Heroica RPG - Quest#13: The Darkstar
Chromeknight replied to Rumble Strike's topic in The Heroica Archive
Undead! and I'm running low on ether... Battle Order Knifk - black scorpion Guts -spider Dak (-red scorpion) Gorg (-throw holy bomb) Nerwen -heal hat skeleton >Sarick -bearded skeleton (bracketed actions suggested, not yet confirmed!) Dak! Take the red scorpion that Gorg was targeting so he can use his holy bomb. I'll heal the hatted skeleton from the back row Sarick, you spells will hurt the undead, they just won't do double damage. This is going to be a tough fight! -

Nerwen helps to shift the rubble covering the skeleton. Perhaps this was one of the unfortunate miners that Artie and Bert spoke of. -
Dance of blades. Neat sidestep of the row rules there Sandy! Firewall. Is that for next five melee attacks or any attacks, even harpoons and shuriken?

[quote name=Rumble Strike' date='06 December 2011 - 05:37 AM' timestamp='1323110258' post='1135496] OOC: I think that's right from what people have said, and their updated signatures. Bear with me whilst I build the next part of your adventure - I had an interesting idea and it needs to be done at this point of where you are in the mine. Should be up later on, if all goes well. toQM: This matches my list. mastering is going well! toParty: I'm happy to no include shovel found items in the general loot list that I'm keeping. However if you find loot and want to contribute it to the party, feel free and I'll include it for that time. Or let me know and I'll count it generally. You look lost in thought Miss Sorrow. Do you sense some kind of disturbance? Do you have an idea on where to next? As she speaks to Sorrow she casually reaches behind her with her staff and pokes Dak in the stomach. Focus! I'm sure she's a lovely girl and all, but this is not the time for getting lost in your own head. Don't ask how I know, call it intuition... -
Further to these questions, if you have an idea of what you want your character to look like but don't have all the peices available, put a message here and perhaps someone might be able to help you out. (As long as your request isn't too outrageous!) Some things to be aware of that you might not have picked up from just glancing at the heroica topics Humans (and elves and dwarves) are yellow heads. (or possibly brown!) Flesh coloured heads have become a race called Mopags, but don't feel restricted by that. There are several other races that have made their appearance as Heroes, check out the list at the start of the hall for pointers there. Gender age and race are for flavour only, they make no difference in play. (Unless a QuestMaster rules so for the heroes in the quest they are running). Looking forward to seeing you in the halls!

Nerwen looked at Knifk with his shiny new weapons. How Knifk looking? Very good! OOC: for your own copy. Knifk! Let me know if anyone else needs doing! -

After listening to each hero speak, and watching some surreptitiously move items closer to their feet, Nerwen spoke. Guts, take the cutlass and the shovel, use them well. Knifk, the Katana and Shield. Dak, here is the Dagger and the Whip Sarick the staff is yours Gorg, if you'll be happy with the spear, that will leave the Hammer for me. But Gorg can also have the Pickaxe too, if you promise not to swing it around near me! Is that everything allocated? Hmm rummaging in her satchel, Nerwen pulls out a short length of leather strap. If you want to tie your hair back Sarick, you could use this. Perhaps Sorrow will braid it for you when we return to the village. Let's continue onward! -

Nerwen, distracted by an unbidden thought of exploring the Karstic mines with Lenwë, does not immediately register the party had stopped. When she did turn she was confronted by the sight of a now hirsute Sarick. Stifling a laugh she was about to speak when Knifk burst from an alcove of the side of the passage carrying a load of tools and weapons. His face was split by a wide grin, he look like all his Centurus' days had come at once. Gesturing for him to calm down she said. Put everything on the ground. Take a look everyone and when everyone has spoken, We'll divide them up. -

Nerwen placed her hand on the back of Dak's neck and, calling on the power of Galadrya she sends waves of calming energy toward the young rogue. If no one is going to explore.further.. Nerwen leads the party back to the intersection and down the other path. Come on Sorrrow, lead the way! Torch up! -

Nerwen shakes her head groggily as she stands up. Her breath mists slightly in the air, chilled from Sarick's frost-burst. She gathers up the various items scattered around the cave and begins distributing them. Seeing Guts' eyes fixed on the gold ore, she tosses it his way. Dak gets a venom, as does Knifk also. Sarick is given the phoenix essence and Gorg the holy bomb. Finally she drops the bone in her satchel and takes out one of her potions. Since her ether is beginning to run low, and she does not have a tonic, She drinks a potion to restore her health. I'm keeping track of loot, so it'll balance out in the end. OOC: Don't forget to update your profiles. Does anyone want to dig or otherwise explore? When we're done here we'll go back to the junction and take the other tunnel. -

Awkward is my normal. And I'm all about the asking questions. I imagine I'd be more so if town because I'd want to know what was going on. And if I was town and waiting to be PM'd by another town (who is also waiting), it'll be a long wait. -

Nerwen sees Dak confused from the bat flitting around his head in a dizzying manner. Slipping past his flailing doubled swords, she places her hands on his shoulders and points him toward the enemy. Pushing him gently in the direction of the baby dragon even though she is unsure if he'll swing back and hit one of the party. She thinks that all of the party, except perhaps her, could withstand the hit, and the chance that he'd finish off the fight was worth the risk. Steady Dak! Keep going that way! she calls, hoping her encouragement doesn't distract him from his task. Moving back behind the others in the front row she butts Gorg with the tip of her staff in the same direction, toward the baby dragon. Swing your bone Gorg! OOC: Provisional choice for Gorg for if he doesn't post in the next 3 hours. I don't want to be too bossy, but I'd like to keep combat rounds close to 24 hours if possible. Long enough for everyone to post, but quick enough for the game to flow. Please let me know if you disagree and especially let me know (PM is fine) if you are going to be away from keyboard for more than 24 hrs while we're in combat! -

Ok, def. One last lesson from you. PMing people. Especially early. Is it good? is it bad? or is it a total turkey-shoot? What I mean is I've heard people say... and Is it just practice, being able to PM without giving away scumminess? Are there some tips on when to PM and why? And what particularly to say? -

Just finished reading the afterlife board. Good to know it's not over when it's over! Hearing what others said, and Def's commentary produces so many facepalm moments. So many ways I could have played better. Playing scum is stressful. Thanks for the (big) pass Def, and if Yumiyoshi is right I'll need some practice at pretending to be town! I'm going to have to read back and see if I can see what marks me out when I'm hunting for scum. Thanks again all! Hope to see you in game again. -

OOC: I thought Gorg had chosen. Apparently not. As far as I know Xarzan chose ice to start with because it is strong against vermin, which are common low level enemies. The damage looks correct. I can't work out how the healing effect changes spells channeled through the weapon though. Well done Knifk and Guts! And Sarick too! Now hit me with that staff! Battle order. Knifk Guts Gorg Sarick Nerwen Dak Nerwen hits the mongrel again from the front row If we're done before Dak, he won't need to make a confused attack. -

Oh.It wasn't a complaint at all. And I'm not worried about metagaming so much anyway, it's a double edged sword. In fact it makes things a tiny bit more predictable, which is all grist for the mill -

Regarding Franklin. I meant that from the point of view of the scum, at that time, we didn't think there was a lot of reason to suspect Franklin, and since he was going to be investigated, that it was unlikely someone would target him. As it was, there was reason to suspect, and the investigation wasn't reason to hold off. If you're talking about something else, feel free to clarify! -

Sorrow, keep holding that light up, we don't want to hit each other by mistake! -

Well done everyone. Especially the end game. Having a list of three suspects and two scum gives a lot of power to town.I made a mistake running a plan to keep Wully. On several levels. Essentially I was betting that he'd end up killing more town than scum. And that I'd be able to (gently) influence who he targeted. Turns out that wasn't the case. As it was it got Biskie killed and exposed first Franklin and then myself. As I said in several PMs town wins by talking to each other and by finding the doctor and cop and using them well. That's what happened. I was just on the wrong end of it!Sorry Cecile (Cecilie), I was the one who called (and performed) the kill on you, I thought you might have been beginning to suspect me. I was right, and you'd passed on your suspicions to Carrots. Carrtos, never had any idea you were doctor until you revealed it. The block was, as said above, just lucky. Voltana/Zam. I got the sense that your friendship was a little metagamey, do you guys know each other outside EB? Ironically I also live in the same city. Didn't help though! In any case, again I totally bought your line that it was Zam who was investigator and was very confused day 4 with a result coming out. Clever play having the real investigator come out as just the 'messenger'. I figured the real cop wouldn't put himself out there like that. It was a funny game, a mix of mistakes the scum made (lead in several cases by me!) some lucky plays, <One shot. Lucky one shot. Lucky one shot on the Godfather. Lucky one shot on the Godfather after he'd just been investigated! ((Expletive deleted!))> and some good coordination by the town. Particularly toward the end. Well done everyone! I had a lot of fun.Hope there's no hard feelings! -
No need to be embarrassed. I posted the link for people who had no idea what it all was in reference to. I only learnt about the meme recently myself...
