Back of the napkin maths puts worst case scenario (using a XXX bomb and two XX bombs for 70 party damage) at about 1 in 300. Even then, Alexis and XX would survive. And the battle wouldn't be over since the direwolves would re spawn from AoE attack.
-
See XX's items. Cannoneer's Sashes (The damage output of bombs consumed are added to the WP of the Cannoneer's weapon before damage calculation)
-
They'll only resell 20g each. Not worth farming...
-
As Nstickney pointed out, everyone can 1hitKO the direwolves even without the 2x for fire vs beasts. But XX should use that nifty dagger on Evel.
-
Using a scroll does not roll a battle result. No chance of shield or special damage. Also, does not count a targetting for free hit purposes. But that's not an issue since there will not be any free hits here. She could even go first. As I suggested sealed/blinded is a better choice. My weapon (if hits) inflicts fragile. Any wolves that spawn will not cause free hits this round. And they'll just be low level targets for round 2. Nerwen watches XX prepare Keep those special bombs of yours in your pocket. I do not want to be spending the battle patching up heroes you have hurt.
-
Beasts are best fought with fire, and fragileizing that werewolf would be a good idea. Purpearl, we have plenty of strikers, perhaps you might try sealing or blinding a target. Also, if Alexis is first in the order and a wolf is untargetted, it will fall to her counterstrike. > Nerwen - mourning star vs. Evel. Does Matthias' canon count as AoE? In Evel's special, do you mean ecliptic (path of sun across sky) or eliptic (having the shape of an eclipse)? No stress either way, it's just the ex-astronomer pedant in me wants to know!

They found me as I was walking to meet Everyman. I had heard tales of Russel in the hall, so it was not a complete surprise.
-
Thank you Russel. I believe I will pass this time. I do not want to mess with the QMmy focus so early in the day. But you might buy Lady Berthadhiell a mulled wine if you are keen to impress. Speaking to said Lady, Nerwen replied, No need to lend me the mace, this sword is nearly as powerful but lets me do damage more often. How is XX's name said ( as opposed to simply written. Is it EcksEcks? Or DoubleEcks? Or something else?
-
Nerwen notes that Alexis is not fully healed and so, heals Alexis. She also heals Russel and then heals Purpearl. She hands Purpearl her magical staff. Snce you can not use that mace and this staff is heavier than the one you currently wield. Russel. I note that you are trying to juggle three artifacts when you can only handle two. Do you require help? XX, as someone with multiple class skills, I assume you announce each round of battle what you are acting as? Alexis has a grand potion then later, 7 grand potions. Combine them? Sorry, couldn't figure how to ask that in character. For XX as an alchemist, does he have an equal chance at the six possible outcomes? ie. just a straight D6? Affected by lucky/jinx as one would expect?

Nerwen nods in satisfaction as Matthias takes a range of sensible precautions to secure the inn. She moves to stand by the door. Her armour and shield somewhat disguising her slim figure, she projects an air of defensiveness, aimed at discouraging other people from randomly wandering in and further complicating things.
-
Nerwen hands Purpearl her Opal, Diamond, Garnet, Sapphire, Emerald and Aquamarine and Scrolls of Sleep, Sealing, Blindness, Weakening, Fragile and Confusion I believe my role will be as a strong shield at the front and I will not have space to use scrolls. The gems will be useful also.
-
As this was seemingly a requirement, Nerwen grudgingly exchanged the seal for the medalion.
-
Answering Matthias' question, Nerwen shrugs. It all depends, is he a follower or a servant, a disciple or an avatar? What deal was made in exchange for power and what was promised in return. As it is, his situation sounds serious but precarious. Perhaps his fate truly does hang in the balance and we may do good here. What of yourself Master Nogoth, which gods have you bowed before? Which do you honour?
-
You have not met me, but I am familiar with your work. Nerwen says coldly to the smirking bomber. Speaking to their employer, she says in a warmer tone, You may not find me a ferocious, but you will still need to be forthright and honest with us. What are the penalties for not showing at the duel?
-
It's the same weapon Nerwen (and Guts and Eric) took from Reno? I thought it was just a similar one based on it. What goes around comes around...
-
Nerwen looks over her party. Alexis, I believe you can equip four artifacts. If you have nothing you wish to wear, feel free to borrow my white cloak for a little extra health. You might also lend Matthias your quiver if you are not using it, his hat is only useful at the start of battle and exchanging a item that hastens is effectively a free action.
-
Stars shine I our meeting Master Everyman. Alexis, it is good to see you. I see you have been working hard at your profession. Matthias, Lady Berthadhiell, a pleasure to be in the same party more than just temporarily. This is Russel Ruffers, the swashbuckling crab, and his faithful compainion Sir Pigley. I have a sylvania's cowl so can understand what they are saying. But they can understand you, so if you wish to speak to them or ask questions, go ahead. Treat them like any member of the party.

Nerwen buys two Ambrosia spending all of her 130g

Nerwen raises a hand to Hoke. His interruption, though containing many things she might have said, did not say them how she would have and merely riled Guts more. Then she heard the posting of the group for the latest quest and saw Alexis' look and nod. She sighed. And you are right. Without seeing King Speros' loss of an heir, without seeing Carn's destruction, without seeing David's anger over the treatment of his mentor, without seeing Valentino sidelined by imprisonment, it may well seem that the Kingdoms got off scot-free, and the Orcs were punished. Though if I remember at the end it was the orcs dictating terms to the Kingdoms and the Kingdoms paying, not the other way around. The only thing left is that some said they would support the Orcs and yet, did not. Standing against them, preventing them crossing. You seem to view that as a personal betrayal. It is not. Though no doubt you can see it no other way. We may meet again, when anger has cooled and we have both had time to reflect. Until then, fare-well Master Holla. With that, Nerwen went to leave the hall. As she did so, she handed Thormanil her bright polish and accepted 230 gold in exchange. she then caught up with Hoke as he left, handing him 220 gold and taking the Helm of the Lord of Light she also hands him her Robes of the disciple of Ennoc with a note. Finally she leaves for the marketplace Fear not Zepher! I'm coming. Just some stuff to organise first.
-
Nerwen does not flinch at Benji's bellowed outburst or even turn her head. She replies calmly to Guts. The Kingdoms I traveled in feared orcs and considered them dangerous. Wanting them wiped out? Who can say? I know neither King Speros or Valentino thought that way, though Frederick, who died at Imaestym did and David, after seeing Raguel's death may now think so.
-
Thanks for the info on juries. Interesting stuff. Nerwen's laugh was short and sharp. Hardly. Baltarok is merely the presenting issue. Either of us staying would solve nothing. No. The disagreement is about what it truly means to be a hero. Guts needs me, though he will not admit it, to remind him that using evil methods for good ends still is evil. And he would have me remember that not fighting evil every way possible is, perhaps, to condone it. Can you give an answer? Sit in the high seat of judgment? Or should you sit and be silent? Executing genocide? Do yo mean Imaestym? I condemned a man innocent of their blood to death to satisfy your desire. Not for justice, but for revenge. Guilty he may have been in other ways, but he did not send those troops. Will you say that price was not enough? If not, what? Should the Kingdoms have offered a hundred innocent men? A thousand? Should they have had to offer up their children and wives? Perhaps the kingdoms should have been wiped out, the whole genos killed. Truly, which of us was promoting genocide?
-
So. You are not like other men. And you have no further wish to know what I am like. Who I am at my core. Because who I am scare you, reminds you of death. No, you are not like other men at all. Nerwen's voice is tight as she turns to the undead joining the conversation. The same topic? For those that have lost track, what is this one topic we have been arguing over? And if it is all one topic, is it not important enough to argue over? And how would standing before a King, in his court solve anything? Which King? Valentino? Speros? Or perhaps one of the Orc leaders? How would any of them speak to what we are discussing now?
-
Nerwen's voice remained quiet, but there was more animation in her manner as she replied. I am not sure I follow you. Are you saying that each individual is unique and different. Therefore no generalizations can be made about an individual, each must be met in their own terms. And it is this uniqueness, as a generalization that can be made about any individual that leads to humans' ubiquity. Or are you claiming that humans, as a race, are unique and different from every other race. And generalizations and comparisons can be made between, say, elves and dwarves, or Kobold and Fenrario, or whatever, yet comparison with humans is not possible, therefore I as a non-human can never hope to understand any human, whilst any human is free to comprend the entirety of what it means to be Quessir?
-
Nerwen bowed her head at Guts' tone, and spoke quietly. There is much I, a mere elf, do not understand about humans. It is not that humans can not understand, but that so few choose to try. And sadder still, that fewer elves are open about our experience of the world. An experience which is neither better, nor worse, for what could be a basis of comparison?, but different. And to assume that there is no difference, regardless of who does so, leads to confusion and pain.
-
Nerwen looks up as Guts joins the conversation. She draws breath to speak, but the many things she wants to say crowd in and she is speechless. A rare event. Finally she says, Perhaps that is the cause of Jess' sleeping sickness. She was sleepwalking the last battle. She could feel him pulling away. Elves do not experience deep intimacy as humans merely do, it is much more... intense, vital, soul-entangling.
