MOC: my Orange Excavator

I love the way the cab vibrates as the compressor is working, looks quite realistic, but I have to say although I'm impressed how the drivers controls move i too prefer the smooth operation of the bucket rather than the pneumatic bits, but good job all the same Paul -
This was the 1 set I was a little unsure about but it was the 1st I have purchased yesterday at legoland windsor. I actually really like it and I think I am going to buy a second so I can permanently built the alternative model as I think it is as well designed as the main model which is unusual in my opinion, normally they look a little odd. I love the multi function control knob for the blade of the snow plough. It works like the old big yellow technic plane control lever, very well designed and I get some black tracks Paul

8265 Wheel Loader
paul_delahaye replied to Blakbird's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I saw both sets at legoland windsor yesterday, The box was about twice the size but I still have difficulty justifying the cost of the wheeled loader, if it had only come with a motor it would have been much better value for money, I just don't understand the price jump this year on technic sets? The previous wheeled loader cost me £40 (I guess about 10 years ago when it was released without looking it up) This one is nearly £70 so quite a jump Paul -
Review: Gold Minifig Keychain
paul_delahaye replied to Erdbeereis's topic in General LEGO Discussion
UK Lego shops are also giving this away with orders over £60 GBP I too noticed inside the leg is not chromed on one side, strangely though, I got 2 figures as I spend £120 and the opposite legs were not chromed? You would think they would all be chromed in the same way? Paul -

Technic sets from 2009
paul_delahaye replied to legomilk's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Have lego in the UK lost the plot with their technic pricing? New Truck £127.25 (With 1 motor) Front End Loader £68.49 (with no motor!) Snow Groomer £36.19 Maybe they have gold plated the linear actuators? Do they think I'm made of money! And what ever happened to the tractor with tipping trailer? -
I like it, the trucks trailer looks a little wide though?

mmmm, I'm a little undecided, we already have like loads of firestations :-( in our towns, I was kind of hoping for a post office or bank, but hey, roll on the police station!

Hey Blakbird, I've found a broken link on your website? On this page: http://www.ericalbrecht.com/technic/towtrucks.html If you click the picture of the 8285 Tow Truck it randomly takes you to the info page for the 857 Motorbike Hope this helps Paul -
I like this carriage lots, so much so I bought 9 or 10 copies of this set, partly so I could use the tanks as a Octan fuel storage depot alongside my railway but i have not got around to building that yet. I also think the build of the hopper is very good, I bought 4 copies of the hopper set. I hope lego goes the Hornby way and sells a lot more of these small train sets (a bit like the good ol days of lego trains as well

The leftover pieces. I really don't think the 2 big white bricks should be left over? I don't have them left over in my copy of the set. I think if you invert the model you will see you have forgotten to put them on the light bley wheel holders? Paul

aerials found in 2009 new sets
paul_delahaye replied to paul_delahaye's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I picked up the red sports car at legoland last week and the new town square with the bus and this is where I really noticed the aerial and seat issues. Paul -
Rarely, I usually keep one set as original, then i sometimes get another copy of it (like the cement mixer, or the green and white cargo trucks) so I can mod and improve them. I do like converting my models to right hand drive :-)

http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/4592 i find it quite annoying that this part always falls off my 2009 models the tolerance seems too loose? I'm guessing lego must have invested in a new molding tool for this piece anyone else noticed the same, i've also noticed that lego men don't tightly connect with lego car seats anymore, anyone having these issues? Paul

Awesome, I was waiting for the next installment, I think this should topic should be pinned ;-) Such a good resource Paul -
OK, I have no issues with spending £1000 - £2000 per year on Lego, the problem I have is I am running out of space to store the empty boxes once I've built the sets, Why are the boxes so god damm big! I only wish they contained enough bricks to completely fill those oversized boxes ;-) This year I am collecting City, Technic, Pirates, Power Miners, Trains and hopefully a modular building But overall, my main collections are Trains, Technic and City Paul
