THANX BIG TIME, my friend @danth! So if you like it please stay tuned for my other MOCs "model modularity pic(s)" I will upload later (not sure if it'll be today cos I am rewriting my LEGO webpage a bit, but definitely all of my MOC will have such pic posted here on Eurobricks + there are other like that on their respective home pages, you can check those there if you like)

Thank you for the stud.dat link BTW I am not using LDRAW tho I installed it a few months ago so basically I do not care about LDRAW much at this time, I only "resurected" it for my LDD POVRay render crater baseplane "hack"/trick and as I understand it now I basically do not need its inventory for my renders, just LGEO so that said the stud.dat is needed here really just for the LDcad testing purposes -

Beside the technical side, I quite like the model itself, nice one - what is it? It's your MOC? -

OK guys, but the question is: if Darats superquality bricks DID NOT INCLUDED those "wrong" stud element(s) and I definitely did not install anything except official AIOI from LDRAW then wherefrom it's got there? BTW if it is only in stud.dat, PLEASE could anyone from you send me the "normal" one so I just replace it (and problem solved)? -

Might be but do not blame me, I only said that the only difference I have in my LDRAW inventory are your superquality bricks, and as roland was searching for possible reason of the crashing I suggested him to look at your bricks and then he came with his finding you already saw (post #64)...that said I do not know anything more about the problem just want to solve it as it restricts me usind LDcad, that is all, so for any further explanation you should ask directly @roland, I guess -

[LDRAW] 3947a wrong logo-on-stud rotation
___ replied to ___'s topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I've just noticed/realised another problem: with real 3947a that dune with those two craters has grainy surface like that on slopes, but the one in LDRAW has silky surface. I thought I could do it by simply adding some normal{} values to the mesh in .pov file but it seems to me like the dune with those craters creates one big mesh stretching across whole plate, not just thru dune itself - does anyone know how to add that grain surface to the dune? EDIT: Hm, strangely enough it seems like I made it BUT to my surprise it acts a bit differently as I was afraid that when I apply the normal{} on complete baseplate that grain will also be visible on flat surfase of the bp and studs but it looks like it is applied only to the dune so...I do not know why but it seems it does what I wanted, strange... -
[POVRAY] #3947a crater baseplate for LDD renders
___ replied to ___'s topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Yes, I have noticed it but your bricks make problem with LDcad I am willing to use so I rather stay with the official bricks...better said, tomorrow roland - developer of that sw - found out the actual problem is your extremely detailed logo-on-stud/stud(s) having cca. 65000000 vertices which make his sw crash, sorry -

Ah, my english... Well, this way: no matter what for some reason MLCAD inventory compared to LDD is for me a big mess (no offense intended): for some reason I am completely lost just by scrolling thru it, to me it is not intuitive, when I am in LDD it's like "BUM, got it!", all is quicker to find etc., but of cpurse you are the programmer of the sw and maybe it is just the matter of getting used to it As for the input field: sorry, I said it wrong as I was misled again you see? when I see search I expect simple input text field where I write the word I am looking for but in your case it is actually a button which opens another window where one puts its word he is looking for...so I would changed it to: PLEASE could you change the color of the search/filter BUTTON to visibly differ from the background color of other windows and stuff in LDcad? -
[LDRAW] 3947a wrong logo-on-stud rotation
___ replied to ___'s topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Thanx for the link Thanx, but basically I am still designing only with LDD till roland make new alpha version of his LDcad so I can test it and to know if I will change it for LDD, cos I all I needed from LDRAW was just this crater baseplate, nothing else for now... Anyway stuff like pneumatic hose and ability actually make things behave like in real life (roland's scripting) is something that will probably make memusing LDRAW as well or maybe LDRAW only, we'll see -

OK, thanx, gonna try it out + some suggestions for A2: PLEASE, separate the search from the bricks "menu", cos it is quite messy (Lionel ) as I never noticed it thinking all the time it is just another brick category, you could inspire with LDD in this: one simple input row above inventory stuff and that's it ...and as we speaking about input fields: PLEASE, for better orientation "what-is-what" in your GUI could you make them in different color so one immediately registers them by sight? Like make them "normal" input text fields = pure white, or something -

Roland, actually I am LDD builder so when I saw Darats posts his super quality bricks for LDRAW I just grab them without any thinking about anything else as I could not know how things work in LDRAW, that said if all he changed in the crater base was the logo-on-stud then I of course do not need that at all, so if you tell me how to revert back to "normal quality" logo-on-stud I will do that of course BTW when you plan releasing Alpha 2? I am waiting for it cos because of the flexi hose bug in Alpha 1 I cannot test what I need/want -
[LDRAW] 3947a wrong logo-on-stud rotation
___ replied to ___'s topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Thanx, I used option 1 cos from coder's point-of-view its much better, faster and less possibilities for errors (think about like 600+ times writing your option 2, nooooo waaaaay )...thanx a lot for the solution, papacharly In fact I knew what to do (rotate<>), just did not know what variable stands there for the stud, silly me -
Today I have noticed that the crater baseplate from LDRAW has wrongly rotated logo-on-stud (as I am playimg with it in my LDD renders I took the original real LEGO 3947a baseplate - as I have them quantum here - for comparison): it should be parallel to the dune, that is the direction of the word should be from the smaller crater to the bigger one, now it is 90° to the dune which is wrong of course, so the word LEGO directing from the dune to the edge of the baseplate....it needs to be rotated +90°. QUESTION: is here anyone who could say if it is achievable by .pov code manipulation or should we wait for the LDRAW developers/designers to make it right (and if so where to post it so they know?)?
