  1. Great review I did like the rachet mechanism it is also used on the new technic tow truck to hold the hook Like you I had a problem with overbalancing. I had the alternate model built and a gust of wind toppled it off the cupboard where it was standing I will have to find my counter weights from the bottom of my spares box. It is a pity TLC didnt add 4 weights in to start with. all in all I thought this was a good value for money kit
  2. I had an expensive weekend :-( I bought 8284 technic tractor/dune buggy from the lego store :-) and 8285 tow truck I got this from Argos it is
  3. That question is way too hard I bought my first Lego over 20 years ago :-/

  5. The UCE Batmobile is now in the Lego Shop in Milton Keynes along with a few of the smaller sets.
  6. I was going to rebuild the F1 1/10 to do the comparison but it looks like sam has saved me a job!! cheers Sam :-D
  7. I got 8287 Technic motor and 8288 Crawler Crane from the Lego Shop today.
  8. Well lets start with a picture of the instructions. the first thing that strikes you about this set is that it is big 1242 pieces as listed on S@H which I guess is why it comes in at 100. The Ferrari Technic always seems slightly more expensive per piece than normal Technic sets. The instructions are clear no problems with colour recogmition and they are 131 pages with a parts list at the back. The Box Back The set comes in one of the what seems to be the new standard rip to open box. The Contents As I have already said there are alot of peices, there are a lot of panel but suprisingly very few long beams the morority of pieces seem to be small plates of different shapes and sizes. The build is split into different sections first the cockpit and front suspension. there is quite a lot of detail in the front suspension and steering mechanism I was a bit dissapointed in the seat though. The next section is the rear suspention and engine again this contains suspension and a differential with drive to the engine. from this you go on to build the nose cone rear wings and engine cover which are all easilly removable. Next the dreaded sticker sheet :-/ I never use the stickers as I dont leave my kits built for very long and you cant use the bits for Mocs And finally the finished model It is difficult to show how big the finished model is it comes in at 617mm or just over 2 feet long. It is a lot bigger that the Enzo. I have not seen wheels this big before either, see Here and Here Overall I would give this set an 8/10 due mainly to its size and some nice details it is also a set that takes a lot of time to complete I think I must have spent 7-8 hours building it in total which has to be value for money On the down side stickers and no alternative model with this many peices it would not be difficult to come up with some kind of truck or something similar. I have some more pictures on my brickshelf gallery Here If anyone has any question let me know and I will try to answer them :-D
  9. Its still only on pre-order in Europe Ill have to wait till September. Hope your birthday wish comes true :-D
  10. Yeah France won X-D What am I saying!! I actually wanted France to win or more to the point I wanted Portugal to loose
  11. I have seen this in a Lego shop and pictures on the back of the box show it fitting into both the tow truck and the Big tractor I was a bit dissapointed as I hoped the tow truck would come with a motor in the set but it does not appear too have one :-(
  12. My wife would say that I spend far too much on Lego X-D I guess I spend around
  13. I spotted these today aswell I thought it was interesting that the tractor is being listed as Dune Buggy in Europe I thought it was only Dune buggy in the US :-/ I am also looking forward to the Tuner Garage which is also listed
  14. I was looking on Amazon UK today and noticed that they have listed the new technic sets X-D 8285 tow truck 8289 fire truck 8288 crawler crane all listed Here It says that they will be available from 10th August I must start saving :-/
  15. I got the Ferrari F1 1:8 scale for fathers day X-D I was in Lego Shop Birmingham(uk) with the family and they had 30% discount on all Ferrari products so my kids snaped one up for me ( with a little persuasion :-D ) I was talkin to one of the staff at the shop and they said that the liscense with ferrari dose not let them make discount on the product range without permission I had not heard this before. Ill post some pictures if anyone is interested when Ive finished building it
  16. Well this is my first review so here goes Firstly the Box Front and the contents There are 931 peices mostly grey, dark grey and black. there are also some silver and chrome details. This set contains instructions for 3 models the first is obviously the roadster but more of that later. The second is a kind of jeep/land rover 4x4 vechicle this in itself is quite a detailed model with working steering and opening doors and tailgate this itself took several hours to build. the instruction are 63 pages. link to 4x4 The third model in the dragster this is quite a simple model and doesn't take long to build. Someone at TLC is obviously a dragster fan as this was an alternative in the Land Busters set a few years ago. the instruction for this one contains a complet parts list and 2 pages of further ideas New and Old Dragsters The Build The build is straightforward the instructions run to 84 pages the only problem was distinguishing between the silver and light grey parts. I spent nearly 3 hours putting it together. The Chassis The chassis is made from a technic frame. I was surprised that ther was quite a few studless parts especially around the steering mechanism. the steering is controlled from just behind the rollbars and runs under the centre tunnel to the front. The Cockpit The cockpit is quite detailed the centre console is made from three printed tiles. There are no stickers in this set yeah!! X-D One of my favorite details is the inside of the doors that come complete with map pocket. Some of the other details include opening boot/trunk and detailed engine bay I have included a link to my brickshelf folder when moderated. Complete Car Overall I would give this set a 9 out of 10 rating it was good to build and there were alot of nice details which give the final model a good look. The alternative models have also hade some thought put into them and stand up in there own right. At 35 I feel it is good value for money. A full set of pictures can be found HERE If anyone wants any more info please let me know :-D
  17. I was in the Lego shop in Birmingham UK today and they have the new LEGO 8682 RACERS Nitro Intimidator thats the black pick up truck. They also have the Ferrari 1/8 formula one, I was really excited about this one untill I read the price lable it is retailing at

  19. Milton Keynes has a LEGO shop? I wander over there sometimes (great Jujitsu club at Stantonbury Campus). so will have to look it up. Can you explain roughly where it is, please? The Lego shop is in the Main shopping centre. Its in the newer area opposite Debenhams there are plenty of maps around.
  20. I went to the Lego shop in Milton keynes on Monday and Bought 4896 Roaring Roadster X-D They also had motion builders and mythical creatures I need to make another visit. other sets they had were the new Exo force sets
  21. Yeah!! I won some Znap on Ebay X-D Ive not gone completely mad it included 2 motors and 4 flexi drives and all for
  22. I got 2 pneumatic air tanks X-D I found an educational suppliers that still has them in stock Ive been trying to get some for ages!
  23. I downloaded it last night it is a major step forward getting rid of the parts pallets. As long as you use a bit of imagination when selecting parts I cant see that TLC will complain if they are selling bricks that good for the business. I read an interview with a rep from TLC who said that they were considering more Technic parts after they had added trains I cant wait for that day.
  24. I used to follow the isntructions to the letter and open the bags in order but now I just dump X-D
  25. I usually take them apart after a couple of weeks it save me having to dust them. the only set I have not taken apart is my Technic Enzo its been on display for 4 months now :-D
