Well, there are a lot of more expensive sets (e.g. Diagon Alley) that do have quite a number of figs. And let's face it: the Orthanc by itself is not really an interesting building: it is just a tall tower. I do hope it has a nice interior and some exclusive minifigures!

Review Review: 21017 Imperial Hotel
KristofBD replied to Masked Builder's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thanks for the review - looks great. I do agree that the colour scheme is not the most accurate (even a tad boring). That's a shame, but other than that it is an amazing model!- 32 replies

Well, Bilbo does not excite me that much - and the torso is nice, but not that special. I just hope there will be an extended DVD edition having the exclusive fig. If not, well, it's not an Elrond, so no problem.

Medusheld, the Golden Hall of King Theoden

Truly beautiful! Very good job. I especially like the colour scheme and the architecture. The interior also seems to be very well designed! -
Excellent work. It must have took you quite some time to do the calculations, but it is worth it. Thanks!

Well, to be fair the variation in Uruk Hai was also limited: most variation came from different degrees of armour (though we also had Lurtz and the Berserker). In essence we have three orcs: moria orc, mordor orc and Yezneg (impossible to mix though) and you can mix them with goblins if you want. While I would love some more variation, I appreciate the army building (you need lots of orcs to make it accurate). I would have loved the hairpiece though. I find the bald orc far too plain.

Very nice! The groundwork is the best - and I love the fact that it is not square. The swings are also very nice. Good job!

Veeery nice set. Like many others I am no train fan, but this set is just simply beautiful!

Completely agree with you on that. And from what we have seen from the German toy fair pictures, I actually think it does a good job at it as well. If it weren't for LOTR, I would probably buy these and tweak some stuff.

Let's not exaggerate: there are plenty of small bricks included in the set - and most importantly, the minifigs look quite good. Clearly this range is aimed at younger Castle fans, but for the AFOLs there's still LOTR.

1987 Castle Comic Book: The Robber Baron

Great stuff! Never knew they were around. -
Still sounds quite cheap (perhaps a bit too cheap to be true). I would imagine it being at least as expensive as the Haunted Mansion. Especially for that size...

Well the confidential mark does make it more credible. The Pirate ship also has a similar tag with the sizes in the preliminary picture so it seems to fit the style. We'll see. In any case: I'd rather have a Minas Tirith giant set. After all, the Orthanc tower is rather plain.

A TRU exclusive seems very likely as both waves so far (LOTR, Hobbit) have had one. I wouldn't expect a last alliance set: both exclusives were scenes taking place at the same time as the other sets. A Balrog set is possible, but I would go for something where TLG can add a lot of extras (weapons, utensils, etc) as they did in the other two exclusives. Perhaps an orc camp or Gondorian soldiers (though less likely). Regarding the D@C set, it seems likely that if such a set appears it would be at the end of the year (like most other D2C sets). Though you never know of course....

Thanks for the information, October. Were you able to take a closer look at the Council of Elrond and wizard battle sets? Thanks and happy new year to everyone!

Well, probably more LOTR sets to come, while these sets please the younger castle fans. I'm ok with that. I generally do not like the pics/sets, but will be interested in how the minifigs will turn out. I actually like the baddies' colour scheme. Could be nice.

The real price most people have to pay (because the polybag does not appear in their country) is however often far higher than the modest original price. I must say I find this a pretty weak set - especially when compared to the majestic Mirkwood elf polybag which contains so many rare parts. But if you don't already have a Gandalf (or three as in my case...), I guess it is a useful one.

LEGO® CUUSOO 空想 - Turn your model wishes into reality
KristofBD replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well apparantly, Back to the Future it is... Looks like a neat little set that fits with the LEGO Cuusoo idea. -
Veeery impressive set! The cavalery set is really an awesome army builder for just 15 euro (!!).
-
Toys r us germany has the sets and sells them. I don't know about the polybags and Austria. In general, polybags turn up in Austria quite frequently actually, but the Uruk Hai will probably already be gone if it ever were there. But who knows, may be you are lucky...

Nice! I like the entrance and the colour scheme most. Good work and good luck!
