Not if you are trying to find one part for a MOC before a deadline or show. "Gah, I cant find that one part!?!, Oh wait, shelf 4 row 13. " I remember a time where I had bin upon bin of mixed bricks, now with everything sorted, I look back on the unsorted days and think how I was ever able to build out of those.

I'm at 16.5/17, 22, I have overflow bins for all my Pick A Brick, and with a bit of step 23 (I sort out vintage bricks, Pat Pend, rare. CA etc.) Step 24... I'm lucky I have a large basement.

...but not too hot to damage the plastic. Water that is slightly above warm works well to "loosen" the head. -

Custom Model / PAB Order Lag Time?
Modulex Guy replied to TJJohn12's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I really do not think there is an issue here. Sure, it took a bit longer than the estimated time to process the order, but you do have to realize that it varies from order to order. You said your order was 150$ worth, that must mean the order was larger than typical and took more time to gather parts. It might also be a factor on how many orders are going through the warehouse at the time of your order. You probably caught them at a busy period and it took them longer to finish the order. I do not think you need to think badly of TLG and their work. -

LEGO Modulex and regular lego brick compatibility
Modulex Guy replied to SNIPE's topic in General LEGO Discussion
What I mean with ratios is that if you take a 2x4 LEGO Brick with proportions of 4x4x5 (physical brick dimension, not studs). You would be able to mate that brick on top of a DUPLO 2x4 brick because it also shares the 4x4x5 ratio. The Modulex system works of of 1x1x1 ratios which makes that incompatible to the LEGO system. Simply put, take a 1x1 LEGO brick and notice that it is slightly taller than wide, the taller part is the 5 in the 4x4x5 ratio, a Modulex 1x1 brick is a 5mm Cube with a 1x1x1 ratio, it is the same tall as is wide or long. -

No. LEGO bricks are 4x4x5 ratio, Modulex are 1x1x1. No compatibility whatsoever. -

I think the new standard is that you get a 5% discount if you show them the card. That how it works at the Schaumburg (Chicago) Discovery Center, you show them the card, they take 5% off your purchase, no points, but it is at least something.

When did your collection reach critical mass?
Modulex Guy replied to Arigomi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Ah yes, Overflow... I have now created an "overflow" area in my house for all the extra stuff I have. I have my wall of bins that I build from, but I also now have a large part of a storage room in my house where it is the boxes of PaB, loose bricks not in use and my MISB sets. I probably have a good 60 or more MISB sets hidden away. It almost sometimes makes me a bit upset looking at it all, I recently bought a mass of sets that went on sale/clearance and they went straight into the overflow pile, I have sets just sitting for about 4 years because I just never got around to them. And like others have been saying, sometimes I look at my bins and think that the pieces will never get used, example: an entire PaB case of 1x2 white brick. -
Custom Model / PAB Order Lag Time?
Modulex Guy replied to TJJohn12's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I've ordered a few things before from PaB online, never complete kits. I know that just for PaB, it does take a nice chunk of time to process because you have to remember that every single order is done by hand and every brick is counted by hand as well, there is no magical machine that does it, there is a person that is given your order and is sent to the warehouse and pulls parts by hand. If you ordered a custom kit, that would most likely take additional time (depending on the size of the order), if you have one piece of this, one of that, a few of these, etc. it does take time to process, plus you also might have hit a busy point where there are many orders to process, this also adds time to the order. And also as BrickDoctor said, the orders for PaB online and custom kits come from the Poland plant, which that itself will add shipping time. I say that you do not need to worry about your order, it takes time to do it right and to make sure your order is complete, correct, and with LEGO's high quality standard. -
I've used this... for aluminum wheels though. Like was said before, this would not work for the tracks because it does leave a coating of protectant on the surface. It is supposed to polish and coat the wheel for outdoor protection and resist brake dust. definitely something I would NOT try on LEGO track.

Hey Everyone, I have decided that I want to sell my Toys R Us Mars Mission retail display model. It just sits under a cover in the corner of the closet, I'd rather see this go to someone who has the room to display it. About the display: 2007 Toys "R" Us Store shelf display. This is a GLUED model that shows signs of wear and some small pieces missing (came this way from the store). Dimensions are 4 foot by 1 foot shelf display of almost the entire Mars Mission line. I would not know where to start on a price for this, how about SEND YOUR BEST OFFER?? Also local pick up would be preferred for such a large and heavy item (unless you really willing to pay for shipping/ I would ship if that would be the case) Send a PM if interested of making an offer. Here are some pics of the display, I can take better pictures to a serious buyer if necessary: Official production number:

Where in the US are you located? I'd be quite interested in box 1 & 2.

How to store Lego instructions?
Modulex Guy replied to legolijntje's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I have 10 of these from Ikea for my instructions: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80167722 They are not too big, but multiple boxes will keep instructions organized and sorted well, plus wrinkle free. -
Congrats on displaying at your first train show! Like everyone said, running one of these shows is quite the experience with the kids and constant questions from both the kids and parents. Its like when I first joined up with NILTC, I had no idea what I was getting myself into, boy is it fun. Once you get used to a few shows, it should get better and better in the long run as you think of new ways to prevent people from touching the display, to be better prepared for the logistics of it all.

When did your collection reach critical mass?
Modulex Guy replied to Arigomi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I think I broke 400,000 bricks a few purchases ago... I still do not think it is at critical mass. I still buy plenty off of Bricklink because either, I do not have that particular part/color, or I need a bazillion more of them. I just realized that I have more Modulex than some of your entire LEGO collections! 42K just in Modulex! ... Maybe if I pass the million mark, that might be my critical mass point. -
I'm also pretty certain the other members of the group had some sort of LEGO brick accessory as well. I think one had a LEGO belt, another had glasses with bricks, etc. Anyhoo, I'd love to take a brick separator to that dress. hehe.
