@I_Igor if there are two topics with (very) similar content/techniques, it is better to merge them, just so that our members can easily find all the relevant information. About the tires, you, Igor, are one of the first guy (and probably most productive) to make all those wonderful mods to the official tires, so I am always happy to see your new ideas for new tires. I have developed ten or so brick built wheels (not trying to steal you topic, ofc), but I understand those are not very rubbery looking, and not very close to the Claas tire you are after. This one has diameter of ( by coincidence) exactly 117mm, and it can be built wider or narrower. About your Class tire, you are probably on the right track. How about putting another ring (something thin, like old tracks) around yellow ferris wheel? That way you can achieve more width at the most outer section of the tire. How tall are the tires right now, after you have added the ferris wheels inside them?- 625 replies

Oh, my bad, I thought it is a bit longer, and that you are aiming at the sleeper version, like this, marked one: If it is a Day cab, then your first cabine with low roof (before the one posted on this page) is closer to the daycab. -

Only the roof is different, right? Now, it looks like R series sleeper. -

[REVIEW] 42078: Mack Anthem
Milan replied to Milan's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks guys! And you are welcome! Fully agreed! Yeah, I can relate to this. I would also be interested to see how this set would look like if it would have 62.4 wheels, and scaled according to that. It would be 100+ cm long in that case. -

PART LIST This set contains 2595 parts, which are shown below. THE TRUCK - BUILD Building the Mack was enjoyable and interesting. As usual, we start with the chassis and two rear differentials/axles and driveshaft. Nice and clean. No suspension. Next, we have the fifth wheel mechanism. Pushing and pulling the gray axle will lock and unlock the trailer. Here, we have already completed front section with the chassis, engine, front axle and part of the steering system. Moving on and we are at the most satisfying part so far - joining the front and back sections together. Driveshaft is connected to the engine. The truck has nice length. Adding interior details in the cab and in the sleeper section. By attaching side panels to the cab frame, and installing the doors, the truck is getting its shape. Amazing what few panels and some liftarms can do! Now, I am going to ask you to remember this photo, for later use. Please note the front section of it, where the engine is. THE TRUCK - FINISHED MODEL I hereby present to you, the finished Mack Anthem truck! Good looking? Yes, it is! Does it look more like a Creator than a Technic set? Probably. Finished model does look smooth from the headlights to the rear license plate! Everything flows nicely! The designers really did try to capture the lines of the real truck. Dark bluish gray is dominating color, and together with black and light bluish gray, it looks appealing. Clever use of the stickers make the model even better. I don't like the very big stickers used to represent windows on the sleeper. Side view. Here, we can note the main flaw: truck's nose section. Remember the photo I asked you to memorize? Ok, I think the truck would look much better, if the bonnet was made two or even three studs shorter, approximately to the point where the first blue pin is, based on the picture of the truck without the bonnet mounted on. It would definitely look closer to the real truck. Here is the comparison shot I have made, based on its tire size: Other thing which may be off: the wheel arch. It is too sharp and blocky. From this angle, it looks much better, but still, the nose is too long. Back section. Excellent work on the details. Rails and exhausting pipes are very well done. Note the cool license plate and tiles. Also note how fragile rear mudguards are. Overall, this truck is one of the nicest official Technic trucks ever made, if not the nicest one. It has tons of details, nice shape, and is mostly firmly built. Underside shot. Nice. Tidy, clean and functional. Familiar Creator techniques used at the very front. THE TRUCK - FUNCTIONS This model has the following functions: Steering via Hand of God. By pushing the model, we put the inline-six engine in motion. Working fifth wheel Openable doors and the hood. Now, lets see the functions as shown in the instructions booklet. STEERING Works smooth, with excellent range of motion. Steering knob on the back side of the cabine steers the front wheels. OPENABLES Doors with side mirrors and antennas are openable. UNDER THE HOOD Opening the bonnet, which is very well executed, we can reveal the detailed engine. FIFTH WHEEL Beside lock, it can also pivot up and down. THE CARGO BOX/CONTAINER - FINISHED MODEL Cargo box is obviously, very strong, and very simple. It has the perfect width, length and height to match the trailer. It has nice details and few stickers on it. It has two winged doors on one side. THE CARGO BOX/CONTAINER - FUNCTION One function of the cargo box is an aforementioned double door. It is operated by two levers. Doors can be locked. THE TRAILER - BUILD We start with 11 x 3 panels, and right from the start, we installed first part of the unloading mechanism's drive axles. We quickly get to the full length of the trailer. THE TRAILER - FINISHED MODEL Compared to the truck's chassis, the trailer's chassis is much more simple, and therefore, unfortunately, much weaker. This can lead to bending of the neck of the trailer, when attached to the truck. The trailer has few notable sections: 1. two lifts for lifting the container. 2. two outriggers which provide stability. 3. retractable support wheels at the front. Outrigger and unloading mechanism designs are awesome! Lifts are controlled from the back of the trailer, via two black double bevel gears. Each lift consists of two sections. Bottom section is powered by one big Linear Actuator, and top section by one small Linear Actuator. Outriggers are controlled via their levers, attached on the outrigger itself. Support wheels are controlled via the black double bevel gear on the side. Overall, the trailer works beautifully, and looks ok. It does look thin at the very front, but complexity of the lifts and outriggers make the trailer shine! Underside shot. Yes, it is hollow. THE TRAILER - FUNCTIONS SUPPORT WHEELS: Works smooth, and easily carry the whole weight of the loaded trailer. OUTRIGGERS SINGLE: Very cleverly designed. They lock themselves at the end of the deploy movement, and therefore provide stable base. OUTRIGGERS BOTH: FULL UNLOADING/LOADING PROCEDURE: Stars of the show - Lifts are doing their thing in smooth and precise way. Manual cranking of the gears is somewhat tiresome, but observing the lifts movement is well worth it. SUMMARY As said before, one of the most beautiful Technic sets ever made. Very nice work on the outriggers and lifts. Good: Excellent functions on the trailer. Great looking and big model, great details, smooth looks and notable effort to make this model as close as possible to the real truck. Lots of new parts in DBG. Nice B model. Good price. Bad: Some parts of the truck and the trailer are weak or fragile. Mixing Technic with Creator might not be to everyone's taste. Truck's bonnet too long, wheel arches too blocky. Definitely worth buying! SCORE So how do I grade this set? 8 DESIGN Beautifully designed, some fragile and inaccurate sections. 8 BUILDING EXPERIENCE Very interesting. 9 FEATURES Lots of functions, and they work smooth. 9 PLAYABILITY Lots of things to do with the model. Also a modder''s dream. Take out the cargo box and lifts and build something new on the trailer. 8 PARTS Enough to keep things interesting. 8 VALUE FOR MONEY Good value for the package. Final score - 8.3 Thank you for reading. I hope you enjoyed it.

That R530 is one of the nicest Lego trucks I have ever seen. I have seen curved panels on the side of the truck used like that, but not implemented as good as you did here. Well done, really. -
