42083 - Bugatti Chiron
aminnich replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
We talked about an automatic gearbox in a different topic, but I am not sure that it would be as complicated as you think it might be. Anyway, looking at the gear selector, how would it be used? To me it looks kinda like a worm gear -

finally had a minute to look at the newest leak... what is that new gear selector??? might be good for an automatic gearbox?!? -
So, I have a similar issue. I have been buying larger lots of technic parts of pieces to get a larger collection of my own. A number of purchases later, after it has all been separated and stored... I lost interest in building very quickly. Not too long ago I could build for hours on end, sun up to midnight sometimes just building whatever came to the mind, but now that my collection has been built up... the passion for building is not there anymore. I am not sure what the cause is, but I would love to be able to build like that again :)

So a good example would be 42009 and @Jeroen Ottens newest crane build? -

After seeing the second leaked images, I can confirm that I will not be buying this set. Looks like a creator set with all the system bricks used. Lots of panels and a number of flex axles. I hope you guys enjoy the set! -
Lets talk color vomit

going off what @Bublehead said, sorting; Having multiple colors of the same part is going to be interesting when it comes to sorting as well. I use to sort by color, silly me. Now I sort by the parts, so not I have bins that look like a rainbow sometimes and other bins that look like a LBG sea. That would be a bit extreme, don't you think? I am thinking that a good example of a good color combination set is 42009. The yellow/black/and greys everything flows very nicely. -
LEGO is a toy... sure, but to most of us here it has grown way bigger than a toy on the shelf. A lot of us have quite the collection of parts and pieces that get messed around with from time to time. I do not see an issue with that, but my bank account does haha. Anyway, you are right, we all have own likes and dislikes about the hobby. I am the no color vomit, monocolor, heck no to stickers, RC all the time, Team Sbrick, team let me see those gear, not panels... guy.

Lets talk color vomit
aminnich replied to aminnich's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
looking at the picture, the main 3 colors are dark green, white and black. The "extra" colors are yellow (cant get by this because of the cylinders, but still lots of other yellow), red, the second green, -

I love the contests as well, but I always find myself not being able to finish them on time. I will have to devote more time and effort into the next contest for sure! Looking forward to the theme this time around! -

I think that may be a big part of all this. LEGO is giving you crappy colors in hopes you will buy the "right" colors for the set. AKA more money in their pocket. I agree with this, saying that they are using different colors to make the building process easy I'd say is a bit of a stretch. If that is the case, shame on TLG. As a side note to all of this. This would not be the case if they did not get rid of the scaled pictures of the parts used every step of the instructions. Remember when it gave you a 1:1 ratio of the axle/beam used every step. That was nice as a kid, but now I am able to pick out the length by muscle memory haha. -

found it edit: I am not a fan, I will not be buying this one. Maybe 2 of the rough terrain crane now though!! :D -
Hey guys, We have seen now for the past couple years that color vomit has been becoming more and more popular. What do you think of it? Do you think there is a particular reason for it? (ease of building, cost, etc) Do you think that the color vomit is effecting Technic sales? Personally, I am not a fan. I liked when we had the all yellow phase a while ago. Sure a variety of color would be nice, but a huge selection of color for one set... no thanks.

I have my own opinions on this topic, but this is not the place to talk about it. If the conversation is to continue, I would recommend a separate topic.- 5,466 replies

Do you plan to build a truck/trailer setup for the boom or will be the type that is attached during transport?

42080 Forest Harvester
aminnich replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'll bring but up again only because its disgusting, the color vomit on this set is real ladies and gentlemen. This time it isn't only the inside of the set, by now we get to look at it, oh good! The set also does look kiddish to me. Idk if it is the color what but I feel like it isn't a beautiful set that you put up on the shelf like some other sets. All that in mind, I still may buy this set. It is finally something different!! As we know, the possibliities for modding a set like this can be done. And making it yellow and black to match the ponesse shouldn't be an issue.- 313 replies

I never really care much about the bodywork, but I really like the way it turned out on the superstructure. Layer or stacking the panels up like that is a neat idea.

Is it normal for a truck to have rear suspension but not front suspension? Or did I miss suspension components on the front axle?
