"Starting to believe" =P. So, no factual basis, just hope. And maybe it is, who knows, that would be cool. Didn't somebody throw out the possibility of Jurassic World sets? Given that sort of corporate synergy, it seems likely. But, you never know...

Uh, I'd find poorly executed jokes a lot more offensive than some of the best years of BIONICLE, but hey... I still would like a TV show, but a 2D animated one.

So what would be the point of doing a continuation if the past story is retconned? Self-defeating, that is.

Matoran were allowed to wear the same mask, but those concepts could easily be non-finalized. Anything indicating a continuation is more wishful thinking or reading way too much into things. BIONICLE was canceled because of an overburdened mythos, so just adding to that is completely counterintuitive.

There can be five billion reasons why the Toa aren't wearing adaptive armor anymore; even if it is a continuation (which it won't be) the story will have to work around the designs of the sets, not the inverse. If it is a continuation, they could still be wearing Adaptive Armor, but it's not a continuation just because it's something that bears a passing resemblance to a previous story element.

Wasn't that Tahu? I'll need to recheck my books to note on BS01 (since the information doesn't seem to be there...). They slowly began getting their memories back, but only one of them got everything back.

Could be on a break, like Ninjago did; I'm not overly worried. If it's axed, that sucks, but it had a good run.

You mean New York? =P I say bring on another constraction theme! Not BIONICLE or Hero Factory!

I wouldn't call Toa as a concept easy to understand, by default; it's not even TECHNICALLY a species name at all, even though it gets generalized as such (and don't get me started on Glatorian), and as you say, there's the crazy science of evolving from a different species, and then evolving into another one. The series is rife with exceptions on what Toa means, who fits the definition, etc.

Just because we're old doesn't mean we're reticent to change =P. That's a stereotype, man. Which gets back to the whole thing of "why BIONICLE?". We'll probably see some terms, but I certainly wouldn't be surprised if the concepts are generalized; we have "Defenders", or whatever they'll be, and Hero Factory worked pretty well without introducing any specific terms that weren't derived from proper names.

They might not be called Toa in the storyline; would it be so bad?

I like it because right out of the gate we can do away with any complaining about why characters are different sizes. That's been a recurring point of debate over the years, and I'm not sorry to see it go. Or it can be a reboot AND that's the Mask of Life; no rules in reboots!

Yeah, no other place can have volcanoes, not even anywhere in BIONICLE.

If true, they're just showing the same general deference to BIONICLE that they did to Hero Factory this year. If it works for them and their production cycles, I won't complain. BIONICLE would always "officially" release in January, anyway; anything in December was usually just a broken street date, and it didn't happen everywhere. I actually liked having things released later in the year, since ToyFair gave me a better picture of what to look forward to and how best to spend/conserve cash. (I was always a BIONICLE collector, though, so I suppose it doesn't matter too much...)

Augh logos! Very cool, though. I especially like a lot of the mask/helmet concept work, it's always fun to see those in the design stage.

They often show shadowy (or in this case, lighty) figures in the backgrounds of imagery. Sometimes it's a representation of a figure from a future wave, occasionally it's one from the current wave, and more rarely, it's a story element that doesn't have a direct set representation. In this case... I think it's a smudge.

Well, then you see more than one Crystal Beast in the episode (conversely, while only one Splitter Beast actually appears, the website implies that it can happen more than once), so... I like Aanch's interpretation of the nature documentary =P.
-
True, but Crystal Beast, for instance, says "The Crystal Beast stands guard inside the treacherous crystal cave and she only has eyes for one thing: capturing the heroes with whatever means available and trapping them inside cocoons." which makes it sound much more like an individual, or at least casts doubt on whether or not they all can be female. Obnoxiously nitpicky, yeah, but characteristic of the way they write the story bios. I'll probably just write it like the whole species (technically subspecies) is female... seems easier =P
-
I saw that they were female as part of some fun fan theory where those with jaw underbites are all female, and those with overbites are all male. No canonical bearing, but it makes a fun piece of trivia to speculate about. That said... we do kind of run into the 2013 problem of whether or not those names reflect an individual (as I eventually decided for the 2013 beasts =P), or if that particular species is just all female. The latter is certainly not impossible.

Maybe we won't be using those words at all, and their proper title is going to be Defender/Guardian/whatever? Just a thought. We haven't actually seen any in-universe terms, so no reason to assume that the conventions will be identical.

Just because it's condensed doesn't mean it was accessible; there was still a lot of information there. From the perspective of a fan it doesn't appear to be too difficult, but for a newcomer, I can see it being a lot more challenging. Even with a "prequel series", if there's any overt attempt for placating the previous fanbase by tying it into the same universe or storyline as before, people will always be waiting for the other shoe to drop. For the universes to connect, to see characters that you know, etc. A single wink and nod won't be enough, regardless of what people say, which is precisely why they won't do it at all. Strong fanbases (and I would call BIONICLE's fanbase strength... tenuous) doesn't translate into anything resembling sales, which is another reason why it was axed prior; people who were invested in the story were not buying the sets.

I recall him also saying several times that in order to attract new audiences, they would be foolish to rely on past history. The thing about setting the story far into the future (a "soft reboot", as it were) is that it doesn't take into account the fact that we have these characters that we already know. Tahu and co., assuming they are the main characters, would need to be reintroduced in such a way that is in keeping with their existing history, muting the fact that there needs to be a soft reboot at all. Any misstep there will undoubtedly rub the returning franchisers the wrong way; while they aren't the target audience, what would be the point of a continuation at all if they aren't going to acknowledge what came before?

When people say "reboot", I'm not sure why they imply that means Mata Nui is back as well. The only connection we have to the previous series so far (and the only universe-centric terms) are the names; these could be the Skakdi Element Masters from the planet Voya Magna, or what have you, if those terms would even be used at all. It is thematically rebooted, obviously, in the sense that there are a lot of familiar elements in play, but all of these elements are incredibly vague and use generic words.
