What do you want to see in the next round of the new line?
martinsuper replied to martinsuper's topic in LEGO Pirates
Goes without saying.... But I just said it. So does it really go without? Hmmmmmm -
Ok, I agree with everyone in saying this is a very nice MOC. WHAT STANDS OUT TO BE 1. How the soldier on the building is holding his sword. I always had my guys on "guard duty" hold their swords like that to make it seem like they were in a scabbard. You did this as well, VERY COOL. I know this is a little detail, but I liked it. 2. The Merchant!!! I see the Merchant torso in this MOC. He only appeared in Imperial Trading Post, and Skulls Eye Schooner. I always wondered why he was on the schooner, because he is not a pirate. I call him the only male civilian of the whole line. I always like seeing him in MOCs, and I ESPECIALLY like how you have used him here. Also, the hat he is wearing looks like its supposed to be on him. In general, a very nice port, but Im a sucker for small details, and I love the ones you have put into this. As for the hands as ears of corn, I was a little more sinister and thought they were a collection of hands from thieves!

Yeah, who hasn't asked that question about 500 times? I am working on my own right now. P.S. I think the new line is easier to incorporate into a larger port than the old sets, agree or disagree? -

I almost bid on that set of 11 minifig soldiers until I realized who it was selling them. It was none other than: "franklin_delano_bluth" He is a known Ebay scammer and I have reported him on several occasions. His scam is to list a whole bunch of lego pirate sets, advertise for people to bid on many and combine items, and then he cancels the big ones. Basically, he gets a ton of people to bid with 4 or 5 fake listings, like big pirate ships or Imperial Trading Post, cancels the fake ones, and sells some real small sets for much higher. I suggest that the members of this forum avoid him all together. I have watched him do this over and over again. I have sent him messages asking why Skulls Eye Schooner or Imperial Trading Post was canceled a hour before it ended, but lagoon lock-up didn't? He will not respond. Just giving you all a heads up, do what you want. -

Let me interrupt this Islander love fest to say that the most disapointing moment of my life was when I asked for LEGO pirate for Christmas and got Islander sets. Even as a kid, I swore to hate the Islanders from that day on. SOOOOOO, they make for good merchandise in my port as slaves for sale! I will get my revenge..... MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! P.S. The imperial soldiers have their way with their women as well! P.S.S. For all you soft-hearts, this is a joke, ok?!

In almost every thread that talks about the new line, I see a lot of "I wish" statements. What do you wish for? I wish that in the next round of the new line we FINALLY get a BIG imperial ship. Why are the good guys always so outgunned? I would like a ship that is as big as BB or bigger. Made in good ole' imperial fashion. I would like to see some mid-sized bases. Maybe they make a whole slew of imperial bases and they are all modular so they can connect into the trading post? That would be cool, maybe... So?! What do you want?! P.S. Please don't say I want them to re-release old sets. We all want that, so no need to say it!

I really like BB, and the new imperial trading post. I agree that it is fantastic to get new sets, and Im happy to get whatever I can!

The more I look at it, the more I think some guy went on brick link; bought the parts, put them together, and now is trying to make money on it. That is the only way I could figure they came to such a high price for it. -
When I was a kid (5-12), I was really into LEGO but my family didn't have a lot of money. My parents bought me what they could when they could. I think the reason I stayed in LEGO was because I had four or five friends who all had huge pirate collections. When I got older, my dad did the opposite of what many parents did, he told me to leave my LEGOs out and set up. I stayed into LEGO and kept building. My dad even put my stuff on display in the office of our family campground, and we got a really positive response about them. I started to get out of it my Junior year of high school. Pirate was dead (no longer) and to me didn't see to be coming back. I remember being 15, and getting Red Beard Runner for Christmas as well as Imperial Flagship. That was the year my family started doing better, so I finally got some better LEGOs! That was also pirates last run. Anywho, Im turning 27 now and I am an executive about to be married. I kept having a reoccuring dream that I would be in a store and discover LEGO pirates for sale again. I would have the dream a couple times a year. Most of the time, I would dream of finding Caribbean Clipper for sale. It was my favorite ship that I never got. So my fiance and I were in Target and for some reason I decide to go down the toy isle. There was LEGO pirates staring me right in the face! I bought one of every set, all at the same time, no questions. I called my dad (who just turned 60), and told him there were new LEGO pirates out and I bought them. My sets from when I was a kid were still on display. I stumbled on EuroBricks, BrickLink, and stuff on Ebay. I started buying like I was a kid with an adult's budget, because I was a kid with an adult's budget. My dad and I had a meeting where we took apart the "port" I had constructed. It was really some road baseplates, and a mess of pirate and town sets. We built a new table just for LEGO pirate. We (my dad and I, 60, and 27) are now working on making the port I always dreamed of, but never had the money or resources like BrickLink to build. I think I have honestly sunk about $1000 into it this year between sets and parts. I am more into it now that when I was a kid. I collected a lot of other toys, like Star Wars figures in their boxes. I am going to be selling my sets of those soon to buy more LEGOs. Everyone in my family is into it and everyone is excited.

Words cannot say how impressed I am by the port and the ship. The thing that sticks out the most to me is that you have managed to show your artistic style in the port and the ship and have them look like they belong together. The "feeling" of both is the same. Very well done! Makes my project look like child's play!

Go take a look first: Ebay Item Pirate Ship I dont know about this one. yeah its big, but the detail simply isnt there for me. For instance, the sails are all mismatched (I know this is a quick fix, but it deters the ship for me). It just seems big for the sake of being big. What is your opinion? -
I like the new line. I like it a lot. Why? Because it means we have more to work with, and something is better than nothing. I have heard a lot of people trashing BB. Im sure if they made a ship EXACTLY like one of the old ones, those same people would be mad that they didnt make something different. I like that ship, I like it a lot. I also like to commit the sacrilige of converting the pirate ships to imperial service! In that regard, BB is a piece of cake! It looks nice that way too! AMEN! I did an inflation calculation and then translated what the old sets would cost now. That is my price point when bidding on ebay. I bought a couple nice caribbean clipper cheaper than new once inflation was factored in. When we were kids, $20 was a lot of money. What is it worth now?!

I want an Imperial Ship that is as big or BIGGER than the pirate ship. Why are the good guys running around with this dinky ships?! It doesn't make any sense! Lets see some real Imperial power in a new ship design that is very classic and powerful. I'm taking a shit of Skulls Eye Schooner size, 8 cannon capability from the factory! Long live Blue Imperials!
