Here is a review of the new Monster Dino creator set with power functions First lets start with the box which is much larger than it needs to be!! It is one of the new style re-closeable boxes rather than the rip the sides style. This set is typical of creator and comes with three sets of instructions. The Monster Dino a kind of spider and a Crocodile The set comes with two of the new motors one small and one large, a sound module plus the new IR controler and receiver. There is a mix of techniques in this set the core is mainly studless technic, there are some studded technic parts and most of the details are standard creator style. There are two mechanisms one to control the legs and one to control the head and arms. The leg drive is from the large motor and the arm and head are operated from the small motor The completed mechanism will stand on its own without any detail added The detail is added to the base unit to complete the model. The operation of the Dino is very good the design for the motors and drives is very compact and well thought out. The walking motion works well although there is no steering and it will fall over it it encounters obstacles. The sound module is built into the head so when the mouth opens the Dino roars (sort of) Glyman made the comment that this set is ugly as sin and I tend to agree I think there are too many colour variations with different shades of grey, black and that lime green :-P which confuses the look of the finished model but I guess it might apeal more to younger kids. I also do not like the spikes along the back, which glow in the dark, because the are loose and keep falling off. This set is not cheap at 70 but I guess this is because of the motors and IR controller. While on this I was surprised how good the range was on the new controller it would still operate ever when not in direct line of sight. I would give this set a 10/10 for playabilityit has kept the kid amused for hours I would give it 6/10 for value for money it is a bit pricey Overall 8/10 It took approx 3 hours to build and has been well played with I have posted some more images and some videos of the finished models on my brickshelf page HERE If you have any questions please ask Pete

Thats a great idea Gylman Im never sure whether to put this kind of stuff in news, buy trade or into the theme topic. it would also be easy to check without having to scan all areas -
I was in my local lego shop and they had this on display although not in the shop. I spoke to the assistant and she told me they were not officially released until next month but they did have some in the store if I wanted one X-O so I bought one. Box Front Box Back Manuals as you can see there are 3 instructions. 1. The Dino 2. A crocodile 3. A spider ( I think ) I will post more pics at my Brickshelf Gallery when taken. Off to build Now :-D

I bought 7905today for 30% off at a local store

For any one in the UK who lives near to a Beaties Store they have 30% off all toys. The one near where I live has a good range of Lego but the assistant said they were closing the toy department down due to takeover by House of Fraiser and greater discounts may be made later.

That was well worth the wait :-P Im glad to see it is built in a more traditional way it shows what can be done with a standard range of bricks. I can't wait for the full review but with that many parts I guess it will take *yoda* a while to complete. Is *yoda* trying to set some kind of review record!!! :-D

There was an article in the Sunday newspaper that stated Merlin Entertainment plan to open up to 30 of these discovery centres in Europe and North America but there was no indication of time scales

The new Technic Ferrari is available ! I was in Milton Keynes today and to my surprise they had the new Ferrari 599 I have not seen it mentioned since the Pictures from the toy fairs appeared. So I thought I would post a few pictures before I start building. Firstly as with all Ferrari products it is not cheap at 80 Box Front Box Rear Parts And Manuals Sorry if the pics arent great I will post some better quality pics on my brickshelf gallery when I have finished building and try to put together a review. Im off to start building now Ickelpete

That is an amazing collection but as others have said what is the point *wacko* you would not go into a top class resturant order the food and sit and look at it I dont understand how you can buy a set and not rush home and build it after all thats what it is designed for. Unless of course he bought 2 of everthing one to store and one to build

I looked at the hobby train on S@H today and noticed that the date for the instructions has changed from the 19 March to 23 March maybe they still have some problems with it lets hope everthing is sorted by the 23rd

I have just received my Cafe Corner na dI have got an old style box with the ripping side tabs and lift up lid. I was a bit disapointed as I wanted to see the new style boxes but having looked a Dunamis photos the art work in identical I wonder if this is a regional thing. Does anyone else here have the standard box.
