  1. (wiki-fu....) Apologies, yes. It is the North Pole they go searching for. But since we're talking poles, as well as linear polarization there's circular polarization which is either left or right handed. Anyways, Perhaps Owl is the Mage. He can spell Tuesday after all.
  2. If you read your A.A. Milne I think Christopher Robin beat you there. Pooh is a Knight. (again see books) but I wonder what Piglet is. A mage? Kanga is the cleric, she's the one that bandages everyone up. And Tigger is the Rogue...
  3. Remaining ingredients: Ennonian Rose Petals - 2 left Powdered Super Scarab Shell - 2 left Mopagian Pale Root - 2 left Waldruk Pine Nettles - 2 left Crushed Chimera Hoof - 2 left Ground Golem's Kidney - 2 left What combination will the Party try next? I don't want to be a butinski, but I think the count is wrong, there should be 3 Golem kidneys left, and only 1 Chimera Hoof... Perhaps the shopkeeper is as old as Skrall?
  4. A bit of maths on the back of a napkin shows there are only 20 combinations (I've assumed that order is unimportant and repetitions are not allowed) Sounds like a puzzle that's challenging without being overwhelming. In response to soccerkid Good luck guys!
  5. There have been some good ideas in the thread, but I'm surprised no one has talked about adding new things into the existing game. New monsters. What about scorpions and mummies from Rameses Pyramid the skeletons from Ninjago or for the adventurous, the minotaur from Minotaurus or the dragon from Lava Dragon New Heroes Ninjas anyone? Perhaps some gladiators from Minotaurus Potions and items they've used red, yellow, blue and purple that leaves orange and green (use the ones in Pyramid!) Gold Telescopes from Rameses return Crystal balls from Harry Potter Hogwarts All the gems from Pirate Code. Surely there are more ideas out there!
  6. http://flic.kr/p/9L2Pbw I had the chance to see a pre release version of the Heroica games. Of course, by fair play I haven't posted any pics that weren't otherwise available or posted rules. Since the sets are now released, I can share the info I have. Each microfig hero has a special skill. Barbarian Melee: Defeat ALL adjacent monsters and move 1 space Wizard Ranged: Defeat a monster up to 4 spaces away, even around corners Druid Ranged: Restore full health Knight Ranged: Move up to 2 spaces and defeat an adjacent monster By extrapolation Thief Melee: Defeat the monster and take 2 gold from store Ranger Range: Defeat a monster up to 6 spaces away in a straight line. There are six weapons, corresponding to each of the hero characters. Any hero can use any weapon, but a hero's skill is better than the corresponding weapon skill. Weapons. Axe Melee: Defeat ALL adjacent enemies Wand Ranged: Defeat a monster up to 3 spaces away, even around corners Staff Ranged: Restore up to 2 health Bow Ranged: Defeat a monster up to 5 spaces away in a straight line Dagger Melee: Defeat the monster and take 1 gold from the store. Sword Ranged: Move 1 space and defeat an adjacent monster You can buy weapons from the store (3 gold) and sell them back (2 gold) Of course, these are just the printed rules. People will make up their own rules I'm sure.
  7. Not sure this is the right forum for this but, I'll get told quickly if it's not so... I've been around EB for a little while, and I know some of the other posters are Australians. Is there a way to find Australians (or any particular nationality) as a group rather than hunting through member information one by one. I understand if there isn't, you don't want to give power to spammers, but I'm keen to build the Australian AFOL scene, fractured as it is by distance and shipping costs. Any brilliant suggestions or am I at an impasse trying to use EB for this?
  8. The die for each of the games is the same. The game mechanic only uses one die for each player's turn. If you've got multiple games connected you'll nave extra dice, or each player cam have their own die.
  9. I've spoken to the local LEGO office. The gameplay is still confidential. It's much easier for them to hang on to that sort of info than the pictures, which are used to show to buyers. Word is though, it is very fun to play, and really quite simple. Helmet? here you go! 10. Not sure which locomotive LT has in mind. There is a 422 class, but no locomotives numbered 422 that I could find. However the build does look like an AN class. Specifically AN5http://trains.chookman.id.au/pn/an5f.jpg Is that the one?
  11. The 'letters' NMRF etc, are actually runes. an old way of writing (goes with the fantasy theme) see Wikipedia: Runes for more info.
  12. Small easter egg for those paying attention Heroica Dice Side The runes around the outside spell HEROICA (repeated three times)
  13. Dear LEGO Company, Thanks for charging Canadians Australians $40 $80 extra (66% more) for the 10219 Maersk Train despite the fact the Australian dollar is averaging an historical all time high against the US$. We understand about shipping and freight costs and all that guff, but come on, we live in a GLOBAL market now. Sincerely, AFOLs of Canada Australia
  14. Yes. But instructions on using are not included with the set. If you next question is how are they used then there are several solutions. The most difficult thing is to find room for the battery box, it's too small for the coal tender. You can make the tender bigger or put it somewhere else.
  15. I think it's the helmet from Fortaan that you spotted.Translated and copied from the polish toy website that has some info already LEGO Heroica DRAIDA COVE (3857) The Goblin army has taken control of Draida Cove, cutting off the region from vital supplies. Face the goblins. Can you beat them? You can play as Barbarian or Wizard! LEGO Heroica WALDRUK FOREST (3858) The Dark Druid hides in the Forest of Waldurk near the fountain of healing. Use all your strength and skill to break through hordes of lurking monsters . LEGO Heroica NATHUZ CAVES (3859) In the depths of the caves of Nathuz the golem lord has discovered an ancient artifact, through which he can create an army of monsters. Get to the cave and recover the Scepter of Summoning. LEGO Heroica CASTLE FORTAAN (3860) Fortaan has fallen prey to a monstrous army of the Goblin King. Make your way through hordes of goblins and defeat the king! Can you find his secret battle plans and return with the artifact - The Helmet of Protection?
  16. The spieltest site had a video with commentary in german. Perhaps there some gameplay info buried in there? Forum points for actual information!
  17. Unconfirmed report. Set now at Copenhagen Lego store. Can anyone local check it out?
  18. I understand where you're coming from, but I think you over represent the size of the problem and (like the adults you speak to) want to play with trains 'properly'. Watching nephews of mine, with assorted Chuggington, Thomas, Brio and other trains they couldn't care less about the tracks, even when included. For them a train is just a differently shaped car and can go anywhere. Just like LEGO doesn't include a road baseplate in every set that is a car or truck, they rightly figure that that's not how kids play with these, especially the licensed trains that are more about playing an telling stories than racing around slot-car style. If you're still dubious, go back and watch the intro sequence to Toy Story3, where the western train comes from. Sure the train is there, but... where's the track?I bet you didn't even notice its not there. Also, look at the designs and instructions for 4841 and 7597, neither includes places for battery boxes or receivers or wires, although a motor clips on easy enough to the hogwarts engine base, the same is not true with the Toy Story train. And you'd be surprised how many people only follow the instructions (my sister in law calls them rules!) and couldn't modify the train without detailed instructions. LEGO doesn't expect kids to want motors or track for these sets. Hence not marking the boxes as if something is missing, which isn't needed anyway. That said, I'm with you, LEGO could benefit from making accessories like motors and track easier to purchase, (<grumble/>especially in countries other than US/EU<grumble/>). I suspect this thread is merging with the thread about how LEGO packages tracks, which has been an issue since 9v. Surprisingly I never had in issue with 12v track availability.
  19. A full circle of track sits on 9 baseplates (3x3 square), with a four stud border between track and edge of plate. A baseplate is approx 25 cm or about 10 inches on a side. You can lay a simple circle of track in an area about 70 cm or 28 inches in diameter. Best way to figure it out? Get some track out and lay down some rails! HTH!
  20. 7 columns, 8 bricks a row, 80+ rows approx four and a half thousand 2x4s just sitting around spare. And I'll bet he still has some left over after that.
  21. As a Sydney resident, I can see the amount of detail you've packed into the models. The only small niggle I have is that the matrix used very old single deck rolling stock that was repainted to look more like American (particularly NYC) stock The pic at Wikipedia - 1960 Single Deck Cars should give you an idea. Not that I want to take anything away from a spectacular build! Actually graffiti is not all that much of a problem on the outside of cars, with security around stabling areas it's difficult to get in to spray. Inside cars is different, lots of fat texta bombing and sign defacement.
  22. My class 8 British Shunter. The wheels can be swapped for a motor. I'm still trying to work out fitting in a pf battery box and receiver. For coupling, you'll need an older magnet and holder , not one of the new one piece thingys. I've tried to capture the greebly detail on the sides. Ideally it'd have wasp striping on the back, but I think it looks ok as is. On with the three pictures! Front quarter view Rear above view Overhead front view and lxf file in gallery when moderated
  23. Don't just say it worked, take pictures and show them! especially of any modifications that improve things, That way everyone can share the work you've done. What size set up are you working on, what's your rolling stock like? It's great we were able to help, but say it with pictures, they say a 1000 words!
  24. It may be easier to work in "baseplates" as your measurement. your tables are very close to 3 baseplates by 6 (which would be 76.8 cm x 153.2 cm) If you have an extra 3.2cm of depth (a four stud brick!) and an extra 8.2cm length (10 studs!) you can fit 72 baseplates of track and scenery on your tables. The next question is how much track and trains do you want and how much buildings and roads?
  25. This is still a 'large' solution, as it requires a 4x6 stud space off the end of the switch arm but http://www.flickr.com/photos/whoward69/373...57621512518259/ does have the advantage that it uses current parts, esp the new pf M motor. This is probably as elegant a lego solution as you'll find, smaller solutions will require modification of the points or use of non lego elements. Hope this helps.
