Mafia School: The Witchbreed Day III
Chromeknight replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Man! Talk about conversation killer! It must be tiredness from everyone staying up last night while four murders happened. Anyway. Questions to ask from looking at voting patterns. I'm going to be a little blunt. If you don't like that, tell me via PM. But I want to stimulate conversation. Talk catches scum! Christos- Not going to ask myself any questions, that'd just be circular. But feel free to PM or ask me here! Dragus- Heloo? You out there? Well done for leading a vote on Franklin. Why did you change it? I assume you think Yulie is more scummy that Franklin? Do you still think that? Will you try and sway others? M. Hale- Another quiet one. I can't even think of a question to ask... And no, that's not a good thing. Pirelly- Welcome to the game, it's nice to hear you speak up! You voting record is as plain as Hale's... What have you been up to? Carrots- Voting so far has been a little predicable. Do you have anything original to contribute yourself? Skip Pudding- Day two vote for Zam. With some good analysis of why also. Do you still think so? Will you try and sway others? Voltana- Your voting is undistingushed. But there is much you can clear up regarding Biskie's failed vote for you. Was it a real vote and he's just a doofus, or was it a fake vote so you'd have an alibi and then he conveniently goes down. He would have started the day with penalty votes, was the plan to throw him under a bus today? Wully- You don't need to vote, you can just act at night. Do you fear reprisal from the witchbreed for pounding on Biskie? Yulie- Dear crazy Yulie. Well done again on slipping the old lace to the witchbreed. Yesterday you had a long list of mysterious people. Did last night help you any? Why Carrots and Zam? Finally. Zam- You changed to Gilly because I asked you too, but you dragged your feet over it. Other than that, you bandwagoned on Darth and Wully. And you most recent cryptic comment has people confused. Speak up, speak clearly! I know there's two scum in the list of people I've just addressed, so odds are, I've poked at least one hornet's nest. All I can say is, bring it on. I am the day three Darth! Talk people, Talk! If you don't answer my questions, expect votes going your way! -

Cecily! No.... But the plan to keep Wully around bares fruit. Well done to our friendly neighbourhood serial killer If there were four, there are two left. Excellent! -

Sorry guys. I may have made a mistake. Possible the tavern had a game of chance or a bar-fight to earn some money before coming to the shop. Anyway since we're here. Nerwen addresses the cheerful Laxadaisi Greetings we came with Vres from Eubric, bringing Jui some medicine. What can you tell us about the sickness around town? And have there been any other strangers or strange goings on around town? -

Listening to the party discuss it, there seems more votes for the magic shop Magic shop first, I think. Tavern after that. Nerwen leads the group over to the garishly pink shop. OOC. sorry I missed bolding the potion-giving. :) Mafia can be distracting, as you know! -

I the locals are as drained and hopless as Vres, it may be a waste of time. Though it might be good to drop into the magic shop, see if there is anything that might help us on the quest. Then yes, to the mine. What do people think of that as a plan? -

If there is a viable plan to use Wully for the good of the town, this seems like a reasonable alternative. With the clock ticking down. Vote: Gilly Wooks (Gingerwookie) -

One other thing to note. Wully will be living on an knife edge. Since he won't have the doctor's protection, the scum could kill him if they felt threatened. Wully will have to play very well to make it to the end alive anyway. Since he'll be so constrained, I think it's an acceptable risk to trust him. At the very least having him directed against quiet players loses the town little in the short term, as those players have not contributed to hunting witchbreed. -

Given our poor serial killer was clearly up last night, perhaps he's having a sleep in. There's still quite a bit of 'daylight' left. but sooner than later is better. There are plenty of people that haven't visited the throne room since voting opened. -

Sarick is right, it would not be good to split up. Since we have the potion for Jui, let's go give it to her. -

I know I started it. And this may make me appear flipfloppy and scummy... we all make mistakes. forgive me. But Dragus is right. WullyTintin is now at 6 votes and if he gets many more he'll be rolled without a chance to defend himself. I'd really like to hear his response to the flow of voting, but if it's clear he can't be saved, why would he make a plea? So in the interests of giving WullyTintin time to speak, I'm going to unvote: WullyTintin (Wuntin) with the understanding I may put my vote back there if his defense is inadequate. More talk helps town. Bandwagons help scum. Let's talk people! -

Lots of reading to catch up on. Big news and lots of discussion. Cecile has said more or less what I was going to say. If Wully the serial killer wants to avoid being lynched he's got to provide two things. First, a valid alternative lynch that will catch a scum, and second, a reasonable night kill, that again will catch a scum. His bind is that if he provides both of those, he's a good chance of being the scum's target. Claiming serial killer doesn't seem to improve his chances. And besides, lynching Wully would be the way to verify Voltana's source. I can't see any logical or reasonable move other than to vote: Wully Tintin (wuntin) as always I'm open to reasoned arguments. -

That's great news. Well, except for the scum. Sounds like a solid lead. Is there a connection between Flanagan and Wully then, that explains why the jester was vapourised? What does his wife have to say about this fingerpointing? -

Nerwen collects the money from the heroes who volunteered it and hand it over. I'll repay it from loot we'll collect. She says to Jurn Vres hasn't been able to tell us much about the sickness. And Guts has a good question, what's in the potion, what's it do? -

You weren't the only one to vote for her. I too share the blame. Especially as it seems my words toward the end led to another slide of votes her way. The irony of saying darth was playing dumb, when it was a dumb move to lynch her. Flanagan, Cuzlo. Rest in peace guys. Bed, then some rereading of day one... -

Greeting Jurn, We are helping Vres to uncover the cause of the sickness that afflicts his wife and village. Do you have any thoughts on it? Also, does Vres owe you anything for the medicine? Turning to the party she says quietly. If we are able to cover the cost of the medicine that would be good. It will help build trust. Seeing Sorrow hang back, Nerwen gestures to include her in the conversation. This is Sorrow, she is a mystic working for the Ziegfrieds, we are also helping her locate a gemstone for her masters. -
edited post to remove my addition to argument. ceding floor to wise Cornelius.

I just replied to last post in thread (at the time) in order to reference conversation as a whole rather than scrolling back and quoting specific posts. I'm sorry you were confused.

My question is, how would you picture them in LEGO? Look at the list B&P just posted. Which items stand out? The ones with pictures. Which quests consistently do that? The ones Sandy runs. How do you quest like Sandy? (or to rephrase the question, propose quests Sandy will be keen to see?) Pictures for items.

Yes. People may try and game the system. That will happen whatever system is chosen. If people do, they will look a little ridiculous and ought be fair game for comments from other characters. Yes. There is stuff like the amulet that has a picture out of scale and can't actually be equipped on a minifig. My feeling is those will be uncommon and not the case with most things. Yes. There will be stuff that doesn't fit on particular characters, like Fishmen or highway Orges. I reckon that's a fair consequence of choosing to play such a characterful character and clever QMs will still be able to craft artifacts that fit onto those models. Or the artifact might not fit with your 'picture' of how you want your character to look. That generates a meaningful RPG choice. Looks or stats. However in counter point to the above concessions. The system I suggested is. Simple: no item slots, no limits other than common sense, no trying stuff more information into signatures than is already there. Stimulating: Anyone QM can come up with a shiny bit of kit with gee-whiz stats. What I have enjoyed so far (and given comments I've seen, others too) are the LEGO based pictures that go with the quests. Sure, this suggestion entails a little more work for QM masters, but I think it adds to the overall building (I use the word deliberately) of a shared world. The system is also in keeping with Sandy's work so far. He didn't need to put in pictures for potions and remedies and so on, but he did. I think that everything wherever possible should be pictured. Pictured in LEGO. After all LEGO is what brought us here right?

Since a minifig can wear a quiver and a robe at the same time (or armour and a robe) going by the rule I proposed, a character could equip both. I'm not dividing artifacts into 'types' and limiting to one of each, I'm suggesting a what-you-see-is-what-you-get common sense system.
-
Given that heroica:rpg is ostensibly a LEGO roleplaying game, perhaps we might tie artifacts back to actual lego elements. Then the stackability of artifacts is given by the ability to physically model them sensibly. eg. I could wear a quiver or armour, but not both at the same time. I couldn't wear a helmet and the dread hat at the same time. I'm not suggesting that artifact owners have to go out and actually purchase the item-element, put it on their sig-fig and rephotograph. Just that the standard for artifact stacking will be minifg element based. e.g. Chunk of lucky table 1x6 tan tile, wood grain Pongcanis tongue Popiscle though perhaps in trans-dark pink...

Speaking rapidly in fluent orcish Nerwen conveys the essential details of their quest so far. Out of the corner of her eye, she also watches to see Sorrow's reaction to her choice of language, gauging how well she speaks the language of the greenskins. That done, she steps forward to ask Vres Which part of town is the medicine man's shop?
