  1. Nerwen dismounted from her horse and stepped beside Guts, speaking quietly. If Grishnod is not here, who leads these orcs? How many kingdom troops attacked Imaestym? Should we let that many orcs across? Twice that many? All the orcs? And what of when they have sacked a village as repayment, will they turn around and go home? Or keep pillaging? If it is only a small force would they expect not to return, to be wiped out to the last man as you did with the invaders of Baltarok? Nerwen turned to Valentino. Will you, before these gathered armies, proclaim that your kingdom recognizes the sovereignty of the orcs over the land of Baltarok and their right to hold and govern that land? Will you make it a crime punishable by the crown to breach that sovereignty by force? Will you proclaim the freedom of the orcs of Baltarok, even though you may not believe sic proclaimation is necessary? Will you speak boldly to your people, explaining the necessity of such proclaimations? I will deal with the apostate paladin myself, with some help of course. Olmstyr, would such a proclaimation suffice for giving the orcs their freedom? This man is the leader of those with red dragons on their shield, but has influence over the other kingdoms as well. And if he is the leader, his people will follow him in what he says. Are words his enough, understanding he has the authority to bring his words into action? What more would you demand of the kingdoms?
  2. Nerwen turned on the orc and spoke brusqely Do your troops follow your orders? If so, who has the responsibility to order them well, you or themselves? Are you going to gently question each soldier to ask if they even knew this happened and only take those who did? As for you slavery the only way you can be free is to stand up. Do not be like your oppressors but be better than them. Say to your people, who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice: In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force. Turning to the younger elf she said. I agree with you, in that this Grishnod sounds a better person than those on this side, though I am not surprised Heweyrt closed the bridge, what with armies encamping at each end. He wants this sorted out. By us. Let us see if your Grishnod can continue in the same way and rise above the violence that swirls here. Nerwen wheeled her horse, facing Guts again. Stifling the urge to slap him upside the back of his thick bald skull she swallowed once to calm her words. What is there to stop the next attack? I am. I stand here on this bridge and deny passage to those that want to cross to harm others. The attack after that? If this foolishness is stopped perhaps there will not be one. Will the Orcs be free? Only when they stand up, and think of themselves as free. The chains they wear are not on their wrists and ankles but on their minds and their beliefs. I agree, now is the time to set things right. To begin a new era, but the way to do that is not by following the old hatreds, not by reliving the same old past. I tell you the thirst for vengeance is a slavery more deadly than any. It binds with chains stronger than iron and kills all who drink it. Letting the orcs past will not release them from slavery, it will entangle them tighter still. Yes the Kingdoms are scared, they are old and there are too many soldiers. But the way to reduce soldiers is not to kill them, that only makes more. The way to get rid of soldiers is to have them leave for having nothing to do, no one to fight. Nerwen stretched. I have said much. I will let others speak and then speak again later.
  3. Listening to the gnome's words, Nerwen inclines her head. Such a solution I would gladly accept. I believe it solves all the issues raised. The bridge remains standing, the innocent of Imaestym are avenged on their persecutor and the apostate paladin is removed from causing further harm.
  4. Nerwen's voice rang I do not deny their guilt. I deny that payment in kind is the right solution. Or if there must be death, let it fall on the one who ordered the atrocity, not on the innocent who had no part in it. Otherwise you invalidate your claim that the innocent of Imaestym deserve recognition and make them merely another footnote in a long bloody history. Drawing breath she continued As for the bridge, yes it was used for evil. That does not make the thing itself evil. Fire can be used to cook meat or burn villagers, Horses can be used to pull carts of food or carry Knights who pillage, Gold can be bring relief to the orphaned or pay soldiers who kill. Each of these things have many uses, it is those who use them, not the thing that is to be judged. I say the bridge stands. But you would use the bridge for the same evil you accuse the Kingdoms of? How are you any better. Let the dead of Imaestym claim some other price, not one that turns their innocence to guilt.
  5. Pass? where to? There is nothing on that side except the sovereign land of the High Kingdoms. Haldor would have us stand with the side being invaded, but you are proposing that the Kingdoms suffer such a fate.
  6. Nerwen, astride the horse and regaled as a paladin, spoke clearly for all the heroes to hear. Our party is charged to protect the bridge and to keep it standing. The bridge is the work of King Valentino, who had been a prisoner of some of the orcs before being exchanged through the work of those accompanying the circus. The Kingdom forces are currently being led by his son, David, under the influence of an apostate paladin who has been speaking words of fear to him. Words such as there is a large orc force moving toward the kingdom, planning to invade, you must stop them and at a last resort, cast down the bridge to prevent them crossing. We will stand against the Paladin and against the casting down of the bridge. Haldor. You cannot say join our side without explaining who your side is. You mention Kingdom forces, was it a King in black armour and a General with a red lizard shield? Dyric, what is your fear? Mistress Cinna, perhaps you might speak up and detail your adventures, shine light into this murky situation. Speaking in a quieter voice to Guts, though still loud enough to be heard by those listening she replied, Such a party went without our knowledge. If we had known before it crossed, we would have stood in it's path. I do not dispute the Kingdoms' guilt in this, it sounds like a thing Raguel would order. The bridge is not intended as a threat, but as a path of trade between Baltarok and the Kingdoms. I do not defend the High Kingdoms, as I said, the advisor to the prince is false and steeped in fear. And I will stand against any Kingdoms forces crossing under arms in order to violate sovereign territory of Baltarok. But I would expect the orcs not to cross under arms either, lest they prove true the lies of the fallen paladin.
  7. Nerwen bows to King Valentino My apologies, your majesty. Of course you will accompany us. Since you have just returned from imprisonment, is there anything you need for equipment? What is your area of expertise and skill? Nerwen spends a moment praying over the seal, observing carefully if that would make a difference, prepared to spend longer if necessary.
  8. Nerwen bows. Your Majesty. I am glad that you are returned safely. If I might ask, since you yourself will not be joining us, is there something you have that is unmistakably yours that we might carry as proof that you are alive, well and that we act in your name? I fear Prince David will listen to little else, especially with the apostate paladin pouring his words in your son's ear. Speaking to Hoke and the others, Perhaps Hoke or myself should take the horse, being up the front of the battle? Nerwen again looks at the seal looking if the ether use had any efffect.
  9. Quests are like cars going on a trip. They hold a certain number of people, and off they go to different places. The unlimited quest is a bus route. When it comes by, it takes some people, when they get off, it is ready to take a new group of people to the same place.
  10. Welcome. Have a look at the first page of this topic, it has all the rules plus the information for starting characters. (Particularly starting health, power and items. Then there may be a little wait for a quest to come up. Don't sweat the wait, there's a dozen or so guys who run quests and when there are a few new people, an easy quest will run. Otherwise, if you're not sure if a quest would be right, drop the person running it a private message and ask politely if the quest would work for a new character. Meantime enjoy the free drinks in the hall and read up on some past quests to get a feel for the game.
  11. Nice loco. Great work, especially the stickering, the colour matching is virtually seamless.
  12. Nerwen opens her satchel. She draws out and takes the Double Rainbow (lucky, encouraged, poisoned, confused), a remedy, an ambrosia and smelling salts. Her eyes shine with the effects of multiple drugs. He he he! 'm a high elf! Geddit? High? He he he! Ahem. She also tries infusing the seal of the warrior priestess with ether in an attempt to make it more reliable for the upcoming battle.
  13. Did I not heal Benji? Perhaps we ought spread the provisions we have around so that if any one of us falls, there will always be another to raise them up. How many pheonix essences and incenses do we each have? I have only one essence and no incenses. Nerwen turns the seal over and over in her hands, pondering her path pensively.
  14. He was blind and mute, like a traitor executed for treason. Even if Ennoc may not judge all, surely he has the right to judge those who call themselves his. But Raguel is the one who gave them orders. He has wandered from the light into the night. And the terrors there shall take him.
  15. Nerwen heals herself, Hoke, Gocklo and Benji. A shame about the horses.
  16. Since when has that stopped someone wielding a Big Figing Sword?
  17. Let us finish this. If Bolivar not blind Nerwen blind Bolivar otherwise Nerwen attacks Bolivar, front row, magical staff
  18. As you say. if Bolivar is not sealed Nerwen seals Bolivar otherwise Nerwen blinds Bolivar
  19. Yes, did mean incense. We'll just edit so I said that originally. Sir Ablesword. Perhaps you ought keep your bomb. Their armour will withstand any elemental blast and there is no need to inflict the raft of effects that the pumpkin will do. Just focus on hitting them until the give up.
  20. Nerwen reaches into her satchel and pulls out her pheonix incense. A decent hit. But not enough. Let the Light restore those with true hearts. Did you roll for my shield for damage avoidance? How have I not rolled a guardian angel all battle? Are your dice broken?
  21. But you've got a 3XP medal, so you haven't missed out overall.
  22. Err. MDM changed the order after last round. Nerwen should have been top of the list and taken the hit from Bolivar. So be it. Take a son each, Tesni, Hoke. This one is mine. Nerwen strikes at Bolivar.
  23. Tesni, hit the one on the end. (son of light E) That leaves the other Son for reptile boy to eat up.
  24. Posted at same time, didn't see your post. And hadn't clicked that Jess was KO'd (it's not noted in the battle results, just the description and stats. Still think we'll be ok, and it's unlikely the battle will end this round and we can revive Jess the next so she doesn't miss XP (is Cisco still on track for that Zeph?)
