  1. Wow, what a mess. At least you now can enjoy building all of those all over again! And to install your shelves, get these: Heavy duty wall anchors, all the shelves and whatever needed to be screwed into the wall, that were not studded, I use these. Every major hardware store carry these, these are very strong, and will never come out, the wall would give out before the anchors do.
  2. I've been to all Chicagoland stores, many many many times, here is my ranking of the stores: Schaumburg: is the best, large turnaround of PaB and great selection of sets, staff is great, as one of us here on EB works there. Northbrook: bigger store, great stock of sets and again a nice large PaB wall. Orland Park: like all the others with sets, great selection, plenty in stock, though the PaB wall is sometimes not the best selection out there. Chicago: been to this store once, tiny PaB wall, selection of sets, but its in DownTown Chicago and unless you are spending the day in Chicago doing something else, its not worth going to just the LEGO store and Last is LEGOLAND Discovery Center: they have a small selection of PaB, not to many sets... best go across the street to the Schaumburg Woodfield store.
  3. I love this song! Right this moment I'm listening to: Moe Pope and Rain - Foolish (feat. Reks) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANNtHwMjrok Next in the line up is: Above & Beyond & Gareth Emery pres. OceanLab "On A Good Day (Metropolis)"
  4. Very nice! May I ask what you used for your lighting system in your 2006 layout?
  5. LEGO Store displays are not glued, they are assembled by employees and then sold in grab bags at the end of their store display life. THe glued displays are in stores like target, walmart, and toys r us.
  6. If those are store displays, do not even bother trying to take them apart. LEGO uses a glue that melts the bricks to gether to form one giant piece, such as that Bionicle display you have, its now one massive piece.
  7. Well, I really like the multi color-ness, it makes it truly LEGO-esque, and not some crazy model that does not really look like its made of LEGO.
  8. I love It! Voted 10/10. And as said above, I would love to see that figure released... maybe would be cool if it came with the CD if he won.
  9. I just caught the ad again:
  10. They are telescope pieces, also the new short chains are quite neat!
  11. I really really really hope that the samurai is going to be unpopular since I want to build a massive army of these guys... But I think its going to be the spartan of series 3.
  12. Figs on the roof, Oh my, Get a cop up there ASAP! haha. Very nice MOC and a good concept of old and new. You see that a lot now in major cities, Chicago has some good examples like this.
  13. OK, I'm sold... now the wait begins! 2011 is shaping up for a good year!... except for my wallet, its crying now.
  14. I have no idea what company it is... its one of those look-a-like windows pop-up things that say "CONGRATULATIONS, you're the 100,000th visitor, you're a winner, click to claim your prize" I really did not want to click on it for it might go to a bad place.
  15. Yea, I did, but even if I'm listening to iTunes while surfing the board I still get "CONGRATULATIONS, YOU WON!" in the background. ugh.
  16. There is an Ad on the main forum board that uses sound and its quite annoying. Its an Ad that says " Congratulations you are the 100,000th visitor, claim your prize!" And the ad will actually have someone say "CONGRATULATIONS! You Won!" Its annoying because if I leave my sound on, out of random you hear the voice. I'm glad that it didnt show up when I'm in school. Any way to get rid of that ad?
  17. I really hope its gonna be a failure as I want to buy as many of these Ninja figs as possible on the cheap.
  18. My post was no way an attack on anyone, I just stated my opinion that I do not believe the plastic quality is cheap. I guess to each his own then, as I see these figs as great quality. Sure there have been bad parts produced (Ex: pirate tic tac toe figs), But I think that LEGO has corrected the problem and we are now getting a great product.
  19. I really am getting quite tired of hearing about this debate. IMO the plastic that comes from the China plant is not necessarily cheaper at all. Yes, they do have a slightly different texture, but that is because LEGO is using new/updated molds, and now mix their own plastic. These figs to me seem very well made, the printing is beautiful, the pieces fit tightly together etc etc. And Jeez, for 2 bucks a fig what more do you want? Sure LEGO can pile in way more money to make these in the Denmark plant and make them better than now (although I think these figs are perfect as they are now) and drive the cost up per fig way up. Would you be willing to buy a fig for 4, maybe even 5 dollars for something with little to no difference in quality if it was not made in China? /mini rant.
  20. The shield with the scorpion reminds me of this: The Abarth Tuning Logo as seen on Fiats.
  21. Do it!!! I'd also consider spraying it with a clear coat to prevent fading. Cool idea.
  22. A CHALLENGE!?!! Oh its ON!! J/K J/K I'm happy right now with my close to 40k collection thus far. I wish you luck in getting what you want.
  23. Someone say Modulex? History of Modulex: To start off, Modulex was founded in 1963 by Godtfried Kirk Christensen and the LEGO Group. The reason the company was started was that Godtfried was modeling houses out of LEGO and that in the end he was not satisfied with the end result due to LEGO's different size ratio of brick to reality. LEGO bricks have a 6:5 size ratio, and since modulex bricks are essentially a cube (1x1 brick is 5mmx5mm) gave modulex a perfect 1:1 size ratio. Modulex was started to give architects and engineers a unique tool to create their models from and not worry about scale and converting the ratio from LEGO to 1:1. The bricks were marketed and sold widespread primarily in Europe until about 1973-75, and were also available until the late 80's as a very special order/limited production run. The first bricks were sold under the name of "M20 System" featuring the word "LEGO" on the studs of each brick, later bricks were sold under the "Modulex System" name and had a simple "M" on the studs. The M20 name was derived from the 1:20 scale that was intended to be used by the bricks, thus M20. M20 boxes were white/tan boxes and trays with blue lids and box tops with the M20 logo, later boxes were all black with the Modulex name across the top, and the patent info on the back, later 80's to 90's sign system boxes were all white with an updated logo. Modulex also had many specialty bricks and systems during the "brick" years, such as slopes, windows, doors, textured bricks, beams, plates, letter/number tiles, angled bricks, and (I have yet to find these) pre-glued people-esque figures, chairs, tables, and a few more accessories. about 1974, Modulex focused on the planning board system which featured a wall mounted board, tiles which had months, dates, letters, numbers, symbols, and name plates to make company planning easy. This system was produced until the mid 90's At the same time Modulex in about 1984-5 began development in architectural signs and graphics. To this day Modulex is known world wide as a high quality sign producer for many applications from simple "enter/exit" signs to massive corporate sign and art installations. As for where to buy, They have not made the bricks since the 70's so, they are rare and vintage. You can find Modulex on Bricklink, but its quite pricey, I know since I buy lots of it. or Ebay from time to time (where you most likely will run into a bid war with me as well)
  24. Whenever I think of Jersey Shore, I think this: Snooki getting destroyed... best clip ever. Your minifigs are great too! They look just like them.
  25. It will most likely going to be released for the holiday season after October or around there. You just need to wait.
