There are, broadly, two ways to spot scum. The first is when someone knows something they probably shouldn't. Eg someone is certain about the card a mayor threw out, even though they can't have seen it. Or knows an investigation result as its announced. The second way is when groups of people act together, here by voting. This is why we need more votes, for people to vote clearly and quickly. Missing votes obscures our information. Doing it deliberately may be a sign of scummyness.
-
Once we have some people that are probably town, that'll push others to probably scummy. A part of the game is also knowing what card got tossed by the mayor before handing to the TCC. The more uncertainty there, the harder it is to evaluate odds of what the next mayor will get.

Has Ralph Brooks actually nominated Anne yet? In bold I mean. Anyway, if it does count, I vote yes. Yes

Secret Enemies - Confirmation and Discussion
Chromeknight replied to Bob's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Really? That's all people have got? More than 24 hours since thread opens and only 5 replies. And more than 12 hours since the last. I know this isn't a regular game where one might fear dying in the night theres a bunch of information out there that needs to be uncovered, but still a handful of posts seems like people aren't even trying. -
Well, today should be straight forward. We have an investigation result to test and, if f the previous government are not lying scumbos, some reasonable odds. There is (pending honesty) a 15 in 33 chance of drawing on two scum, one town policies, A 4 in 33 chance of three scum cards. And half that of three towns. We have a 12 in 33 chance of drawing two town, one scum cards. In the case of town towns, Lindsey should pass both to the TCC, the need to pass a town policy very clearly outweighs the need to test the chair.

Secret Enemies - Confirmation and Discussion

I'd offer to help, but, you know, playing. -
That's using your brain. Remember. The scum know who the GF is but he doesn't know who they are. They want to clear the GF so the town will install him (her) as TCC later in the game, which gives them the instant win. Robert doesn't need to be scum for that to have gone down. In fact, it's better if he's not, makes him a patsy.
-
So. Let the lies and fingerpointng begin. Clearly there weren't three town policies in play. And likely not two, since that would mean both Joshua and Robert both discarded town policies and out themselves both as scum. Will Joshua say he gave Robert one of each (to which Robert must cry liar!) or will Robert post first saying he was given no choice and was handed two scum policies leaving Joshua to cry liar! Or protest that, against probability he was given three scum policies and also had no choice. Which will it be?
-
Yes, but. My statement wasn't that it'd never happen, it was that there's no need to do it now, when the scum are trying to appear town so as not to be outed and marginalised.
-
I quite agree. Town should never pass scum policies if they have a choice, not even to get powers to use against the scum. Anyone who says they had a choice and picked the scum policy to get the powers is a lying scumbo.

I went from 'it's most likely she was town' (8 to 3 on) to an unstated 'if she was town then...' That should be contextually read at the start of the sentence you quote. Yes it could now be eight town, two scum, one godfather (the Guv has confirmed Betsy wasn't the GF). Given three scum is the number for ten players, and we had twelve, dropping them to two in eleven would disadvantage them. So it is reasonable to expect that the breakdown of roles you quote is correct, even if it's unconfirmed by the host. And we've no reason to think he will now come out and confirm it, if he was going to he would have already. As for this current legislative session. We know there are 14 cards left, 5 town, 9 scum. Three town cards (a bad result for town even though it means a town policy is passed) is about 2% chance. Three scum cards is about 23% Two town, one scum is about 24% (This means if Robert sees two town cards, Joshua is very likely town, that he threw a scum card rather than a third town) Two scum one town is the most likely at about 50% If a scum policy passes then one of three things happened. Joshua drew three scum cards (about one in four chance) - we gain no info on Joshua and Robert. Joshua drew two scum and a town card (about one in two) and tossed the town. -if Joshua can post first, he can claim he handed Robert one of each, otherwise Robert reveals he was handed two scum cards and Joshua needs to claim the third was also scum to avoid being outed. Thirdly Joshua could be handed two town and a scum (one in four chance) for a scum card to be played then, both Joshua and Robert would have to discard town cards, meaning they were both scum and communicating about what message they'd be putting out. Look for lots of fingerpointing, indirect blaming and no clear statements that the other is lying.

Guv Bob has told us, Betsy isn't dead. It wasn't the scum. She had to leave the council for ... Work reasons. If we, as a council pass enough of scum policies, the Mayor will gain various powers of office, one of which is to boot people off the council, (ie. Kill them). It's not a scum power, it's a mayor power. And it's not a night power, it doesn't happen between days, the mayor makes the choice in open session of council meeting, we can help them make the decision, if it comes to pass. The mayor is important, people.
-
We can reasonably surmise Betsy isn't the godfather. Losing that role would break the game. So it's most likely she was town. I know I'm town, and it's most likely Lindsey is. That means from the nine players left, we have three scum, one godfather and five townies. If Joshua is scum then Robert is town. There is no point stacking the council yet, the Mayor controls what the TCC sees, so can manipulate it so a townie must pass a scum policy. Or he could be the GF being set up to appear townie by passing a town policy. If Joshua is town, it's fifty/fifty as to whether Robert is scum (or GF) or town. If he's the GF, he'll pass a town policy, as above, but otherwise he'll pass a scum policy and lie about the options presented. In either case, against what Robert was saying above, it isn't simply a question of is the TCC town, but is the Mayor or not, and why was Robert chosen. Failing governments is a risk, and one that in my experience people are often unwilling to do. But Christina is right. Not failing goverments advantages the scum, who want to rush decisions, push stuff through without discussion and set up the GF to be voted TCC when the time is ripe. All in all, I'm voting no at this point.

The two scum policies are out until the policy deck is empty. At which point they're reshuffled and reused. So as it stands. Town - 1 Scum - 0 5 town, 9 scum policies in the deck. 2 scum policies discarded.
-
Lindsey is telling the truth about what I gave her. I sent through a town and a scum card. Because I was handed a town and two scum cards. I would suggest that Lindsey is probably (but not definitely) town. I agree with the assessment, that since no one can check what I threw there is doubt about what I am. The two options for what the Guv handed me are Town-scum-scum (10/15 = 66%) And Town-town-scum (5/15 = 33%) So, yes, I'm claiming the more likely option, but not because it's more likely but because it is what happened.
-
Short answer, yes. We have an stack of policies to go through. Each day, The Govenor Bob will draw three policies, which are labeled. The mayor passes two of those three to the chair. The chair chooses one and it becomes law. The policy may give powers to the mayor to use that day. As town we want town policies passed (although town favoured policies grant no powers). The mayor and chair aren't allowed to confer while making the decision about which policy to enact. And we expect the scum to lie about what policies Guv Bob handed them in order to cover why they enacted a scum policy.

Huh? Wha? I'm odd? For essentially picking a name based on who is sitting where at the council table? If we were face to face. I'd be able to see who's grinning shiftily and who is looking at each other slyly. As it is, I've only got the dumbness of posts to go on and you're up there. Near as I read, you think dragonfire is odd for his insistence that the TCC be 'experienced' but then, having worked out that I'm the mayor not him, the oddness is transferred to me without reasoning. On what basis would you have me assign the chair?
-
Should I thank the random number generator gods or curse them? In any case I nominate Lindsey Green as TCC, for no other reason than she's top of the list. It goes without saying (but I'll say it anyway) I vote yes to this. I expect that future council sessions will be much more deliberative about nominating a chancellor Town council Chair. But as we have nothing to go on yet, let's use this to get some information.

Nerwen shook her head. Don't feel any obligation to keep him alive. If he values his life, he'll ask to make a deal. But if we preserve him without sign of his cooperation, it will be difficult to extract information he does not wish to give. Though, I am concerned that there are five assassins named, but only four clan leaders. -

Take Boomingham with you, in case he engages and you need a shield. Lawerence, can you take the shackles of war from Thalion. Daske, Aazy. Stay down here near Kaastal. Shout if the assassin comes back. Thalion, you and Olmstyr go that way. Seal him if you can. I'll take Tra-Serral and go around the other way, trying the same thing. -

I'd also like to leave some of us near Kaastal, in case he pops back or takes a pot shot. So, two up, two pairs around and two stay down? -

Thalion. If we get close again, perhaps you or I could seal him? That may prevent his teleporting. Maybe try the shackles of war also? He carries some sort of ranged weapon, so we must find a way to prevent him sniping at Kaastal. -

Once again, sorry everyone. Combo of getting back from holidays and prepping to run a polling place in tomorrow's federal elections here in Australia. Should be the last time I can't post with 24 hrs. Baba's fight is not with heroica, but with the whole world. I'm told she is the one who sank the continent of Mercution, leaving only the highest peaks as the island of Uland. She is an ancient mindflayer and has made deals with demons and even things from beyond this world. Nerwen shrugged, then put the cloak of Espionage on again in place of her etherial cloak Lets see who is out of place. -

To Boomingham she says quietly No, I have not told you the tale yet, and I will. But it is short, our quest was compromised from the start. She'd got inside the old hermits head and he turned his coat. We could not have caught her, no matter what we did. Nerwen speaks louder Let's go.
