bobby, sax player, tiki, grandma, scarecrow, elf, welder, and scientist (misfelt this one, was looking for the waitress). I got the tough ones first and went back for the rest later. I may eventually pick up a couple others but for now I am really liking this series!
  5. I thought I'd give a quick backstory on this video. In May the band I'm in started recording an album. My brother had seen stop motion Lego films on Vine and suggested we try one for the band. I had no idea what I was undertaking! But it brought me out of my dark ages and lead me to this forum so it was well worth it. I've received lots of advice here. This video is far from perfect but I thought I'd throw it out there. Thanks to all who gave advice! I hope to continue to get better. Ps I'm playing the fiddle, the bands name is My Brothers Keeper (we're brothers).
  6. Great build! You really were creative in capturing this design, and it paid off!
  7. I didn't think it would take long to see some good tiki mocs, love it!

    Hobbies

Mostly soccer, softball, and primarily music. I've actually incorporated Lego into my music. I should have a music video brickfilm posted in a week or so. It's my first film so I'm anxious to see how it turns out!
  9. Hey! You might find it fun to hone your skills for writing and film making on the brick flick and comics forum, lots of good advice there! Glad to have you.
  10. Wow, I've actually heard a bit of buzz about this! Congrats, this is a huge accomplishment
  11. Agreed, a real shame. Lego had been good to us, we shouldn't take advantage of them despite any perceived flaws. As for the cost, you naturally pay for a name and the accompanying quality. You won't find that with say mega blocks. I would think the money really filters down, from the local economy all the way back to the family.
  12. Lots of folks have strong opinions on Miley Cirus but I don't think Lego should make a series of them in seriesness though, I think for some people this will be a great series, just not the traditional fans.
  13. I agree with your premise but not your application. I am not convinced that kids would prefer the welder (6 per box) over the warrior (2 per box). Instead, I feel it is for this reason the popular figures are often, not always, less common. Kids most often don't feel bags, so they are likely to buy more to get the one figure they really want.
  14. I wonder who this series will appeal to. Kids don't really watch the Simpsons much, especially Lego aged kids. AFOLs seem to prefer variety in a series to contribute to their special interests. This series seems like it would only appeal to hardcore fans of Lego and the Simpsons, a relatively small demographic.
  15. I'm leaning towards expecting a regular release date. Thinking of other popular "kids" movies I.e. cars, toy story, ect, promotional items often arrive awhile before the movie to help build a buzz for the entire brand.
  16. Agreed, I must have found him fully half of the times I've felt the packs.
  17. Well folks this story has a happy ending! She picked out a Friends set today, built it, and then customized it to look like us Have a look! I'm having trouble posting images with this new Flickr but here's the link... http://m.flickr.com/lightbox?id=9753467735
  18. I found 30108 at the local goodwill thrift shop. They had a shopping cart full for $1 each so I picked up 2. Small set, but still fun! http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=30108-1
  19. Looks like you'll fit right in here!
  20. If you look at the seller he specializes in whatever this clone brand is. It includes a "famous landmark" theme and trains as well. Obviously someone trying to make a fast buck off of others ignorance.
  21. I love the movie tie-in. It gives us a chance for some great minis, hopefully honest Abe, Michelangelo, and some classics too. What I wouldn't like is an entire Simpsons series. Lego has been so good about not putting all their eggs in one basic, each series has something for everyone. A Simpsons theme would be very specific to certain buyers. Still, I'm not tired of CMFs yet! This series has kept me interested!
  22. I love it! The sleek design is awesome, and the scale is perfect.
  23. Wow...such an awesome idea and well done!
  24. I was at Walmart yesterday and Kmart just before that and had no luck. Only some very picked through S10 stuff. But I did find them at TRU.
  25. You can certainly give me feedback as I go! You'll have to forgive me for working slowly. I just started my first teaching job at the local high school and I am a bit overwhelmed! I won't forget about this project, I just may come around slowly. Now on to your advice. I was thinking the tone would be a bit over-the-top. Likely, the hair changes will be major, not realistic in any way. One hair style may be some extreme goofy style, such as a cat on the figures head. It will also be a bit dry, ending with an obvious use of the hat after all of the frustration. The story arc will be roughly as follows: character walks in the room and starts getting ready for the day. He gets dressed, commenting on the outfits, all of which are remarkably similar. He starts to fix his hair, each time acting increasingly frustrated with the results. Each hair style is more outlandish than the previous one. Finally, he settles on a style, angels sing, music plays, all is well...and he puts on a hat and walks out. The end
