2008 Technic Line Up
5150 Lego replied to paul_delahaye's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
More than likey it will be construction based then. Since we just got to peices of farming equipment. Then there's of course there the always the posibility of another crane. I wouldn't mind another one if it were along the line of this type.. EDIT: Ihad a bunch of ideas with pics, but they won't let me load pics with dynamics. Sohere are my other ideas.. Large telahandler -scraper- lego never had one -grader-lego never had one either, but doesn't have much function. -wheeled or tracked excavator Now that you thikn about it, its kinda hard -
I'm going to go as a transformer. Not sure who yet.

Well, i dunno. Many people thought that as long as there are lego has the Star Wars license that there would be no space line, and we got mars mission. So there might still be hope. Speaking of the 599 GTB, does anyone have it? I was thinking about asking for it for Christmas. I have the enzo already, and i'm preety happy with it. I'm guessing the 599 isn't much differnt though. Anyways, does anyone wanna take bets/guess's on what the 08 techinc flagship will be? -

Good point. I wouldn't have any problem with that if they would have realsed the Ferrari's with suspention, and a transmission like in the last supercar. 4884 i think it was? -
Fantastic! Great find Sinner! Very good detail on the interiors! I love the round 1X1 plates used as popcorn in the movie theater! I'm really digg'in the service station too! Love the service bay! Lego really got this one right!
-
That is sweet! But i think his vehicle form needs to have more to do with comunications, but the bot form is spot on. Espeacailly with his gun. Perfect. Attually, it was there not being enough that was the major complaint that most people had. Mainly bot action. I just finished watching the speacail features of the movie DVD. Preety cool. I have a new found respect for the designers of the bots and the movie as a hole. The amount of detail is incredible.

Yup. Just like in the moblie crane of 05. For some strange reason, i have a feeling were going to get a another crane for the 08 techinc flagship. Hopfully we'll get a super car of some sort though. Lord knows were due for one. -
These are great! Already made room on my shelf for the new FFX Enzo. The mini scuderia truck is cute, but not sure if it will make it into my collection.I guess thats cause i'm spoiled by the first scuderia truck whitch is one of the most detailed and beautiful sets that lego ever came out with!

Very nice.Reminds me of the movie "Back to the future". Nice thing is, that even though its got a 50's feel, it would still work with alot of todays sets as well. The movie theater would look good next to cafe' corner. I really like gas station too. I really like the fact that they included a service bay with a role up door! Sweet!
-
Nice. I nearly pooped myself when i saw that artist rendering of long arm! Hopefully the movie producers see that!

I doubt it. Thats a problem that somelse brought up about starscream. Theywere upset cause he wasn't his trade mark red/blue/silver color sceme. Even in bot form. But that just wouldn't have looked good. A silver F-22 andthen all of a sudden he's blue and red in bot form? Same for sound wave. Lets say he was a millitary Hummer comunications truck with either a desert, or tradional camoflage paint sceme. To all of a sudden have a bunch of blue apear when he's in robot form just wouldn't make any sence. I think this is one of the main reasons Starscream wasn't his trade mark colors. There just aren't any fighter planes used today that have thoses colors. So enless Soundwave is a an import car, or SUV with a huge stereo i don't his colors working either. I will however agree, that making the characters more reconisable makes them a bigger hit with the fans. This was one of the big problems that the G1 fans had with Starscream. Though i thought he hadone of the best bot forms, i can see the fans point on this. Like i said, this willbe intersting to see the outcome. : Well, apparantly dino bots as well as Destructicons (or were they Constructicons? 8-| ) were promised forthe second movie with Bonecrusher coming back as a bulldozer or somthing. Not sure how exatly how there going to pull of the dinobots, but again, it will be interesting to see.

I have to agree. Nobody but Cullen should be the vioce of prime. I'd love to see Inferno as thatred fire engine. I think that would work out perfect. Well,if he's a comunications military vehicle, then i doubt he'll be his trade mark blue colors. This might be a bit of a challenge if they planon keeping him reconisable. Well by then the mustang is due for a make over, so maybe we'll see barricade as a souped up mustang, or maybe even the new Challenger. Its also due out by 08. Doubt we'll see Jazz back. I just had a thought. Do you think that any of the bots will have the same alt form as in the first movie? I'm guessing that they will be simular, but not the exact same as in the first movie.Manily due to merchandising.
-
I'm all for the same production team! I they did a fantastic job on the first one, so why fix somthing that isn't broken? As far as characters go, i'm sure arcees's is going to make it in,as well as sound wave. Rumor hasit though that he would be some kind of an import with a huge stereo, or a comunications type emergency vehicle. Whats guys feeling on that? Not sure if him being a boom box would work on the big screen, espeacailly since frenzy was one already. Barricade will most likely change his alt form for the second movie since his cover is blown as the S281 Saleen mustang police car. Kinda sucks, cause he was my favorite Decepticon. But it would be cool to see prowl come back.maybe as a tricked out charger or magnum poilce car. This could leave barricade to be some kind of a race car like he was orginally (though i don't think a formula1 car would work). Well, TF comes out on DVD today in the states. Going to pick it up after work today!

What game are we playing at the moment?
5150 Lego replied to Mr Hobbles's topic in Culture & Multimedia
What? Doom 3 was one of the best! I was thrilled when "DOOM 3 Resurrection of evil"came out. Both were great! Of of the first games that i couldn't play in the dark! :-P But its good to see another DOOM fan on here. I just got Halo 3. Never played Halo before,so its quite interesting. -
Loving that cargo plane the more and more i see it! And that has tobe the most detailed forklift lego has ever came out with!

Umm....Ok. So is the contest on, or not? Mods seem to disagree with you VBBN.

Yup! There's ussualy 2 waves of techinc every year, with the flag ship set released laterin the year. Very curious to find to see what the big daddy 08 techinc set will be. Like most have said, a supper car of some sort with the new power functions would be nice, but my bet is we'll be getting someing inthe lines of contruction. -
Just cause you hate the series doesn't mean its gone sour. They both have a larger following than you think. You even pointed out that they both have had multiple movies, and the comicbooks are still going strong (where Alein vs. Predator orginaly started).

Sorry about that. I meant ot say that i SHOULDN'T have said that phonix's opinion was wrong. Everyone is entiled to there opinions. Thanks for pointing that out Hinckely! Phonix, sorry about that buddy! *wub*

Well, maybe i should have been a bit more clear. I'm not looking for exact scale replicas, but i like the fact that the size of the new planes and trucks are more reflective of what you would see in real life. 4 wide planes just don't do it for me. I realize that the mini fig is not proprtioned correctly. I have no problem with that, but i like to have my trucks to be able to transport more than one minifig and a but load of cargo!! I guess i should have said that phoinx's opinion was thw wrong one, but i don't feel that lego is soley "just about the brick". Being able to create somthing that is reconizable as somthing in real life is what i like best!

Well,it is still just the years openers sets. I think its alittle to soon to judge that yellow truck since we don't know for sure all its functions. Hopfully it will do more than just raise the boom, but at least there startingto use the new motor functions. Can't wait to see what the techinc flagship for 08 will be. Its going to be preety hard to top the bulldozer of 07! -
Wow! Where to start..... Well lets start with the cargo line. post plane, and van... not bad. I'm not a fan of 4 wide planes, but this one has a cute factor to it. As does the van. Wish it were a little bigger, but the mail box is a nice touch. Cargo truck.... Very nice. i would have prefered 8 wide so you can haul as much cargo as possible, but it wil fit well with the cargo truck in the sea port of 07'. But that forklift is absolutely perfect!! The most realisitic city forklift that LEGO has made yet! This will defenatly beon my list! Caro Plane.... Now that iv'e seen it upclose, i like it even more! Looks great!! Lots of great accesorries!! I loe the cargo lift! Ya its big, but thats one of the things that makes it as great as it is!! Police station..... perfect. Absolutley perfect! Nuff said. Surrvailance truck..... Not bad, but not super great either. Again, this should have been 8 wide. Has lots of great details and storage compartments, but is to simular to the last survailance truck. I might pick this up, but if so,would need some heavy modding. Helocopter.... Cute. LEGO did well with this. Sea plane.... Dun Dun Dunnnn........ I stand behind my original statment. I still like it. A bit big yes, but still usefull. This will be on my list as well. On to techinc... Boom truck... Alittle disapointed. Just a truck with a boom. Basicly a motorized version of the firetruck we got in 07'. Dune buggy... Ok, nothing speacail. Motorcycle... Again, nothing speacail. Racers.... Ferrari is looking good. FXX ENZO... Sweet! Opening doors! Looks great!!! Mini Scuderia Truck..... Cute, but not sure if this will make it into my collection. Nothing compares to the real Scuderia Truck of 05'! Thats all i could see in the pics for ferrari line. Over all its looking good for 08!!! Can't wait for January!!!! Maybe we'll even see some by december!!

Wow. Your statment about realisim couldn't be farther from the truth. Maybe you don't want realisim, but most people do. Maybe you want a passenger plane the size of a standard car, but i want porportions. No,i don't expect all there sets to be exactly the way i would see them in every day life, but i'd like to be able to reconize it. Why do you think we have the ferrari line, and all those starwars USC sets? Those are made to be as real as possible cause thats what people want. Yes i realize that they don't use 3 piece hulls like the passenger planes, but there goal is still realisim. This is one of the main reason your seeing 8 wide trucks, and even 5 wide cars. So in esense, yes it is about realisim. If thats the line lego is going for, than i'm all for it. back to the plane. I don't have it myself, but my nephew does. He loves it. Little kids love the fact thats its big and sturdy (i know, i built it for him). I think alot of people here fail to realize that yes, we as AFOL contribute alot to the hobby, but there are many children out there that they still are aiming at as well. At age 10 i would have much prefered this size plane vs. the 4 wides of my yester years.
