  1. That reminds me, maybe I should post up my there engines :)
  2. Anyone fancy pointing me to some info or guides on how to make one of these as they look fantastic. I might do some research tonight and see if I can build one.
  3. I actually have this on my todo list as I think they are very cool.
  4. Such beautiful models, I wonder if they ever take them apart?
  5. Hey there, I have learned similar lesson building big robots. With XL motors you need short axels and I try for direct drive. However if I need to use cogs, I use at least 2 sets in parallel per motor else things just break! They are amazing motors, my next robot will hopefully use 4 per track :)
  6. The outer rings on the wheels are soft rubber so stick really well. I would not use these wheels for drifting lol. The speed at which the vehicle moves without load is pretty quick and manoeuvrability is very good. If there is something you want me to test, let me know
  7. I do see your point however there still cheaper than some of the rarer Lego wheels e.g Hailfire Droid wheels and Power Puller :) If your interested in getting some, maybe worth dropping them an email.
  8. I think your work is simply beautiful and brilliant!!
  9. So I was lucky enough to win a set of 3 of these off Botbench.com in last months competition. As I build big, I wanted to know what kind of weight these could move under normal XL motors. Nothing fancy, just a simple test. I am pretty impressed with the 15 minute moc platform and how much it moved. I am pretty sure with some gearing I would get well over 20KG. The wheels can take 35kg each, however I doubt the Lego axels can. Did someone mention metal axels? :) For more info on the wheels, visit http://www.rotacaster.com.au/robotics-wheels.html
  10. I was just going to mention that!
  11. I would be more worried about the cable drag or getting caught and the extra weight it adds? plus you need to run with it?
  12. Sorry mate I was not trying to be picky, just want to give a useful answer. If your referring to why the main beam that joins the track is not central (front to back) then this is because the main beam rises(and lowers) and would topple over if in the middle. Also there is a heavy counter weight at the bottom of the beam which would probably get in the way. Sorry if this is wrong, my grammar is rubbish :(
  13. Why are they not remote controlled? They all seem to have cables out the back?
  14. That is bob, George is the one with the Spongebob eyes. Bob was actually last years robot and can be found on here. The main body beam actually goes up and down via 5 pneumatic pistons and around 40psi!
  15. Sorry mate what do you mean, are you referring to Bob (t1) or george?
  16. Thanks mate. I plan to do a refurb and upgrade to George to iron out the existing issues e.g Liner Actuators jamming.
  17. Thanks for the post mate, I must download it now! Thanks also to Jetro! What a lovely guy, thanks for helping me with this
  18. Very useful post. I am always twisting axels
