1. still waiting to see Barbarian/Rogue > (power-mugger) Knight/Cleric > (knight templar) Mage/Ranger > (magic arrows) Rogue/Knight > (masterless ronin) Cleric/Mage > (extra ether!) Ranger/Barbarian > (furious tripleshots)
2. I would be keen to see quests aimed at new people, to encourage them into the game. A quick training quest would be useful, people wouldn't feel like they join then wait ages for a quest slot. But I wonder if it just defers the problem. If the quest levels characters but is light on other rewards it might lead to a group of (relativly) under equipped warriors. Which is just the same problem you're trying to address in a different area. Look at the first 3 quests, not only did players gain 5 levels (6 for the warehouse!) but each gained between 200 and 350 gold worth of drops and quest rewards. That kind of gold buys some shiny new equipment. I expect that when quests 4 and 7 finish, the heroes there will be even better rewarded. Perhaps all you're suggesting is a quest that doesn't contribute (much) to the world-building mythos arc going on in other quests. If that's so, bring it on, there's nothing wrong with beginner heroes doing some grunt work.
3. I'd like to apologise if I came across as overly harsh, that wasn't my intent. It just felt like you were tempting fate...
4. As suggested before. Your options are, PM the quest master or post in character. e.g. "Alf looks around wondering where in the academy they are" "Alf checks his map and looks about." Or you could not worry about the map at all, since if it's important a QM will usually tell you, or drop a hint that you should ask.
5. Dude. Are you trying to prompt someone to drop a basilisk on your head?
6. Nerwen stiffened as the inebriated rogue staggered over. Clearly he was seeing double. His words were slurred and confused. Lle naa haran e' nausalle she muttered to herself as he rolled away. I see. Does the crest on your armour and shield belong to this elf or is based on your clan totem? As Guts moved away, Nerwen leaned a little closer to Knifk and said gnarSk po' TenQ (Pig sleeper now -or- Perhaps he will fall asleep in the pigsty...) Perhaps you should try rousing Grog, you might train together out in the training yard.
7. I think you've misunderstood the point of my post. The customiser was suggesting there were many more female elf characters than male characters. I was replying it only seems that way because there are, for humans at least, many more male human characters, so the females and elves stand out. I agree, there will be multiples of gender/race/class combinations (look how many male human rogues there are!) It's to be expected. But as you've brought it up, there have been quite a few elf NPCs in quest #10, and the balance is firmly towards males. Again, not that I really care either way. But I did choose my character to stand out some. I mean, who wants to be, say, another forestman-ranger? How would you differentiate your character from the others?
8. I count 4 Alexandre le Chevalier (played by Capt.JohnPaul) Amorith Marvelo (played by legobodgers) Arasmyth RuGard (played by Kadabra) Rufindel Galadhras (played by Rufus) Though I think he's not playing anymore. Equally, I only count 4 female elves? Alexis Fenral (played by Masked Builder) Erdathcath Madilinas (played by The_Customizer) Jess Islanti (played by cralegoboy) Nerwen Calmcacil (played by Chromeknight) But there are a lot of human males, perhaps that balances it out.And explains two half-elven males Benji Carvenhall (played by Flare) Dak Nikolus (played by darthnihilius)
9. Maybe Jebediahs' character should curse you. Then you don't have to rewrite sentences, you can just describe Alf's actions. And when you're healed after the quest you can be better at speaking and not have to rewrite sentences. Plus Jebediahs get to roleplay the "I hurt him and it felt good" angst...
10. Nerwen was surprised. Despite his entrance, Knifk seemed quite human, and spoke common unusually well. Attacks on Orc clans are a familiar tale. But I have not heard of the Writhing Wyrm tribe. Still, you probably took quite a journey to get here. Did you have much trouble travelling? This was now the second orc she had met who was keen to do violent things to evil. She wondered if there was some new cult starting up among the tribes and clans, preaching opposition to evil via blunt instruments. And just how did they define evil anyway? Nerwen sighed. She knew there were as many different kinds of Orc culture as there were human. Ranging from the feral and bestial to the martial and honour-obsessed. Adventuring would sort them out, but there seemed to be a sad lack of quests. Perhaps the hall would be different when some of the other quests returned.
11. Everyone has to start somewhere. If you look at the ages for elven characters on the first page of the hall you'll see they range from 18 -Alexis (Masked Builder) to 374 - Rufus Galadhras (Rufus) I guess your question is not about ageing rate, since presumably we all age at the same rate, but a cultural question. i.e. Humans are 'adults' at 18 (or so) and are 'old' at 70ish. What is 'adult' and 'old' for elves? But why can't there be different answers? Perhaps some groups of elves live among humans, so an 18 year old elf is 'adult' (see Alexis...) Others are more culturally 'elven' growing up separate from humans and counting decades like humans count years, so 180 is maybe old enough to have some responsibility and to go out and see the world. I get the impression Sandy is very uninterested in answering questions like these, leaving it up to individuals to work it out among themselves. Even better, it provides for Roleplaying hooks. For example Nerwen would likely see Alexis as a baby, since she's not yet 2 decades. She won't flat out treat her as such (especially without PMing Masked builder to discuss it!) and Nerwen's been around enough humans that she kinda understands they grow up quickly. Besides, there are other odd ages out there. De'kra is 11? Namyrra is 1337 (or is that LEET?). I think she's already complained about 'pre-millennials'! Does it affect the game? Only incidentally... Is it a problem? not at all. Hope this help you sort it out in your head.
12. Disturbed from her light meditation in the currently quiet hall by the boisterous newcomer, Nerwen stands to welcome him. nuqneH! qaStaH nuq! (What do you want! What is happening? or more politely, Hi, how are you going?) thlngansnagan? (Orc-speak? or Do you want to speak in Orcish?) Or would you rather speak in common, since that's what everyone else speaks. I think Gorg is asleep at the moment, he hasn't even signed up for the latest quest! Nerwen gives Knifk plenty of personal space, since she doesn't know whether he has spent much time around humans (and elves).
13. Intregued, Nerwen replied. I have never heard these fairy tales of a land called... Erth did you say? A fairytale helmet certainly makes you look fearsome! My name is Nerwen. Did you grow up in the free isles or did you travel here? My home is on the edge of the Kingdom of Duplova. Nerwen sense that there is more to Alexander than it seems. As if he had more experience than he let on.
14. Looking around, Nerwen sees a very young elf, wearing a helmet of strange design. A hero she had not yet met. Strangely he seemed to smell of the desert though. Nerwen crossed the floor to greet him. Hello there young one. Where did you get that helmet? Nerwen smiled warmly
15. Refreshed from her day of meditation in Triad Park Nerwen returned to the hall. She saw a new quest pinned to the questboard. Seeing the names of the heroes she had met already she signed her name in a neat hand, using the common tongue. Nerwen Calmcacil (played by Chromeknight) Level #1 Elven Cleric signs up for Quest #13 Moving into the hall, proper she sees the dozing form of Gorg. Since he would be keen to quest also, she nudges him with her staff. Hey sleepy head! There's a new quest on the board. You should sign up! That done, she sits closer to the bar.
16. No... chuckled Nerwen softly It means... well, rogue is one way to say it in the common tongue. Since I did not yet know your name , it was better than saying 'hey you'. It's clear by the number of knives you carry that you follow the path of Mercutio, the trickster. It is good to meet you also. Nerwen sees the activity in the hall winding down. Excusing herself she heads out to a quiet place to meditate. I'm sorry, I was there when I was in my 19th decade. It was a long while ago. I will need to meditate to remember the details. Most likely your brother went there well after I left. Please excuse me, I will come back later and tell you what I recall. Nerwen bids all a farewell and steps out of the hall.
17. Nerwen was intregued by the scally hero, though a little dizzy from his swivelling! You are an ice mage? That will be useful in battle! It sounds like heroes have often had to face beasts and vermin in their adventures. It will be an honour having you protect me if we adventure together. I do not know much about your kind. Your life underwater sounds difficult and full of conflict! I am not sure I would want to live underwater, much as I like swimming! Looking around at the heroes in the hall. It seems there is a good group here now, I am looking forward to beginning a quest.
18. Nerwen nodded, it was a familiar tale. I stayed with the Shivering Axe clan on the far border of Duplova, they had a similar tale. Perhaps there are forces hunting the Orc clans, perhaps as revenge for Ennon. Or maybe Tarokai was treating with powerful beings that are seeking payment from his kin. In any case, I am not a human, but an Elf.I guess you have not met our kind yet. Nerwen remembers Karg of the Shivering axe clan I would gladly help you find your vengance, and tell you all I know of the scattered clans. It is good to meet you! Nerwen holds her hand out in a traditional Orc greeting.
19. Nerwen looked closer at the grey clad figure. So you are... She would have to sharpen her observation skills. Perhaps Galadrya would offer guidance when she meditated tonight. Such a gift is not uncommon amongst the Taur'quassir, I can see you also have a sharp eye for traps and escape routes. No doubt you will do well as you go adventuring. But tell me more the heroes you have met so far... And what have you seen out in the city? Indeed you do! It looks like a tarsal bone, it must have been a mighty dragon! Have you travelled far to get to the Free Islands? What is your clan? Nerwen smiled at Gorg's exuberance. Thinking; He will be a mighty barbarian, swinging that bone around.
20. Intrigued by the figure coiled around a bar stool, Nerwen glides over to join the conversation. You said you were Sarick? My name is Nerwen. And Guts? You look like another Cam'wethern yes? You're both new to the hall? What is it that you do Sarick? Where have you come from? You are Naga, correct? Nerwen wondered if there would be more Naga seen on the shores of Eubric over the next year, she had heard rumours of snake people moving through the nearby lands of Njago. Turning back to the pale rogue, In a tree? Interesting. I wonder how they got there. Have you met these heroes? Guts and Sarick I believe. But I did not catch your name. The pale rogue was clearly happy to talk. Nerwen wondered if he had realised if she was an elf, and likely old enough to be his great grandmother twice over.
21. Thanks for the welcome. After following many quests I decided to pull the bricks out and sign up. There are a few females, a few elves and some clerics, but no female elven clerics, and the game can always use more clerics! I'm looking forward to questing with the heroes from the hall. Especially if the quests have puzzles like Zepher's or WBD's!
22. Nerwen returned from visiting the temples dotted about Eubric. At the bar a new figure was shouting and thumping tables. She could see that it was an orc clutching a long bone. From her decade spent working in an orc refugee camp, Nerwen knew the volume and violence was just their way and necessary aggressive. Still, amongst so many humans, such actions could be misunderstood and so she stepped up to address the newcomer in Orcish. nuqneH! qaStaH nuq! (What do you want! What is happening? or more politely, Hi, how are you going?) Turning to the young rogue standing near the orc she said, Greetings Cam'wethrin! Have you been here long? Where did you get your swords? They look similar to those of elvish make. Nerwen picks up a goblet of water as she speaks.
23. Nerwen strode into the hall purposefully. Although the weather during her travels had been kind, she was still dusty and thirsty from her trek. The tables were sparsely occupied, with a scattering of heroes talking quietly amongst themselves. She had noticed the questboard as she came in, quickly figuring that most heroes were currently out adventuring, or moving around Eubric port. Nerwen Calmcacil adds her name to the roster of heroes and, downing her water, steps back out onto the street to further explore the city.
24. On behalf of all those following the quest and trying to figure out the puzzle, Thank you!Hopefully Lady Wren doesn't wuss out and just give you the word that Cronk already guessed.Even better if she gives you the word with the 'z' in it...
