Playing around in LDD I remembered that my most prized lego parts as a kid was a pair of chrome reflectors that were definitely always being used as a shiny space robot helmet Anyone else do this, or have any other childhood custom space figures with odd parts that you recall? Needless to say, this happened a lot too: Only, y'know, imagine the explorien android face in the middle and motorbike jacket zippers on everyone. EDIT: oh, definitely a hard plastic wizard cape too, forgot that.

Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion
SpiderSpaceman replied to Quicksilver's topic in LEGO Licensed
Is this all that's going on here? (new doc ock back construction) Stumped me for a while earlier, odd construction in any case. -
Thanks guys, I appreciate it! Made (all but the brim of) him before the pirate mixels were revealed and I worried he had too much color variation for a mixel. I tried to go with a color scheme that could be used for a couple other guys, but never perfected those.

Whitish plaque on bricks - how to clean
SpiderSpaceman replied to merman's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I got that on my 2001 Bionicle sets years back. I dunno. I'd say hard water deposits if I'd ever washed them, but I didn't, some grimy grime. Maybe just dust that caked up from air moisture? -
Mentioned that a day ago on the series 16 thread, before the movie pics popped up. But they've done a good job differentiating in the past though to the point where I kinda felt they're working with feelers. Gave everything a way to tell it apart. I assume different accessories will at least help some of them out. The boxing gloves, inclusion of lobster, etc.

Mixels with caps is the first thing I thought of when the rounded corner 2x6 plate was introduced, and now that it's made it into LDD, I was able to swap out my placeholders and display this little guy: ... also I really thought those teeth were available in gold physically, but bricklink says no.

Cool, thanks!

DC Superheroes 2016 - Rumors and Discussion
SpiderSpaceman replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
It's probably too early to make a whole topic of sets discussion for The Lego Batman Movie, but if the Lego Movie is anything to go by on adherence to real pieces, we've got utility belt and lobster elements incoming!- 8,446 replies

Seconded, that hood is spectacular. Hope so too on the spy. I'm also a little antsy about getting past the disney ones to the regularly scheduled pure lego, as I'm a Collectible Minifigs junkie - but I do want the disney ones. The special series I will probably mind butting in the least (well, lego movie almost counts, a handful are perfect fits, and even the robots + wildstyle are good to go with a head and hand swap) is a The Lego Batman Movie series (unless every figure is batman with a different print and no way to feel them out.)

I don't know if there's any better place to ask but it's not about the sets: has anyone seen any mindblowing minecraft fan displays at lego conventions? As in, foot-tall, fill-a-folding-table kinda things? Because I'd like to gaze upon something like that if anyone has a quick link. Otherwise, ignore me.

Super cool, thanks for the review! One tiny correction, I think the red mushrooms are meant to depict nether wart. I'm a big fan of anyhing jungle or nether fortress so the last few waves of minecraft have really appealed to me. Hope to see some swamp and mesas in the future. Also big fan of the neck plate after seeing it in the LDD parts update, and it looks great "in the flesh".

LDD 4.3.9 Update Released
SpiderSpaceman replied to legolijntje's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Thanks, this is cool! Also, there's a banknote in a 10 denomination? Since when? Everything has always been $100 in Lego world... -
I don't know if I said yet, I know they like to stick to stuff they can do a whole freeplay world for, but I think these franchises could make a good combo freeplay world: Terminator: T800 (2-sided face: sunglasses/torn face) + Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton T2 version) Aliens: Alien (Aliens-style) + Ellen Ripley Predator: Predator (1st appearance) Judge Dredd: Judge Joseph Dredd (comics-style) 3 playable heroes, 3 playable creeps, late '80s soundtrack. Throw in some mini mechsuits and hoverbikes and spaceships and hunterkiller drones...

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 Rumors and Discussion
SpiderSpaceman replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
My worst thing was a yellow arm on the Shakespearean actor. Going to TRU in the morning to see if I can get all of em, and I'll just keep em handy until we get some clarity. Not gonna run around in a panic, but I intend to have these. I figured they'd linger for months. Didn't think we had to act fast to get figures since series 2. -
Please. Cite. References. This has always been obvious, but you're acting like you're quoting a new thing that was said somewhere, without saying where. That's... improper.

LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
SpiderSpaceman replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Me neither. Actually now that I typed that out, they'd be an okay option for a "car busted through highway barrier" kinda use. Or other kinda "wreckage" style models, as if it was originally a symmetrical rounded rectangle style panel. Or maybe kind of a electronics board use. I dunno. May grow on me, but it struck me as more of a cheaty single part than other new parts usually do. I'm not somebody to complain about "Legos used to only be 2 kinds of pieces, kids these day, etc." but this one's just not my thing. -
I kinda like that crazy blocky horse.
-
Sure, like 2521. I missed the rest of the context here but there are exclusives over $50.

DC Superheroes 2016 - Rumors and Discussion
SpiderSpaceman replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
I started hunting back through the thread when I saw 8BrickMario's super-clear closeup. I still missed it if it's in here, but there were some good extra angles. Also I'm now deaf from some really bland zydeco music.- 8,446 replies

Honestly I know bionicle doesn't do this but I'd like a mask that's a black/dark red blend like phantoka wave, with a couple of discreet pin holes in the top that accept a "fuming effect" dark transparent piece, that would fit over the mask the way Ghost Rider's flames fit on his minifigure head. That way we could enjoy the pure design of the mask, but also the cool billowing shadowiness. Is that the kinda separate pieces you're thinking? Also there certainly is transparent blending, like this thing:

That is really clever, the mask with no collision thing you're talking about. The other thing I thought of too, but that's wholies in a halfie and that's bad. (Would put a silly face here but iPhone and eurobricks don't mix) That happens 3 whole times on the Hunter for his dangling chains. Just got him. Bionicle generation one was my scene, but it never had antlers, longbows, or bear traps. Now I am a true convert. Speaking of... Did I do this right?

Yeah the Back to the Future themed Dimensions main story level has one right at the start but everything's found in it. 10 kits and Clara (Clayton, not Oswald- oh hey, both the old time travelers have a Clara) saved.

No love for face breaking uppercuts? Quake Beast seems to have a hair sticks and flower look going on... I'll get that Umarak. And Umarak 1's chunk-of-bark face design aesthetic works better on the Lava Beast for me. I like that there's a ball linkage tail function on Storm Beast. But Umarak and Lava are the only ones I'm into.
