  1. Well, like I said before. This was VERY hard to judge. I wish I would have had more than 7 points to give out. The skill in this build was really great. 74louloute 1 Nate 1 Joe H 1 Capto 1 Captain Blackmoor 1 Paul Cantu 1 Admiral Ron 1 -martinsuper
  2. I really like your port! I love building ports myself. This spring Im going to take my apart and rebuild it. I might change my fort in the front as well. I thought about the "two-sided" display like you have, but I just don't have the room for it. I want to eventually make a red vs blue with two ports on each side and a ship battle in the middle. http://www.flickr.com/photos/12213265@N05/...57621850946197/ -martinsuper
  3. Ah, what a nice big dock over there. NOW you have sold me on it! POST BUILDERS UNITE! http://www.flickr.com/photos/12213265@N05/...57621850946197/ -martinsuper
  4. YOU KNOW IT! Finally, being such a jerk pays off! Yeah, it becomes an addiction. I have 40 of them.
  5. I like it all but the green. I really didn't like any of the green parts on this set orignally. Change that and I am sold. -martinsuper
  6. When I traded/used up/sold my castle stuff to go totally pirate, I kept all my black falcons. I love this! Blue coats and black falcons together! I have black falcon shields on the figureheads of my blue coat ships. VERY VERY COOL!! -martinsuper
  7. So how did you get it so early? -martinsuper
  8. For those who recognized themself in this MOC, that is no coincedence. Here is the list of the included sigfigs: Wouwie Zorro Erdbeereis Captain Zuloo SlyOwl Captain Greenhair Commodore Hornbricker Joey Lock Guss Ratshot General Armendariz I Scream Clone Admiral Croissant Cutlass-Iz Shadows Hound Knight Me Wow, I understand when the "core" guys get put in, or when the "old" guys get put in. But I have to say there is some personal insult when Joey gets put in there and I don't. I really am the Black Sheep when I can't get into one MOC! -martinsuper

  10. This reminds me of one of the old redcoat sets. I think it was Imperial Outpost? The shape of the building is much in the same. I think that this build is a very good start. For one, I think you could really improve it by ordering some bricks and changing some of the colors. I know that getting the right colors is always difficult when I am doing a build. As most have already said, having some sort of platform in front of the door would be a good idea. Perhaps upgrading your crane to a different design could really flesh out your build as well? Remember, with every MOC your are trying to "SHOW" a story, not "TELL" a story. I really look forward to a improved submission. Good Job. -martinsuper
  11. Because of you guys I never want to build anything. I think thats a compliment in a sad, sad way. -martinsuper
  12. Any MOC that makes me laugh as soon as I see it is a good one! I like the dead imperial, nice touch for rocking pirates. I really like the two-toned dock and the fish for air guitars. The top hat on the lead singer reminds me a lot of Aerosmith and ZZ Top, so a very nice rock touch. The only thing I would change is the color of the water to a more blue color. Very cool! Rock OUT! -martinsuper
  13. The building technique is very nice and original. Like others have said, NICE ROOF! I just need to have more detail and know whats going on here? -martinsuper
  14. AHHHH baby pirates everywhere! Very original and very funny idea. I like how you have made it look as comical as possible without going too far! I think the neatest part of the this MOC and the aspect of it that really feels like a school to me is the different training "modules". You have some swordplay, cannon shooting, treasure digging, navigation and plank walking. What else does a pirate need to know?! Well, maybe you could make an imperial "dummy" that pirates could shoot at or bayonet? I really like the wench woo-ing. very nice touch! I think the MOC could use some SNOT. Just to clean it up a little and make it look more flowing. I for one AM NOT a fan of SNOT on everything. But the background, rock-tops, and other non-walkable areas could use some. Very nice job! -martinsuper
  15. Notorious indeed! I think the greatest accomplishment of this MOC is that it really is a group of small MOCs that have been successfully put together. This is often much harder than it seems. I really enjoy how you have "clustered" concepts; such as the parrots in one part, the balcony made out of goblets, and the exposed brick look of the chimney. I like that the "ole timer" is a blue coat, kinda pays tribute to the first style of imperials. Perhaps he is a wondering veteran? I especially enjoy the organ room with all the detail in there. It seems in many MOCs these days the governor and our beloved pirate captain have become good friends. The vines on the buildings look colorful and not overdone. I like the way you constructed the dock and the water to show scale and action. Its easy to miss the bell, but again using a goblet to make a bell is something I never would have thought of. I also like how you used clear tile to show some liquid under the keg tap, very original idea. My only concern would be that there are many nice aspects of this MOC that are only viewable from a very small and definite angle. Do you think there is any way that you could opne it up slightly so that more of your quality detail is viewable from more than one side? I would only do this if it keeps the spirit of the MOC and also does not change or destroy the current look. Great Job. -martinsuper
  16. I love the roofs! it really brings out the chinese look!
  17. I have to disagree. I think in the spirit of the MOC the ships hull was designed as it should be. If it was a larger ship MOC where the entire ship would show the lack of tumblehome it would be an issue; and then I think I could agree with you totally. However, as it stands, and with the style of LEGO ship sets coming out now, I do not think that tumblehome would add or detract from this MOC. I believe that the overall build, technique, and style far exceed any advantage playing with the hull could add. -martinsuper
  18. Hey now! Thats when you say to your old buddy Martin Super; "hey Martin, loan me some blue coats and blue marines for this build!". And they would have been in the mail to you in short order! Like I said before, an amazing build! -martinsuper
  19. This is a totally different MOC all together! FANTASTIC changes you made to really bring out the story. As you have built it now, I don't think you even need a story anymore to describe what is happening. That is how you know it is well made! GREAT JOB! -martinsuper
  20. If you can't change the MOC, change the story! I think its much better as candy as well! Reminds me more of E.T.! -martinsuper
  21. Any MOC that makes me laugh before I even read the description is a good one! very good job of cathing the action sequence and imposing something from real life into pirate LEGO. I really like the look of the hill and the way you made a neat look spectators "area". The colors you chose are just fantastic! They are so rich and vibrant that the whole MOC just stands out beautifully! I really like new ideas and new building techniques and you have brough in both! Good job! -martinsuper
  22. What a fantastic MOC! I really enjoy the techniques you used for showing the minifigs doing a great number of things that minifigs can't really do (jumping, swimming, etc..). I LOVE how you built the side of the ship. Have you ever considered building a whole ship this way? I think it would be fairly amazing! I really like the pistol tucked into the belt and the "action" you have shown with the plank and all of the other minifigs. I am very impressed with this. I think the most impressive feature is that you showed a lot of action and fun without having to "fill" the entire MOC with stuff. As MOCs go, this one is rather open looking but still gets the job done without looking plane. GOOD JOB! -martinsuper
  23. Ah fantastic! Now I can see that it is a dentist shop! Another great mod using critic! -martinsuper
  24. Where do I start? First off, this is leaps and bounds better than the original fortress in so many ways that I don't think I could ever really count them. What I like: 1. The absence of a baseplate and the use of "real" brick rock is supurb. It is the basis for your excellant MOC. I can't call this a MOD because you did not really use the original as a base, but rather used the "spirit" of the original fort. 2. The crane! The old crane was so stupid and useless and this crane was the first thing I looked at and the first thing I fell in love with. It is a beautiful and original design from the top, bottom, and the simple but beautiful use of the grate. 3. The exposed brick looks so much more real and full, simply beautiful! 4. The cobblestone path is fantastic and the seam from the angle to the flat part of the walkway is almost invisible. 5. I love the dock, it is leaps and bounds better than the original! Again, looks much more real. 6. The scale. The fort really feels like a real fort and has a much better scale than the original scale for the size of the minifigs. 7. The roof. Great design and fits in perfectly with the rest of the MOC and the feel of the whole build. 8. The walkway for the cannons. I like that this is now two-tiered and a seperate section. It was not very playable in the original set at all. 9. The doors. The doors are also a fantastic design and bring the whole build together. 10. Tower tops. The top of the towers are simply fantastic in how they are simple but do a great job of keeping the scale of the whole fort and still being usable. What I don't like: 1. No water. The sand looks nice, but I would rather have water like the original. 2. RED COATS?! Eldorado was the one thing the blue coats had going for them, how about keeping it that way?! 3. The minifigs. As much as I don't like red coats, I would have rather seen them than the minifigs you chose. If you are going to put a red coat flag up there then put red coats in the fort and around it. I can see these are custom figs but I am not too keen on them. 4. The dock. I really like the dock as I said prevously, but why have the dock if you have no water? All in all, a VERY AMAZING build! A true tribute to a truly amazing set that captured many of my childhood hours! SIMPLY FANTASTIC! -martinsuper
  25. Very funny concept. I like the use of the blue coat admiral! I like the look, the build, and how you put it all together. I don't have an issue with the building techniques. My problem is that unless you told me this was an utlra primitive dental office, I wouldnt really know what these guys were up to. You have told me that its a dentist, and I can see that. But could you show me what without the storyline? Thats my only critic. Otherwise, nice build. Good Job. -martinsuper
