New Technic pics
Ickelpete replied to sam89's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I have never been a fan of the small technic sets as they do not do enough I would rather but a system dump truck as it has a similar level of playability. The snowmobile is a different story thats definetly on my buy list for next year it will look good with the motorbike of last year if the scales are similar. Its good to see an orignal idea I cant remember a technic snow mobile before(correct me if Im wrong) lets hope the big sets are somthing new not re-makes of old sets. -
Thats a great find I hope he puts up some more details of new sets!

Great Ball Contraption

I bought a load of footballs off ebay a few months ago with the intention of building a GBC but I have not had the time to do it. There are some great GBC's of brickshelf. -

4481 Hailfire Droid off Ebay The good news was that all the parsts were still bagged the bad news was that one of the bags was missing still nothing that could not be replaced from my parts box.

I went to Legoland Windsor and bought a load of bricks from the pick a brick section for a MOC I'm planning. They have changed the pick a brick at Windsor last year you chose a cup and filled it for a fixed price this year you fill a bag and you are charged on its weight now the catch they only have scales at the checkout so you dont know how much you have bought until you pay for it X-O I would guess if you filled a bag it would cost well over

That was a great review Snefroe1 I remember when this series first came out and I wanted the Rolls Royce Car but as you mentioned i was draw to Technic and bought the car Chassis instead. It's a pity that TLC did not do a limited run of the old style windows for the set though.

Pictorial review: old style Lego boxes (Airtech 8868)
Ickelpete replied to gylman's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I agree the UK postal system is changing to take into accout size of letters as well as the weight. As more and more people buy sets off the internet maybe the boxes will becomes less important and the box sizes will drop to meet the demands of a mail order business. -
I've remorgaged the house and bought a Mindstorms NXT 8527 :-P The orignal mindstorms was produced during my 'dark ages' so I dont have any compattability problems. A word of warning to anybody else that buys it, the motors and sensors come in their own cardboard box but when I opened it one was missing Help I thought back to the shop but for some strange reason the missing sensor had been wraped in bubble wrap and put in with the packs of bricks I guess there must be some packaging issues. well back off to play now |-/

Pictorial review: old style Lego boxes (Airtech 8868)
Ickelpete replied to gylman's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Nice review Glyman *y* I know what you mean about the old boxes I have the first Technic Chassis 853 and you could see the parts when you open the lid all the gears and wheels had there own compartment so when you put it away you knew if a part hade been left under the sofa. Best of all the instruction slipped into a little pocket in the bottom of the box so they did not get damaged. And the worst thing about the new boxes is the *"%$ -
Odds and Ends: New Lego "accessories"
Ickelpete replied to gylman's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I saw one of these in a UK lego store earlier in the year and i agree with previous comments they appear quite flimsy I dont think they will stand up to much use without falling apart. They would also not hold a very large amout -
To mod or not to mod (not for squeamish readers!)
Ickelpete replied to Brickthus's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Personally I never Mod my bricks I always look for a different way to build rater than modding a brick to suit and as you said I might need a part to complete a set. The only mod I have considered was fitting a small compressor into an orignal style battery box but it never got past the thought stage. -
This is bad news :-( I will have to go to Milton Keynes to spend my loyality vouchers in case they close as well ! does anyone know if the take the vouchers at the Legoland Shops?

Great Review *y* I was planning a review of this one now Im back from holiday I am just building the alternative model. I do agree with some points I was left slightly disapointed with the lack of pneumatics. The damper arrangement on the tow lift should have been pneumatic aswell. One thing that did dissapoint me was that there was no thought given to adding the motor to the main model the instructions only include for adding the motor set to the alternative model. TLC have gone to the trouble of producing a motor accessory set and have not included it in the flagship model I do not understand the logic behind this. I think you did well for time it took me about 12 hours to build over 5 evenings but I do get lots of interuptions from the kids wanting to help :-D and as for taking it apart I think it took about 1 hour.
