Today I was actually reading part of the article Jake refers to in Wired magazine and it features the development AFOLs have put into the Mindstorms sets. My wife works in market recearch and it is amazing the amount of money corporations spent trying to find out what their customers want and if Jake and other AFols like hime have made TLC realise that the customer is the person a company needs to connect with to be successful then we must congratulate him. Lego definitely seems to be going in the right direction lets hope the people who fill Jakes position carry on his good work.

I think the Tuner garage looks cool! the mini racers are a real fun theme the Kids love them. I was a bit disapointed with the Creator motorbike it looks very similar to some of the early technic bikes with a few standard bricks added. the other Creator sets look a lot better

NEW RCX BRICK
Ickelpete replied to languages's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
:oD I'm excited about this one I put off buying a mindstorms set recently because of the rumour of the new sets. The article says they are servo motors that would suggest rotation position control not just on or off rotation that opens up a whole lot of possibilities for robot designs. The other item that I noticed was that the software was powered by LabView, I used to work for a company that used Labview to control the machines we produced. It was a very powerful and extremely easy to use piece of software and that was several years ago and it cost considerably more than the 249usd that these sets will sell for so that has to be a great step forward for TLC. The only negative point would be that the connectors do not look like the standard technic connectors they look more like data connectors. Maybe they will produce an interface to control standard motors. -
I was in the Lego shop in Birmingham on Friday and I noticed that they were putting out some of the new Hospital sets they also had some of the Ferrari sets. :-D They had alot of upacked boxes at the back of the shop and seemed to be rearranging all the shelves but my wife would not let me hang around to find out what was in them. :( they also had a sale of some Bionicle and knights kingdom sets.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year Can't wait for all the new sets in 2006
-
Welcome Its great to see another Technic fan. You will have a great christmas 8421 is an awsome set I got it earlier this year it takes a while to build :D
-
Try getting inspiration from things that interest you favorite film/book etc. Then just experiment with different ideas quite often I will start with an idea and it will evolve into somthing different.

I like the look of the new EXO force sets :-D but I can see why TLC are not issuing any big technic sets till later in the year these EXO sets have a lot of technic parts they must be using a big chunk of the technic production. Its a novel use for the mini excavator bucket as feet for the striking venom set *satis*

:oD great new technic to look forward to. needed a magnifing glass for the pictures though. :o the new truck remind me of the air claw rig that was available a few years ago
-
:-D can't wait has anyone got any pictures

The rarest set I have is 810 Town plan from 1963 :() Im not sure how complete it is as I have not been able to find an inventory for it. I'm sure some pieces have been lost and lots have been added, there are still some of the early dinky style cars in the set.

This is just typical of Ebay people just get carried away, if they just got of there lazy backsides and supported there local toy shop they would probably save money too. Ive seen several items on Ebay recently that are twice the price of the same set in TRU and that does not take into account the postage. what was that old saying about fools and money being easily parted :D

2006 Technic Sets?
Ickelpete replied to dunamis's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Im not a fan of these little technic sets the models they dont take long to build when you first get them and you can't make much else from them when you've taken them apart. :( There was instructions for a much better quad bike as the alternative model in the recent 4WD truck kit. Im hoping that they will use ther tie in with Ferrari to produce another super car it is a few years since they released the super street sensation and the recent Enzo was not quite there in terms of details. -
I voted for City the construction series is great :-D Although my favorite set from this year is the technic mobile crane
