  1. This is a joyous day! Still no idea if the NYCC reveal is at all related, but we have a good few weeks of circular speculating until then. Edit: Nuts, mobile, catch up why dontcha.
  2. Is it just me, or does Aanch always luck out on these things? =P Congrats, everybody! May you bring us great tidings of bonkles.
  3. I'm going to say that's a bit of a fallacious argument; just because they have the information stored doesn't mean they were willing/ready for release of it. Look at what happened with the "coming soon" page. To say that it's okay just because they're following some site protocol is pretty classic victim blaming, albeit very mild. On the flip side, I doubt that this has impacted them in any significant manner; I see nothing but hype, at the moment! (also I doubt we'll see Artakha. I prefer him that way, anyway; some characters are better left to the imagination)
  4. Unlikely, even if it would be a nifty representation of it. If it is, it would likely be a drastically retooled version; destroying the ability to create new things is a bit more nuanced than I'd expect from a new BIONICLE, at least in its first wave.
  5. URL guessing, eh? I mean, if BZP leaks it... does it still qualify as a leak? Chew on that! (probably still does) ANYWAY legit, son. A bit over-the-top, and doesn't really look like any of the masks we've seen so far, but hey. Exciting!
  6. Don't forget that we got two MORE Matoran of that design in the second half of the year, in Karzahni's set, so variety certainly played a factor. In general the four small sets were of a bigger size and part count than the previous years (and contained more pieces than their similarly sized counterparts from the following year), so I imagine that probably had something to do with it. For all 2007's excellence at diversifying the storytelling, though, we still barely saw the Hydruka =P. I've always wondered what the sheer amount of rubber did to the budget in 2007, too; as far as I know plastic and rubber cost about the same, but still...
  7. Another spread in the LEGO Magazine; features the combiners in battle, with some random stats thrown in. Vaguely trying to pass them off as canon, but hey, watcha gonna do.
  8. NO. None for you. Also can we challenge members with other tags to some sort of trial-by-combat and earn their tags if we win? That seems like a fun way of doing things :U (Also also I do like my Hau tag <3)
  9. Well, you can always look at past models and see if those would have any impact in determining what happens in the future. BIONICLE stuck mainly to flash-based adventure games (leaning toward tower defense types at the tail-end), whereas Hero Factory has always done free-to-play horde shooters. It's hard to imagine LEGO changing things up too drastically from their current methods, since those types of games are cheap and easy to make with a decent promise on return investment.
  10. Honestly, there's no way a six-set combiner of the Stars would have any sort of cohesion, and for what it is, it could be worse. We'll definitely see some combi-models, and even Hero Factory had some that are canon, so I won't count it out for BIONICLE. But whether or not the instruction ones are storyline relevant remains to be seen. I could see a "Wairuha" combiner as an old-school reference, but perhaps not canonly so. (also, yeah, Hiker Mike)
  11. That's generally why LEGO offers free replacement parts, but anyway... You don't have to like CCBS better (in terms of aesthetics, I tend to prefer BIONICLE's ridiculously overspecialized parts) but the system is incredibly versatile, so seeing it translate into BIONICLE will certainly be a treat.
  12. Oh, Stone, not Earth. Yeah, that's pretty cool. Although I kinda wish they'd have introduced a new blade piece, seeing how often they're reusing the 2013 flame one.
  13. A staff? I thought it had, like, a chain mace. Like Ogrum. I'm partial to the Water Defender; I'm a sucker for aquatic themed sets, always have been.
  14. Heck, even I qualify for that.
  15. I like to think they have better things to do with their time than checking out message boards all the time, but who knows. Obviously the occasional person like Front enjoys checking in with us (and teasing us) but I doubt there's some larger concerted effort to troll the forums. Plus, design feedback would likely be of a higher priority than story feedback, and since we don't have any real high quality images to work with...
  16. All the Lewa discussion reminded me - god help us all if Treespeak comes back.
  17. I liked the functions inasmuch as they represented the overarching game aspect; knock masks off, etc. I won't mind functions coming back as long as they serve an interesting purpose, rather than just for the heck of it, like Scarox or Bruizer. (vehicle functions, on the other hand, are totally cool)
  18. Would certainly be interesting to see functions coming back. Could just be some kind of connection assembly for the Defenders, though.
  19. You know, I gotta say, this is the first I'm hearing of Lewa having a "classic" smile; I've seen some people interpret the Miru shape as a smile before, but I didn't realize how widespread it was.
  20. I've never been to any Comic-Con event, so I'd love a chance to go; my fellow BS01ers on the East Coast have been lucky enough to get access before, but given the amount of secrecy surrounding the new line, I'd totally be in for seeing what LEGO has in store for us. Plus, I can stay with my sister, who lives there now; family visit bonus!
  21. So Eurobricks is also giving away tickets to NYCC oooooh what could it meeeeeean. (probably nothing)
  22. The thing is, they almost never release the sets around the actual holiday time; wide release is usually in January, and only individual outlets might stock things early from time to time, which generally only profits them anyway. The revenue generated from retailers by broken streetdates is minimal at best. Also, I think people are vastly overestimating how much money this line will make as a whole anyway. Constraction always has been and always will be niche. Hero Factory shows them what they can expect sales to be like, and if releasing things in March works for their bottom line (assuming it did this year with HF) then they'll keep on doing that. Anyway, the prices we've guessed are most likely accurate, or at least reflective of the ones we've seen this year. Plastic doesn't come cheap, guys =P.
  23. Nothing limits him per se, but he's not achieving fully automated, self-sustained flight, just a simulation of it that in turn limits his ability to do much else. LOST started out as a plane crash on a mysterious tropical island and went to time travel and destiny in just a few years. Stories need to evolve in order to grow, and in this case, so much of it was in the original story bibles anyway. The "tribes and rituals of honoring spirits" was actually practically negligible in the decade it took to tell the grandiose story, since it was that for all of one year.
  24. You're right, in that it could be certain translation issues; "Fire Defender" in English would be "Defender of Fire" transliterated from any number of other languages. I, personally, didn't feel for Wall-E (a lot had to do with the movie's ham-fisted environmental message, but anyway), but Hero Factory had plenty of story to relate to the characters through; reading a lot of the supplemental material, especially, provided a great point of reference for understanding them all better. This probably belongs in the Hero Factory topic at this point, but boiling HF down to "robots shooting" is the same as degrading BIONICLE to "robots with flamethrowers", in that it's not a complete view of either series.
  25. I was thinking something more in the way of traditional 2D animation, but Flash could be pretty interesting to see as well. With 3D animations becoming increasingly the norm, both with LEGO and other companies, I think 2D would be a neat way of setting things apart (and I'm sure has contributed to the success of Mixels as it is). Just because you're clouded with nostalgia for early BIONICLE doesn't mean other people weren't as emotionally impacted by things that went on in HF. Not to mention I certainly don't recall anyone being beheaded; the last time I saw body parts being reattached with no particular fuss in a LEGO constraction line was, let's see, BIONICLE. It's hard to say that their title automatically makes them "enemies"; depending on what they're defending, they could simply be a test for good and bad guys alike, a la 2006's Umbra. It doesn't have to be so black and white. That said, given what's going on in the sets, they are very actively "defending" against those spiders, so I would imagine those are the main enemies.
