it's getting near!
-
is it just me or are the tops of the outer treads deforming the inside treads look fine.
-
While that would work there is no room for gears inside the wing hubs and no way to attach them to the wings without a major redesign.
-
yet more rebuilds!! i have now narrowed the sloped sides by 2 studs in total and also changed the connection of the 1x3 brick arches to give a clean look, rebuilt the internal structure and also changed how the wings are hinged (still can't find a way to hold them in the folded position).
-
that works great, will the full width of the SC skid steer that easily though?
-
i hope you will have the steering on the front treads unlike legos inacurate rear steer.
-
What is the Sandcrawler goiung to weigh when finished..It will be very heavy so i'd think you would need to large motors in each track just to move it never mind steering, those black link are very soft plastic and will rip apart under the stress of turning or even moving for that matter. Still, prove me wrong and give us more pictures!! i don't know if this is powered at all but it sits on the tracks well.

Great review but i can't say the set does anything for me although i do wish that i had bought a few to sell now lol!
-
I was not happy with the connection for the sloped sides so i stripped the entire model down and rebuilt it! but now the sides are stronger and i've only gained 1/2 plate width either side, i also rebuilt the internal structure so it's a bit lighter now. just waiting on a bricklink order from the USA and i can get the body wrapped up and finished!
-
yep two in cockpit.
-
just bricklink them if you need them it's the only way i can build the mocs.
-
nope no interior, my mocs are for display only.
-
Ok These are the only internal pictures i will be taking as it's not pretty!

Video review of london toy fair http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-12280569

i will post a few internal structure shots tomorrow as that will be the last chance for it before it's button'd up so to speak. theres no secret connections it's all simple to be honest.
-
yep just found out they are for the pod racers

just a quote from one our members of the BA the full quote I was most grateful to get a tour of the Lego stand at the Toy Fair today. Now I can't post images and I mustn't say too much here, but I can say, you'd all better save plenty of pocket money for the goodies coming out later this year! I've seen most of the leaks in the interweb but there was stuff there that was news to me. I think I can disclose the following without fear of reprisal: - Some lovely new Star Wars sets and minifigs that you'll kill for. There were transparent technic beams (stud-less) in two of the Star Wars sets! - There's a new spacey alien range with groovy aliens and space suits that appeared to be in a whole new blue colour, somewhere between blue and mid-blue (unless they were incorrectly coloured mock-ups of course). They definitely had new ray guns though. One set used the Indy circular track in black as part of the circular spaceship design. Another has a brilliant but simple UFO abduction device! - New Atlantis cockpit windows are definitely trans yellow! - The non-Duplo "Cars" sets are very cool with loads of new auto parts. - Pirates of the Caribbean sets are superb. Characters from the various films (and the new one) as minifigs and each set has a slightly different Jack Sparrow—"to avoid duplication" the man said! And there will be 2 different ships - can't possibly say which! - Lovely new games, Technic, City, Creator, Harry Potter, Ninjago and brilliant advent calenders for next Christmas. - Series 5 minifigs were not on show (but there is a sneak view in the trade catalogue!) - New Lego licenced products will include a 2ft high minifig with internal storage, and a giant minifig head that is made up of several sieve trays, with progressively smaller holes to help sort your parts. (Now I built something like that a few years ago—why didn't I market it!) Bad news: yet another Lego clone brand will appear later in the year: "Ausini Block" imported from China by UKiC (http://www.ukic.co.uk/) who mostly do teddy bears! They have very familiar looking themes of Police, Fire, Army and pinky-girlie-house stuff. You may not like to read this, but Cobi are doing some impressive looking new stuff. Knex are also continuing with their Lego compatible monstrosity. The miniature construction system Nano bricks from Japan was also on show. Wow, it was a good trip!

- Some lovely new Star Wars sets and minifigs that you'll kill for. There were transparent technic beams (stud-less) in two of the Star Wars sets! that was a quote from the London Toy Fair preview, now what set has trans clear technic lift arms in it?
-
or you could spend a lot less and build one youyrself?
-
yep easy and yes it is the Right one lol.
-
Praise indeed! taking pictures of greebs in black is very difficult!!
-
The structure is just bricks and plates, the wings are held with technic lift arms as can be seen in the photo's, the sloped middle sections uses car roof hinge plates. The outer sloped surfaces are held on top by 1x2 hinge brick with 2x2 hinge top plate, and on the bottom by technic connectors and plate modified 2x2 with holes. the angle of the cockpit is made with techinc click hinge. what made this hard is that nearly all of it is built on stud offset, as you can see that the top is 5 studs wide and the bottom is 7 studs wide, plus with the studs built in a lot of directions! Also to get an idea, the 3 sloped areas either side, the bottom of the 65 x 2x2x2 slopes sit on a plated section the full width of the ship, so that would be the starting point.
